  • Cam Zink silenced all his critics last Friday as he once again etched a new chapter in the freeride history books. At the age of 37, Cam secured his second Red Bull Rampage title with a descent that will be remembered for a long time. Thirteen years after his first victory, he pulled off a massive run including a huge backflip on the monstrous Icon Sender.

Going out top knowing it wasnt deserved has to be tough. Imagine looking at that trophey on your shelf knowing it wasnt won. Such a shame.

IMO not a winning run, two others did far more hardcore runs!

No doubts, there has been some amazing runs by other riders! The level this year was simply insane. Darren Berrecloth AKA The Claw, who was on judge panel, put up a very insightful video about the judging perspective. Watch it here: ruclips.net/video/gvbBCnG0j78/видео.html

@@CyclesDevinci You mean The Claw, Cam's friend? 🙂Everything that he says in that video confirms that Brendog should have won. His line and execution was the essence of freeride. And Bienve 2nd. Bienve linked his canyon FRONT flip with a 360 and a backflip into a lily pad. Cam linked his flat drop BACK flip with...2 straights...Just doesn't add up. Some bring in Cam's top part, as if it would have been something crazy special, when in fact it was just about that medium size tech drop. That's it, no way it compensates for a win in front of Brendog or Bienve.
Darren underestimates the critics, but ignores that even pro riders, like Sam Reynolds and Dylan Stark agree the judging was terrible and certain riders were robbed.
The elephant in the room is that Red Bull should diversify the judges. Non American riders seem to be robbed quite often: Andreu, Brendog, Bienve, Antoine...
