Thanks for the video Tim. I've done the Western Arthurs twice. January 1981 and 1984. First I only had a japara jacket and overpants. Thank god for gortex. You've really captured the rugged beauty of the range. I could feel the cold and the rain through my tele, happily not the wind. I loved the tempo of the video and the sound track was just right. When Lake Rosanne with its massive bolder and golden beach came on the screen a smile swept across my face. I spent a lovely sunny day there soaking up the rays after a hellish night at Promontory Lake. Thanks again for posting.
Hi Scottie, wow, Japara. Throughout the walk we were awe of you guys that completed that circuit back then (I'd have been two without any comprehension of Tassie let alone the Arthur's). Thanks for the feedback and very happy to hear that Rosanne brought out the smile. It certainly did for us also, we were on the opposite end of the weather spectrum though, across the crags was over 35 degrees. However all the walk back across the plains from there to Scott's Peak was as per the walk in at the start of the clip. Hope you're still getting out in it, cheers, Tim
Insane video Tim... I loved the music and the raw clips. Hopefully going out to Lake Oberon in late January 2018, hoping for some good weather. Cheers for uploading this masterpiece :)
What an incredible video! You really scored with such stunning weather, thank you for sharing. I was wondering how busy was the track during your trip? Did you have any trouble fitting at any of the camp sites?
Cheers, Yes we were very lucky with the weather, a bushwalking club from QLD were beaten by it and were on their way back down Alpha moraine when we were ascending after having been smashed in their tents for two days at the first camp on top, they didn't have enough room at the designated camps and were not impressed at all. We were also lucky with space at the camps, met some great folk and at times (mostly actually) had the place to ourselves. If you're planning on doing it then allow the time for bad weather and carry enough so that you can spend a couple of nights at one or two of the camps. You most likely won't be back in a hurry so give yourselves the opportunity to enjoy it. It's the most amazing scenery I've been lucky enough to be amongst. Glad you liked the Vid, Ciao
beautifully done, thanks for sharing.
Thank you John, it was an epic trip, it's on the agenda to get back to, we had a ball!
