In singapore we have no tolerance for drug dealers. Its death penalty for them. This is why my country is clean n homelessness is almost unseen of. We do have but they are given shelters n support grp . I am glad we stood firm in our harsh punishment against drugs

I'm from California, in 1986 my family and I attended the Vancouver Expo '86 and I fell in love right away because it is too safe where children can play outside without parental supervision. I dreamed of moving to Vancouver in particular 'cause we have relatives there who then move to SF Bay Area so I did not pursue my plan. I was shocked to see the beautiful, safe Vancouver, Canada is now similar to Los Angeles and San Francisco. But there is still hope if those irresponsible Leaders be kicked out of their power. My solution is, take over a closed state/federal prison (just for the confined controlled area) and provide the necessary treatment and care until they can integrate back into the community. They MUST be removed from the city streets as it's destroying the rest of functioning society. It's not just Vancouver. The problem is less visible in other cities, but it's there. And sometimes our mayors just make it "invisible" by forcing the homeless out of our downtown areas, as has happened in Kitchener (Ontario) this year. The fact that we don't see them doesn't mean they don't exist. Canada should be ashamed of letting tens of thousands of people go homeless. Worse yet, a recent poll showed that 25% of us think the homeless and the unemployed should avail themselves of the Medically Assisted Suicide program we now have. Speaking from experience, When I was a kid here in India. I saw so many poor people begging for money just to be able to eat food. Poverty was everywhere roughly 15 years ago. Many people used to provide them food, clothes and money back then. Fast forward to now, I rarely see any homeless and beggars in India at least in my city. The poor who used to be everywhere are now confined to select streets and corners, living under flyovers and nearby temples/rail stations. There used to be a lot of slums, a lot of them have vanished overtime. Roads used to be full of potholes, now they're very good except in certain areas. I personally see everywhere in Asia , the situation seems to improving but in the west especially north America and Europe the situation seems to be getting worse each and every day.

There are "shelter" laws in India. You simply don't see the poor people on the street cause they live in overcrowded shelters. Most of the homeless people you see in North America are drug addicts and alcoholics or people who can't afford the rent because of the real estate bubble. The poor people in India are still much poorer than the homeless people in North America if they both have jobs. The average quality of life is still much worse in India than in either North America or Europe. You don't seem to see it!

My band played in a bar/theater on this street about 6 years ago, it was actually even worse back then. The cops let people do whatever they want as long as they kept it to one little area (notice how much cleaner the other side of the street is). I remember a dude OD'ing in front of that Salvation Army. Needless to say, unloading our gear in the street wasn't very fun

People from far away countries think Canada is a heaven, if they only knew how hard is to survive here.

It will only get worse in Communistic Canada. You are no longer a democratic country. I think you're moving closer to North Korea. However, I like North Koreans better than North Americans.

Would be terrible to live in any city, homeless or not, the best life is out on a isolated rural property with nature.
