- Last year (2020) I challenged myself and learned this monumental song from Gojira.
"The Art Of Dying" has one of their most complex drum patterns and it was very difficult to play it clean.
Now you can enjoy the DRUMS ONLY* version.
With this series I want to put the focus on the drum sound and drummers performance. Often details are lost in the full song but not here.

Aargh that is one of the hardest patterns out there. There are faster and more mathematically complex ones but that one is just so weird to my brain. Very nicely played - the chorus always makes me feel like I'm flying in a storm.
This pattern is very long and that makes it so strange. Mario is a genius

What I like the most about this song is the outro.
Beautiful. Drums are the first thing to get my attention when I'm listening to something new... love when you can tell who's leading... drums or guitar. Incredible synergy between the two, you feel it with some bands more then others.

Great work sir I love Gojira and have seen them live a couple times-you and Mario are so powerful! How far do back do you set your kick beaters? Looking for a good balance -I use two 24s with wood beaters so definition is no problem

Very true indeed! Sadly their old vinyls are hard to find or very expensive. At least I have from Mars to Sirius up to Fortitude so glad I get to see them in two days.

@@KRIMHDrummer yeah figured something that works upper and lower. Soccer wouldn't give the upper body tone. Mountain bikers have that build as everything gets worked esp calves and arms.
