The Quest 2 has charging regulators to prevent overcharging. Overnight charging is perfectly fine, just unplug it once you notice it's done. Prolonged charging on full can shorten battery cell life.
so it's been one month since you posted this comment I'm curious how's your left stick has it started bugging out yet? it will be on its last leg by one year
i just got my quest 2 3 days ago and this helps so much especially the controller tip i accidently bump a bit playing beat saber and im surprised it still works lol thanks for the tip new sub :)
The chances of overcharging are low because when your headset, phone, etc is done charging it will stop sending power unless it goes down then power will be released when needs to refill back to 100%
i dont have motion sickness on roller coasters or quest 2 or any vr, but i still take 30 minute breaks and can only play for 30 minutes for safety because once i actually got tricked and tried to walk with a non-existent controller in real life lol so theres more reasons to only play for 30 minutes or a sustainable time
Your phone is a little smarter than your quest 2 when it comes to charging, your phone stops charging once it's full while the quest won't so it's safe to leave your phone charging overnight without risky any battery damages
This isn't correct. Phones do not have the same batteries. There are different types of batteries. That means you can't say what is actually good for "Phones". One fact is, that every battery will lose power. But how you can optimize the battery life is totally different and must be checked for each type. Loading to 100 is as far as I know bad for every type.
@@supidupi It is true that the type of battery is different, but is it true that phones stop charging when they're fully charged? I'm not an expert on batteries sorry.
@@jakecarpenter1838 For new smartphones it is true. Anyway it is better to not charge them to 100%, cause of the high voltage. My english isn't that well. I would describe it to you but it's to completed for me.
Sir with all do respect you are wrong with the battery once the lithium ion reaches 100 percent capacity it will stop taking power and it will no withdraw any more power so saying it will damage it is completely false.
every iphone has a built in feature that keeps it from charging to 100% before you need to actually use it lmao so there’s nothing wrong with charging over night
Charging overnight was debunked many years ago. In the early 2010's sure, it was a huge issue. Nowadays every modern device automatically disables the charging portion of charging devices when left plugged in.
Not completely right, you can leave your phone plugged in charging over night if it's a modern iPhone, or any modern device if it has Optimized Charging which limits power draw to allow the charging to be efficient and will be 100% by the time you wake up rather than stressing the battery keeping it 100% constantly. However in terms of the Oculus Quest, it doesn't have such feature which it should so it should be avoided to charge the oculus over night.
People need to stop saying letting it charge overnight is slowly destroying the battery. It will only take about 10-20% of the battery life over 2 years. They need to stop scaring people for no reason.
It takes way more than that. The quest used a lithium battery pack which degrades over time. If you charge your quest overnight, it puts more pressure on the battery pack and degrades it a lot more.
@@XeniYT sure. I’ve been doing it and nothing has happened at all since the day I got it. The battery life has gone down maybe 10 minutes. (I got mine 2 days after it was released)

people need to understand that the entire idea with overcharging is no more... tech is way better now and smarter, most of new tech (quest 2 included) anywhere from your PC`s headphones to you phone stops charging when it hits 100%, then proceeds to charge again when at 90% plus (depends on the exact piece of tech), i have the quest 2 for over a year now and at first i was charging it all night every night (for over 5 months), and no noticeable degrade in battery life at all (now im playing with a powerbank connected to it on a 3rd party headstrap i bought). this overcharging thing is old news.
The lithium battery is programmed to slow charger, at 80% meaning it’s perfectly fine to charge it overnight but a longer period of time can overheat the battery and slow the charging time + how long the phone lasts and incorrect batteries the programme it’s built into most phones, but I don’t know if it is built into the quest, two
So um 😅 my quest i leave it charging overnight and how are you going to get sleep if you have to make sure it’s not stressed I had my quest for 1 year now and nothing happened yet
I don't know if it is still the case because Meta is changing things but you needed a FB account to access your Quest and since FB derives a lot of their revenue by ads, they want to be able to confirm that you are who you say you are for targeting ads. If they found you using a fake name they would ban your account and since your quest and games are tied to your FB account, they would not be available.
your supposed to read the manual, in the orientation it specifically asks you if you read the manual, reading the manual cautions you to not to have these habits
Scientifical? What's that mean? It doesn't matter if you leave a lion battery on charge or not. The battery care circuitry deals with that. This isn't 2006 anymore.
Lithium ion batteries have battery management systems that prevent those problems. Even a 20 volt Lithium drill battery has a battery management system on a board inside thr battery pack.

For the head strap one, you can get the Elite strap from oculus, or a upgraded head strap from Kiwi and other companies

The elite strap is expensive garbage. DO NOT GET IT
It's not good so many reviews of it breaking easily I recommend buying a different one from amazon
