Nice video. But when are you going to go back n start uploading Sci-Fi video's again.
Could you also do one on the economy of the orcs of murkwood. I would like to know how they could amass such power in ruins!
You could do lore videos on the worlds of manga/anime;
Naruto (the five hidden ninja villages and the Great Ninja Wars),
Fullmetal Alchemist (the country of Amestris), the world of One Piece (the Arabasta Civil War) or the mecha wars of the various Gundam universes.
"For it was not that Saruman lacked love of the halfling leaf, it is that he did not wish for Gandalf to raid his stash once again."
Saruman the hold out
Gandolf got BAKED!!!!!
Yes, like Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini, in our time. He said: "Follow me and I'll take away your freedom."
"Mithrandir, why must you relieve me of thy pipeweed without permission"? Saurman after a council meeting.
"Tolkien was a philologist not an economist" Oooo, that's when you KNOW it's gonna be good! Best series on the channel
I always wondered how a combined army of evil men and orcs got along.
I mean they do have a beer together after a raid, do the black speech anti human chants change as to not upset Bob the Easterling?
They were very progressive 🤣🤣🤣
Considering that Uruks and Orks hate each other i am assuming that their relation with humans is even worse
They probably hated each other but had to work together against their common enemies
They hated each other pretty bad, to the Orcs they were man-things like the rest, and to the Southrons or Easterling the Orcs were exactly what they were to the men of the west. the Easterlings even brawled with the orcs in the road towards the black gate when Sam disguised as an Orc packed a fight between the two.
I thought the orcs feared the Easterlings, they didn’t want that smoke
Essentially Sauron kept his forces in line through fear as morgoth had done, combining that with the power of the one ring makes his Will total over all evil. Another amazing video wizards and I am truly looking forward to the first age of middle earth, Hurin and his son Turins tale must be told. 👍
The corruption of the eastern people is super interesting. While one might get the sense that Tolkien just envisioned them as inherently evil, faceless enemies, their actual history is rather tragic and most is not their faukt. Being corrupted by Melkor from the very start and abandoned by the Valar they had little choice in their fall to evil and later Sauron used that influence to bind them to him through religion. The situation also wasn't helped by the fact that Numenor was an oppressive colonial regime that tyrannised the peoples of Harad and Rhûn and drove them to seek safety in Sauron as well as nutured their hatred for the west. The same holds true for the Dunlendings of Rohan who quite possibly were completely justified, having been fucked over by Gondor and driven from their lands unjustly.
People ignore that; though the main plot is prettyblack and white, the history and the manipulation of men by Sauron isn't. The Men of the West are just as responsible for the corruption and fall of the Men of the East as Sauron is
Elves were supposed to protect humans but Valar took them to Valinor, which made things difficult in the long run.
Yeah the Dunlendings basically thought the Rohirrim and Gondorians were going to kill them all if they surrendered. They were shocked when Theoden spared them.
“Most is not their fault”
It kind of is, they chose to serve darkness in the beginning and unlike the ancestors of the men of the west they didn’t end up rejecting Morgoth (as far as we can tell)
Although you are kind of right since they were subjugated by evil men and Sauron at times in their history
@@Hlord-be4xx If Sauron showed up in your village repeatedly for a thousand years and no one cam to help you, how much choice do you think those people had? Not to mention Numeanor was an imperial power for generations and absolutely terrorised local peoples in Harad and Rhun. Sauron was "crafty" as they say.
You can also see here how Tolkien condemned colonialism: Haradrim became the enemies of the Men of Numenor and later Gondor because after their corruption the Numenorians came to Near and Far Harad as tyrants and oppressors demanding a tribute. This once again shows that Tolkien's world was not at all black-and-white. Without a doubt, the Blue Wizards also worked for a long time against Sauron in the East and the South which means there must have been many men who resisted the Evil.
I do imagine a story where the Blue Wizards helped rally the free peoples of the East and the South, which caused the diversion of most of the forces of Sauron away from Gondor and Rhovanion.
I'm pretty sure he's a colonialist. He defended the pro-colonial author, Rudyard Kipling for his stance on Britain colonizing the world, and publically defended his country from anti-imperialist at the university.
@@theawesomeman9821 Luckily you are misinformed. To quote man himself: "I know nothing about British or American imperialism in the Far East that does not fill me with regret and disgust." He was all for England, but did not want England even ruling over Wales or Scotland, let alone the world.
@@theawesomeman9821 I searched everywhere regarding the facts you pointed out, Didn't find a thing! You clearly don't like the man!
@@j.p.8808 The story of the Blue Wizards is more of a speculation. Even Tolkien didn't know about their fate, though there is different versions of the Blue Wizards story.
Check out Nerd of the Rings video of the Blue Wizards for all these versions.
Not all of them were evil though. In the year 1600th of the Second Age, the Valar sent the Ithryn Luin into the east to forment a rebellion of Easterlings against the dominion of Sauron, the few tribes who had grown discontent with the Dark Lord's rule, especially against his servant, the Easterling King Khamûl.
"Their task was to circumvent Sauron: to bring help to the few tribes of Men that had rebelled from Melkor-worship, to stir up rebellion ... and after his first fall to search out his hiding (in which they failed) and to cause [?dissension and disarray] among the dark East ... They must have had very great influence on the history of the Second Age and Third Age in weakening and disarraying the forces of East ... who would both in the Second Age and Third Age otherwise have ... outnumbered the West." ~ Last Writings, The Peoples of Middle-earth
The notions of "dissension" and "disarray" ought to tell anyone that in the wake of an Easterling rebellion by the Ithryn Luin against the Sauron and Khamûl, the entirety of the East fell into a massive civil war; the Kinstrife of Rhun, that spanned for thousands of years. It's a far longer than the Kinstrife of Gondor and Arnor. But in the end, it did serve its purpose.
If only Amazon studios wasn’t run by idiots they could have gracefully used this material to show an interesting part of the lore, but they were to stupid to take advantage of a great opportunity. Using the lore as toilet paper was easier for them.
Underrated comment
Still think if the Ring of Power show wanted diversity, they could have focused on Harad or Eaterlings.
@@steelshanks1265 “The Shadow that bred them can only mock, it cannot make: not real new things of its own.”
There are various characters from those areas in the series already, Teo and Bronwyn are from a colonial village in northern Harad.
@@arshamj7975 the point is that that is where the "diverse" characters should've been coming from in the first place had they needed them so bad.
Love your LoTR lore vids, always look forward to more, on whatever topic you choose to cover!
Not as evil as a certain multi billion corporation that’s gonna get a reality check.
Think Jeff Think!-Omniman
I wasnt into economics before but now i am after watching the series.
Love it
Agreed
Awesome! Just what I was asking for. Thanks.
Great video! tolkien's lore has an amazing deepness
I’m intrigued to discover what is left to discuss about the economics of Middle-Earth. I thought all the regions and cultures had been covered. Eager to find out more.
Nice work dude thanks
love this channel
Maybe cover the various units of each faction as well.
They didn’t have “units” that’s a concept made up by later video games. All they had were your basic archers, cavalry, and infantry
Interesting, thanks for posting!
Ty's for ur video's and also ur time and work.
Terrific video!🏹⚔
THESE VIDEOS ARE BRILLIANT. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL VIDEOS. I ALSO KNOW SOME DETLS FROM FANDOM. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAV UNIVERSES. A HUGE FAN OF YOUR CHANNELS FROM Sri Lanka.
Good stuff, thanks
Top work guys
3319 was the downfall of Numenor. Off by quite a lot. 2280 was the year Umbar was made into a Numenorean fortress in general. Love your channel!
The thought that the evil spirit Sauron was able to keep his realm and empire of tributaries running through outsourcing and superior industrial capacity is really amazing. No twodimensional villain who manages to conjure armies from nowhere by snapping his fingers.
No wonder it took so long to establish his armies. He had to bribe, corrupt, grow, breed, feed and arm every kingdom in the vicinity to make it happen.
Excellent R u going to talk of the Empire of Numenor the Rise And for of this great empire?
@7:37 Interesting thought, were the Southron attacks on Gondor and Rhovanion that allowed the Dudenlings to attack the Rohirrim part of a wider strategy enacted by Sauron?
Please make next video on Elder scrolls
I hope we will get videos set round the Silmarillion and the War of the Jewels?
Good video, but the hammer sound got quite annoying after tap number 3 or something 😅
The channel Darth Gandalf does great videos on tons of topics exactly like this.
We waiting for another episode about Conan and Hyborian Age events ‼
I'd love some 40k lore if you can get people interested.
series on First Age?
The quote at 4:48 refers to the future corrupted Numenoreans, not to the Southrons.
Yea, I noticed too, a minor error perhaps.
Are you the one who posts the Reforged videos?
Arachir?
From a certain point of view, the Hobbits are evil 👀
😂Shut up Anakin
George Lucas writing the hobbit
True they are capitalists pigs
Well then you are lost!
Dialogue straight from the Mattel factory 😆 Unbelievably awful the 1st time lol...
Sauron kept his allies evil through the power of Amazon and Uber Eats. Nothing's more enticing than easy and fast access to food and foreign products
Came for Sauron....stayed for the Saruman.
Withertoos and wherefores giggle 👍
You made a good video but you made three mistakes.
1. During the Second Age, Sauron acted secretly with the lesser men as in the ancestors of his vassals during the Third Age. He did not act openly but he was busy. He spent this time spreading lies and half-truths among these men. These men were terrified of the Numenoreans' technology and jealous of them. You can guess Sauron, thinking ahead would make use of this to his advantage.
2. Tar Ciryatan. I will agree he was not among the nicest Numenorean king, he did not begin the practice of enslaving other men. That happened during Ar-Pharazon's reign. Tar-Ciryatan on the other hand conquered wide parts of the coastline of middle earth and demanded great tribute. What did he demand in tribute? metals and precious gems. Nothing mentioned slavery.
3. The Men of Harad did not do a single thing about ships during the Second Age and Sauron did not help them. (4:50). That was instead during the reign of Ar-Pharazon the last king of Numenor. Ar-Pharazon went to war with Sauron, captured him, and took him to Numenor. Sauron the greatest liar in Middle Earth wormed his way into becoming the King's Advisor and then that was when Numenor was at its nastiest. Which men were they hunting and enslaving? Harad, Rhun, and wildmen of Dunland. Sauron used the men of Numenor to attack his own allies, firmly linking them into his arms. Done perfectly I might add because the hatred endured for generations to come.
Other than that. Good video
Tolkien explicitly noted that if all the East and South served Sauron, the West would have been hosed, so many of them must have opposed him, in part aided by the Blue wizards. Considering this happened without the benefit of Elven influence and in spite of Morgoth and Sauron both building cults there ever since the FIRST Age, that's a pretty clear indication they aren't inherently evil (which, again, Tolkien said explicitly).
Just finished watching LoTR again, will watch the Hobbit after this. Hoping RoP won’t disappoint.
It will- we all know it, have known it for MONTHS
Pls make series for World of Warcraft?!
You can't compare Dunlendings to scots and Corsairs to ottomans, because (repeated ad infinitum) Tolkien hated allegory. :P
5:45 Hollywood Producers: Black Numenoreans u say?
Nice
Will we get a video how the Warhammer universe eventually industrialized?
Fantasy or 40K?
Take that Martin
maybe he had good benefits and holiday breaks?
Simple: Sauron told the Easterlings that the Westerners are coming after their bows and arrows.
or maybe he told then that westerners were racists against orcs
I feel like this video was made to prove a point to GOT fans haha
I have brought peace security and justice to my new empire!!!
🙂👍
Oh you mean how Amazon SHOULD have introduced people of different races instead of completely disregarding the lore? You don’t have to say it but I will say it for you.
Was Tolkien an economist?
“Sauron ruled over the men of the east wisely and well”
So Sauron (and Saruman) used that most evil of forces.... Economics!
While the actions they committed are truly evil, they have to choose between starve to dead or do immoral things to survive. So if you stuck in such a situation, what will you do?
Hastag. It's all erus fault 😁
Seriously though, Sauron seems to have done better controlling his subjects then his master
Eru wasn't controlling. That was the point. It was an allegory for God giving free will to humanity.
@@dtice69
The thing about eru was a joke lol
More elder scrolls vids already do it
Likening all the "evil men" in Tolkien's world to real life people and cultures is just low. Even if he was inspired by real cultures it was never a direct reference or allegory. Disappointing.
He gave them cookies
My answer is simply the author said so.
With this in mind, we now demand the Economy of the World of the Song of Ice and Fire (Planetos) series! We need to hear of Ironborne dealings and lucrative over the Narrow Sea trades!
Sigh
@@balabanasireti why the long face?
Saruman the drug dealer
Obligatory comment for the algorithm
Tolkien reads today like an ethno-eugenicists' wet dream.
Quite ironic, given the circumstances and time of writing the novels...
he condemned imperialism, but okay
Meh, waiting for sci fi conflicts soon.
The Haradrim done nothing wrong.....

Watching Lotr documentary make me excited for upcoming Rings Of Power series. Too long i haven't seen Tolkien work based movie and shows.
And who cares about the show being bad or not? It even didn't come out yet so for hater and lotr fans, i do understand that feeling but at least give it shot eh? See example House Dragon shows, it's good didn't they? maybe Amazon really appreciate 3 billion dollars anyway it lot money there lot budget then.
The whole point of a teaser and trailer is to make people care for a product.
So it's totally fair to have no interest in a film or series before watching it
Who cares about the show being bad or not? Fans lmfao. That's the simple answer. Why in God's name would you want a dogshit adaptation? You're just a consooooomer at that point.
Curb your hatred and watch some people review example you can go to Nerd Of Ring youtube....Your just hate because fear for they ruining most precious work ever in Fantasy history i too understand that and didn't want that but if you stopping people for give it try then it better just forget about all amazing Tolkien work without realising it into 21st century technology.
You didn't even watch yet but still hate for it, i don't understand minded people like this, bad or not, giving a try should be encouragingly.
I don't even have to argue with any of hatred of all, this 3 September would be my exited day, worse, bad or not it doesn't matter what matter is there's Tolkien work film and show finally came true after all year waiting.
@@steelshanks1265 u really didn't read eh? it releases on 2nd Prime Amazon lol, 3rd September is when it release on globally...telling me shite u don't know either
And then curse line was fan made, tolkien didn't write that specifically
@@steelshanks1265 Oh yeah, who review it is? Local youtube or hater like you who didn't want progress be made? who every strict parent like that?
IGN give 8/10 score for 2 first episode not whole show yet!
Nerd Of Ring give 8/10
The Hollywood Reporter give astounding review which make House Dragon look like amateur. example Tv line Daniel Fierbeng, Mason Dewey Gamespot,
Collider give review about score alone for just 2 episode only! not even entire show
Have you seen tomato 🍅 average yet? if not well it 86% -96% well received by critic, so even critic are shit as fuck well at least they accept and write good blog about show runnings right? so?
And don't forget it tv show not fucking movie! so there's fast paced and there's slow paced episode so you just have to watch it. It pretty clear you're just hate for no reason and i think you not even fan of tolkien work but rather following people bad influence, who didn't want to see anything attached to book genre, following people made line which Tolkien himself didn't write that "curse, curse what?" you don't watch then don't watch anf spread your bad and isolationism influence, watch other show like mental health drama maybe good for you.
And stop liking own comment, it embarrassing urself. Either way im happy it drop tomorrow and i will had my own review not like you who like to solemm yourself and want others follow through. what a LOL.
The description of the Easterlings as being like Middle East races
Is kinda evil look at us
But logical isn’t it 🇮🇶🇸🇾🇷🇺
I don’t see any similarities between harad and Middle East per say . I think it was more of Roman against the Turks looks more similar . Maybe closer to Asia perhaps
@@danmitchell1955 I didn't say harad .....harad is more like mix between bedwims and Persians but easterlings more like middle Eastern
Calm down
@@steelshanks1265 Southrons were 'swarthy' (darker skin, like Arabs) peoples from South, Easterlings, as you'd expect from the name, based more on East Asians or peoples from Russian steppes or Mongols.
The author wrote it that way because he's a British imperialist.
