You will need to insulate your concrete as it has a very low R factor and will suck the heat right up. We learned this the hard way when we built a cold storage room. After the cooling bill ate us alive for a couple of years, we went in and insulated the 1 concrete wall of the cold room and that saved us a lot of money. I can only imagine it would be worse trying to heat a room as large as your fish room with that much concrete. "((The U-factor for Concrete Slabs)(Concrete Construction) A reasonable R-value for a normal concrete slab can be estimated using an R-value, the thermal resistance per inch of thickness, between 0.1 and 0.2 and multiplying it times the slab thickness. For a 6-inch slab, R-value would be between 0.6 and 1.2.)" I am returning to the hobby after a 25-year hiatus. And dang it has been expensive.
@@sydneysangels there's a product called allure which works really well on concrete floors. It's floating vinyl strips with glue tabs. Only about a 1/4 thick and goes straight onto concrete. Not sure of thw r value but it's comfortable to walk on in sock in the winter and bullet proof for flooding and damage.
Wow, you have a great fish room and healthy fish + breeding setups. I'm setting up a 29 gallon and 14 gallon cube over the next 8-10 weeks. I will definitely keep you in mind for some fish - looking for corys, cpds, 2-3 plecos, and a centerpiece angelfish.
Great job on the room! What a nice job you did setting it up. And with a full time job and young kids? I am in that club too and am amazed at your ability to set this up! I also understand the number of CPDs with the auto egg collector! I set up a planted tank with about 40 CPDs that I bred and I love it!
Incredible assortment of small fish well done.love just voice with very quiet, low music in the background this one absolutely is not distracting. i’ll see you have a nice voice calm.can tell you have a fish addiction.thanks for sharing.your dad and you did a fantastic electrical job with independent box that’s the ticket
@@sydneysangels something else to consider is sealing between the baseboard and the floor with a bead of silicone or caulking. I found that it prevents alot of cold air from entering my fish room that would otherwise fall down behind the walls and spill into the room. And it also seems helps prevent mold issues by keeping condensation off the baseboards where all that cold air meets warmer air as it enters the room.
This showed up on my suggestion list and I loved the Peppermint plecos but unfortunately they were out of stock but I ordered 4 rainbowfish instead! Can't wait to get them!
Also I’m not sure how much room is in the middle, but if it was me I’d put an island with storage and a work top. Maybe even a 4 foot tool box. You’ll thank me in a year lol.
There's not much to show, I just change the water and feed them! They take care of the rest. I'm not sure to be honest! I bought them as adults so your guess is as good as mine
I actually don't have an auto water change system, I do them all manually. The new fish room will be automatic though and I'll make a video of that for sure
Thank you 😊 I've actually never kept rice fish until a couple weeks ago. I'm hatching eggs out right now in methylene blue and so far so good! Are you having issues with the eggs?
Had three hygger lights 48 up to 48 inch stop working after 2 years seems a short life.THE BUTTON ARE A REAL problem. Brittle collapse onto themselves.for almost 70 dollars not happy
Hey fish DUDE, Nice video....I hope your going to show the phases of your new fish room build. I'm expanding mine & like getting different perspective. Are you going to carry other kinds of fish? If so what kind...how many tanks are you looking to have ? Thanks
Thanks!! I plan on making a video about the build for anyone that's interested! Hmmm not sure what fish I'll keep, I'll probably always specialize in rainbowfish but I would love to get into rice fish, tetras, nano fish, cichlids, Cory's and plecos as well! I'm not sure how many tanks I'll have, I guess as many as I can fit hahaha
Huge fan of your fish room! Always enjoy your update/tour vids!
Thank you 😊

Thank you SO much for this advice. I really appreciate it! Do you think thick foam sheets would be sufficient?

That's solid advice! What do you think about putting it on casters so I can move it out of the way to replace tanks / catch fish for shipping?

Hello!!!
@@sydneysangels Cheers
if you ever get enough raccoon tetras to sell I will be first in line to get some!
I'll have to start collecting some eggs, there have been a few people interested!
Great content 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
You can't have two favorite rainbowfish (goyder river and kali moysi). Oh wait, they're both melanotaenia.
Haha I realized that after I shot it. Whoops!
