I live 5 hours away from Graceland and I’ve toured the house a total 5 times and Sun studios twice. The last time I went in September 2020, the museums across the street from the house have been expanded and remodeled and it looks very nice. One time, I got up early to walk up to the gravesite at 7:30am. It was just me and my brother in the garden to ourselves. One of the security men pointed out a tree next to the house where Michael Jackson had carved his and Lisa Marie’s initials with a heart around it. It’s still there. The security man had told us that the Presleys don’t put a sign up to mark it but he points it out whenever he can. I took a picture next to it and I thought that was very cool for him to share. Awesome video. RIP Elvis.

Haunting words you said about Elvis not getting over his twin dying & birth & then losing his mother... & How he was never the same.... Now Lisa Marie has suffered the same fate of losing her son... & Now her grief may have caused her early demise.
    Heartbreaking.

It's so beautiful to walk up to the Meditation Garden in the early morning in the summer when the leaves are out on the trees and all the flowers and plants are in bloom and dew is covering everything. Elvis's spirit is definitely felt at Graceland.

Although this school _still_ deserves recognition for the simple fact Elvis attended & sang in a talent show there; he definitely *did not* “begin or start his singing career _there.”_ 🤦🏼‍♀️ He began his career in 1954, after walking into Sun records and singing. He was put onto the radio, July 8th, to be exact. Sam Phillips played him singing and started getting a flood of call-ins from all over, people requesting him to play it over & over. He sent people out to look for the man himself and brought him In to be interviewed and Elvis didn’t even know he was on the air. 😅
(He later admitted, if he’d had known, he would’ve been extremely nervous. He thought it was a casual conversation with Sam.)
He became famous almost instantly, over night. ♥️ Elvis will forever be the most unique, trendsetter. A truly rare man, who’s still imitated but never will come close, to justifiably, being duplicated- *He* _was_ the worlds one & only- The best.

Elvis was, and always will be, the greatest male singer ,songwriter, and performer of all time (in my humble opinion). I will never forget the night it was on television that he had passed. Trying to convince my sister and her friend who was staying the night, that he had gone, she was a huge Elvis fan, and once they saw it for themselves I heard the longest, loudest, and genuine grief outpouring ever. At least he left some of the most important music ever performed behind as his legacy. Thanks for sharing this awesome and poignant vlog Adam, respect. 😔😀👍🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The death of Elvis shocked me to my core. A heart-wrenching day. Completely dumbfounded, I wept upon hearing the tragic news. It was as if a family member had died. I met Elvis twice both times at the gates of Graceland. Once he was on horseback and the second time he was riding a golf cart. I didn't say anything, I didn't take pictures and I didn't ask for an autograph. I went to his concert in Jackson, MS. To me, it was like meeting royalty. I was humbled, quiet, and respectful. I don't concern myself with how or why he died. I visit his gravesite as often as possible. I miss him and his music. God Bless and Rest in Peace.

good question...but I think Vernon had died and buried there next to Elvis...then Gladys was placed there after Elvis grave had been situated between his dads and grandmother. Besides she is next to Jesse

    • @streaming1950
      @streaming1950 7 лет назад +19

Elvis was buried at Graceland with his mother on October 3, 1977. Vernon died two years later. And, as Adam stated in the video, Jesse is *not* buried at Graceland, but there is a small marker placed in memory of him next to Gladys. So it appears Vernon made the decision to place himself between Elvis and his mother, and again, based on how much Elvis adored his mother, I have always thought that was wrong ... but that's just my opinion.

An interesting fact: The hearse that carried Elvis, the white one in the photos, was destroyed by fire on the side of Interstate 75, just outside Valdosta, Georgia. It was sold to a dealer in Marietta, Georgia a few years after Elvis' death. The dealer's son was delivering it to a funeral director in south Florida, when it caught fire while driving. He pulled over and got out but the hearse was completely destroyed.

ELVIS and JFK I can tell you exactly where I was, When JFK was shot in tennessee[ memphis] I was in school and when ELVIS died I was on the road to do the advertising on a show that included BOBBY BEAR, WAYLON, HANK JR.and MEL TILLIS, When the news about ELVIS hit it was like time stopped for a few seconds, I can still see women crying and men who held it back and each star that performed that night said a prayer for the Presley family and each artist said THANKYOU ELVIS as they walked off stage,

I at the age of 8 recall catching my mother in tears and asking what was wrong. She replied with its all over the radio that Elvis died. She left the house and ran up the street to tell her good friend and I grabbed a small radio and sat on the steps and listened as DJ’s told of the heart breaking story. It was a very different time to hear of a famous person passing in such a way and it’s effect on people all over the country if not the world. It felt very personable.

He has some amazing music 🎶 🎵 and the movies 🎬 like Viva Los Vagas, Blue Hawaii and of course a lot more were awesome and still is. I would've loved to meet him in person I live in Virginia now and still can't seem to get there to see Graceland

Sorry to see you leave Arkansas... but what a fantastic way to start in Tenn. You probably get sick of hearing this, especially from me.... but when you are housebound, and your only view of the world is through a single window, day after day, you can not possibly understand (or maybe you can) how much these videos mean to me.... stay safe, and keep on vlogging! Love ya, Adam!

Well, I only hope you aren't housebound like me. I am in a wheelchair, and even if I could, I can't get down the eight stairs it takes to get to the outside door to my apartment building. Also, strange as it sounds, I have been housebound so long now, it kind of scares me to think of going outside. Which is hard for me, because I used to be out and about all the time. When I still lived in the States (Arkansas), I used to be a Sky Warn storm chaser.

LadyDragonsblood I can walk but I have medical conditions that make it impossible to walk far or be outside in the heat & UV rays. (Of course, I live in Florida where it is almost always hot & sunny) I don't have a working vehicle either, not that I could afford all that goes with owning a car. So I stay at home, alone, inside. I understand about being inside, alone for so long that going out becomes scary. I wish there was some way to make things easier for you. Can no one make a wee ramp for you instead of the stairs?

Well put together video enjoyed it, just a point on the naming of Graceland. Graceland was named by a farmer who owned the land, he named it after his daughter grace in the very late 1800s. With a name like Graceland I originally presumed it was named by Elvis.

Excellent video, Adam. In my humble opinion, Elvis was the greatest to ever perform. It's so weird to think that he died at age 42, the same age I am now. I remember when he died in 1977, even as a 3 year old, the sadness it caused to everyone around me, but mostly my parents, who were huge Elvis fans and owned his vinyl records. I have many, if not most of the Elvis catalogue on digital and CDs. When I think of him, I can picture him in the white/gold suit from Aloha From Hawaii. Larger than life is what Elvis was. G.O.A.T.
    Thanks for sharing this.

I went almost every summer as a child - my dad was a huge fan. My fave memory is two women whipping out Ziplocs from their back jeans pockets, grabbing handfuls of grass by the roots and shoving it into the bags for a souvenir. I was in awe that people would love him SOOO much as to do that. But, now I'm a big fan myself and get it.
