    Ordered that guitar even before the Demo. Now I cant wait. Already got the AZ Premium with 2 HB. Awesome. Cant imagine this one will be even better... Thanks for convincing IBZ to make a HSS without a Pickguard (I hate Pickguards) !!!

    Holy crap, Tom... all these shredders have no idea how good you are, man. I've been playing more than 35 years and I've thought I'm pretty good until I started listening your stuff. Lol. Tom, you're beyond most players. I'm impressed 👏.

    Normally I'd think someone reviewing their own guitar was total fluff salesmanship, and BS... but I really think given the player Tom is, and the integrity he seems to embody makes this review less biased than even Tom thinks. Super interested in this guitar.

    My very honest appreciation is: this is a MUST HAVE guitar, just beside Marco Sfogli’s signature model MSM1P and Paul Guilbert’s signature model PGM80P and Iron Label RGA6/7UC 🤘🏽😎🎸👌🏽 👋🏽🙂🇻🇪

    Great review of a great guitar Tom. Very nice to see (and as always, fantastic playing).
    The neck are 2.5mm thicker than a Wizard neck, not much for being so noticeable in playing feel.
    Just for the sake of it being right, the block is steel, not titanium.

    • @valebliz
      @valebliz 4 года назад +1

      The saddles are titanium, not the block. A titanium block wouldn't make much sense.

    Great work Tom! Epic guitar that should be a studio player hit! Awesome sound and the versatility. I’m along time Ibanez player and while the wizard neck are good, one of my all time fave guitars was an old Kramer Pacer that had a meaty maple neck. All the best

    Monkeypod is actually very nice wood for bodies. Got some electric customs made of it and they sound great with good sustain. It is also a common wood here in South America. Very cool guitar Tom

  • @rolandgonzales5260
    @rolandgonzales5260 6 лет назад

    Very nice guitar. Seems that the latest technology and trend in guitar building is the caramelized neck process. Thank you Tom for explaining the process as well as the 2 different types. I like the design and arrangement of the pickup selections available. Very nice tone and interesting wood selection. Although, unlike Rob Oliver's remark about ostentatious cosmetics, I really dig those kinda crazy and wild designs, i.e., the JEM models. But, to each his own, right?!?

  • @typedeaf
    @typedeaf 6 лет назад +3

    Tom, doubt I'll get your response, but I would like you know why any player would actually prefer a neck other than a Wizard-style with jumbo frets? When could a fatter neck with smaller frets actually be an advantage?

    • @joshstead6078
      @joshstead6078 5 лет назад +2

      When it comes to the neck profile, it's usually just about comfort. A lot of people find their hands start to cramp up when the neck is too thin because nothing is supporting their hand.

    • @gustanoid
      @gustanoid 3 года назад

      Maybe because whole concept of thin necks is just a bullshit? It's a crampfest

  • @shadowsong1

    the az series is not quite so original for ibanez. the RT (from the 90s) series and AT (Andy Timmons) series seem to be the ancestor of this sort of thing from ibanez.

    • @Scalibq
      @Scalibq 6 лет назад +1

      Not to mention the Roadstar (predecessor of the RG) and their more generic Strat clones and such from the lawsuit era.

    • @shadowsong1
      @shadowsong1 6 лет назад

      they just have that RG and S series reputation now days. that's been the main offerings from them for 20 plus years. But they've done different things. I like the new line too. the Azs are nice. But not so new and original.

    Never would have thought that I could say that about current production Ibanez, but it's a tasty guitar. What's the distance to the bridge from the neck pickup? Seems a bit too far away from "the" spot.

    Love the guitar and have it for about a year. The position of the output jack is horrible. I mostly play seated with the guitar sitting on my left leg. In that position, the RF plug pokes in my right leg. This is so uncomfortable!

    I was recently walking the mean streets of Bend, Oregon when a bearded young man in tight pants approached me and said “hey bro! Have you heard that the new Duncan Hyperions can get vintage tones! It’s fantastic.” I looked at him, smiled and said “Little man, I have no idea what any of that means but thank you for your passion.” And went about my day.

    I like to down tune a lot. Would down tuning be easy on this guitar? or because of the bridge it'd need a bit of readjustments?
    what's the exact weight of this guitar? can't find it anywhere

    • @BHPOfficial
      @BHPOfficial 5 месяцев назад

      You’d need to go in an adjust the springs every time you do a major tuning change. Harder than a fixed bridge, easier than a Floyd though

    He's a great player, the guitar sounds fine, and no doubt it's beautifully made - but does it have to be so boring to look at? Brown, brown, brown, and no options. The Strat and Les Paul look good. This looks like a sideboard.

    I don't want to piss anyone off or offend Mr. Quayle as he is obviously a very good guitarist, but something I notice in these kinds of demos with players at this level is: A very obvious command of dexterity and unusual pattern playing and fretboard access, but almost always no sense of time or groove or music. I admire these players ability to control the instrument and find unique ways to express themselves but it just seems odd to me to show playing as random improvisational lines and not have a sense of time or groove or a framework of a composition or container? I know he can play and I am certain he plays tunes, as do other good players, but there is this odd trend where dexterity and chops are focused on and for me the music disappears? There are many modern players who do play tunes or grooves to demo things like Julian lage or Antoine Boyer, etc...and there is obviously rhythmic structure to what Mr. Quayle is playing, but it has no propulsion or story or music for me? It just seems like interesting ideas strung together? I don't mean this as an insult in any way. But I find when I listen to guitar these days I gravitate to the guys who are always playing with a sense of swing or groove, like Bireli or Scott henderson. Holdsworth had extraordinary sense of time and structure. I don't have hands or chops like that, almost never play with that much gain and cannot really hear the colors or the sound of the guitar with that style of playing.
    Anyway just my 2 cents...The guitar sounds great and I just bought an AZ 2402 and think it is one of the best electric guitars I have owned so I am sure this is a very cool setup.
