I can see it definitely works for you. I like how you made a clean setup. I want a pretty extreme setup with multiple light screens as large as possible but discreet unless I'm working... and also not too expensive.
Great video. A couple of suggestions for Windows or Linux users (will also work for MacOS). 1) Keyboard & mouse: Logitech MX Keys Mini keyboard and MX Anywhere mouse. 2) or Thinkpad Trackpoint Keyboard II - a bluetooth keyboard with a trackpoint which replaces the mouse. 3) For Android tablet users consider the Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 (also called the Yoga Tab Pro) - a 13" 16:10 android tablet which has an HDMI input so can act as a portable monitor for any device that can output HDMI. It also has a stand. So one device can replace your Android tablet and portable monitor. This might be discontinued now but it's still fairly new so may be available in some regions or on ebay etc.
I think you might consider just placing the ipad in the bottom of the laptop and use a vertical setup instead. It would work in small tables better than this wide setup. + the cover gives you the possibility to incline it more or less depending on the need.
I watched a bunch of videos on this and decided to go with your iPad as second screen setup and am absolutely happy with the tripod! Thanks for this! 🙏🏽
Another way I've found is to leave the laptop on the desk, behind it have the tripod and attach the iPad too it. Saves the need for an extra keyboard, mouse and laptop stand.
I am pretty sure there are free applications on the Appstore and Playstore to use your Device like a Second Monitor or Duplicated Monitor (why would anyone do that tho??) wireless - I used to use one to utilise an Android tablet I had around as a second monitor to a PC and I have also used it via an iPad and they have all worked pretty much flawlessly for me; but some people might have faced some issues with delay and lag but I had no issues and some lag shouldn't really be a problem as it's not paid and it's via Bluetooth so there isn't anything really to complain about.
Can you add a link to the adapter you are using? Didn’t find this in the summary. I’m guessing the cable will come with the ipad. I’m on a 2015 macbook so trying to figure out how i’ll be able to connect to a new ipad pro. Thanks for the great info!
Hey! I don’t have my laptop right now to find the link, but it’s just the normal Apple brand USB-C adapter that has a slot for USB-A, HDMI, and USB-C. But you might not need it if you have a USB-A port on your Mac. I would just double check to see that the software is compatible with the 2015 macbook
Here's that link if you're still interested: amzn.to/3ERlCs3 It's way more expensive than I remember, so if you need one, maybe you could sav money with an off-brand (although I've had a few off-brand dongles break in the past).
You sure can! In the past I used duet because my older MacBook didn’t have Sidecar. I just recently updated my MacBook and now Sidecar works like a charm!
Great setup! My job provides Wndows equipment, so no Apple products but I still get the idea. My set up is more complicated....I have a laptop as well as two very big monitors. I've already been thinking of ways to take it on the road though :-)
Thanks! Yeah I think there are several options for monitors, whether that be tablets or actual portable external monitors. The key to the system for my was the tripod and tablet mount that lifts everything up to the same level. I’d love to see your setup when you get everything figured out!
do you have an estimate on your daily power draw? I'm calculating my power usage and my second monitor for 8 hours a day seems to really contribute to the total cost
Unfortunately I didn’t pay super close attention to the power draw. It varies a lot based on how much we used our laptops each day. Then later I figured out my laptop had a toasted battery, so we were probably using much more than necessary. This probably won’t help much, but we had a portable 100w solar panel and if we put it out for most of a sunny day while working all day on our computers, we’d end up about even, or draining the battery just a tiny bit each day. We also were pretty frugal with our use though apart from charging electronics
@@ProjectUntethered that's great help, thank you. I'd like to use less electricity but my job insists on me working all that time. Thanks for the video, and I'm glad to see you're still making content :)
Man, never heard about apple sidecar? It gives you the same functionalities as duet display, simply better and for FREE (both wired and wirelessly). It's been around for 2 years... I suggest you have a look, it works way better than duet, I had it as well.
Wow really? You know what, I think I actually have heard of it. But when I originally bought my iPad, my MacBook was too old to use sidecar or something. I just recently updated though so I’m gonna give it a try. Thanks for the heads up!!
@@ProjectUntethered well, it works really well and you don’t need to pay for any annual subscription or to use any cable. I think the only requirement is iOS 13 on the iPad, but should be ok. Give it a try 😉
Just wanted to make a quick update on this in case anyone is reading the comments. Sidecar works awesome and is my new go-to solution MOST of the time, but I would still recommend getting Duet as a backup. Whenever I have a shaky wifi connection, sidecar starts cutting in and out every few minutes, which drives me crazy. In those instances, I like to fire up Duet with a cabled connection. Hope this helps someone!
im a windows user all the way but i've heard that apple is waaayyyy better than windows because of productivity but i don't know...... when i think of apple i think of their overprice low-quality phones. if Andriod phones are waaayyy better than apple's phones maybe their computers are overrated and overpriced like their phones. just in observation.
I am totally with you about the phones. I like Android better, but only switched back to an iPhone because Airdrop makes it super convenient to transfer photos/videos between all our devices. If it weren’t for that, I’d probably go back to my pixel 🤓 There are windows laptops that are just as good as apple, but many of them also seem to be just as expensive.
Yeah I’m sure there are tons of equally as great (or better) PCs, but apple has a tendency to suck you into their ecosystem. It would be too inconvenient to change now even if I wanted to. But I am perfectly content with my setup for now :-)
What do you think about this setup? Anything you'd add or change? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks! It really makes work a lot more comfortable 👨🏼💻
Thank you so much for watching.🤗 We would love to visit some day !

Love this!!!

Yes that works as well and definitely has a smaller footprint. Also less things to carry :-)
GREAT INFO!!!!!!!!!⭐️

Couldn't you use the native apple option for using the ipad with the laptop called Sidecart?

NATTY ICE!
great idea! I used AirPlay
Nice! Does that work pretty well?
@@ProjectUntethered yep! It is really helping me having 2 screens... thanks for the tips.
You bet! Yeah It makes a huge difference!
Good setup! Curious, why don’t you just put the iPad on the laptop’s keyboard?
I've seen people do this before and thought it was interesting, but I couldn't seem to get the angles right.
