      @jcagle89 3 года назад +1

      @@milkrvr4088 I shot both as well, granted it was off hand at 60lbs. I will agree with Hoyt has an amazing bow this year, I was really impressed. I have been disappointed with Hoyt since the defiant. During my shooting I found the Prime to have less hand shock than the Hoyt (60lbs @ 29" with a 400gr arrow; I'm a 28" draw and shoot 480 grain arrows for my personal setup). Both draw cycles were smooth, but the prime did feel more stiff than the Hoyt. The hold on both was amazing; both had a slow smooth float to them. I did like the prime grip more than the Hoyt, if I were to go with the Hoyt I would go side plates. Prime had a slightly stiffer back wall, but the Hoyt was much stiffer than years past.

      @@jcagle89 I work in a bow shop and shot both at 70lbs and the prime nexus 4 drew terrible and that was a shared opinion amongst workers and customers the Hoyt is an easier and smoother draw the only bad thing was weight it’s a really heavy bow to be carrying the xpedition is a nice bow the new X series have you looked at those not many people do but I have shot that also and it’s better than the prime and lighter than the Hoyt I shot the new solution also and it’s harder to draw than the revolts and the speed didn’t increase so I’m confused with how bowtech got better Mathews is a vxr clone which is good but I’m definitely on board with xpedition and Hoyt as far as going the right way

      @@milkrvr4088 I don't have access to shot an Xpedition; I would like to try one given the chance though. My worry with those would be an extremely short valley due to the speed rating they have.
      I was really disappointed with Mathews this year, I was hoping for something like the Traverse with the switch-weight mods. I like the tuneability of Bowtech without a press or spacers, but I didn't get a "wow" factor from them.

    Good video. I noticed you definitely drew much easier than most reviews. How's the valley on this bow?

    • @hmasters1510
      @hmasters1510 3 года назад

      The Valley is not consistent across the draw lengths. It changes depending on your draw length. So if you are using the mod with the 29"max and shooting 27"-28" the valley is perfect. At 28.5 it starts to get short and at 29 it's jumpy. At 26" it's long. Its similar to the pse in that regard. The Primes have a better solution with that sliding stop that allows you to dial each draw length in.

    Thanks for another great review. So if I heard correctly the Ventum (and I guess pretty much all Hoyts with the HBX cams) draws more easily/smoother than the Mathews. But which one would be the easiest/smoother to draw of the 30 and the 33?

    I've seen and read reviews about the mods Hoyt did this year and how they're losing efficiency on the shorter ends. I feel like guys are not calling out Hoyt for this terrible design like they should be. I know most cam designs lose efficiency but if you have a 30in draw you should never be shooting the same speed as a 29in draw out of the same bow. That's a bad design and if guys knew this I would think they might look at a different brand this year.

      Well Hoyt wins some and loses some here. I don't like the picatinny rail. Just one more failure point. I have had 3 hoyt carbon bows fail because of the mating of the metal to carbon for connection points. Less screws to fail the better. Making the carbon bow heavy was also a huge step back. Put this tech into an old Carbon Spyder 30 and maybe you are talking now.

      @@Prime_Operon_Outdoors oh yeah I forgot to add that about the weight. Just the #1 thing that's supposed to set a carbon bow apart from an aluminum, the weight. And hoyt couldn't do that either. It's not even that it's the same weight as all it's competition, it's heavier! If people buy this year's Hoyt carbon bows they are just a fan boy, because almost every other Bow company out there has a better bow for cheaper.

      I don't think it's a bad design at all. I'm curious as to why you think it is? The bows are shooting at or above IBO at our shop and customers are really enjoying them. The module maximizes the cam efficiency for the more average draw lengths. The long draw guys typically get shafted because the draw cycles on those bows are typically rough and these are not. They have the speed because of the power stroke, so it's not a problem they encounter. The modules are the same geometry, they just have a different pin position so they rotate the cams farther.

      If the bow still meets advertised speeds, what's the problem?

      @@bmook019 that's the point. It doesn't, not even close.
