kind of very envious of this collection 😁 I've got all the novels in those cheap, wordsworth editions from where i was studying/annotating them, plus a second edition of Villette which is illustrated. I also have the a collection of the juvenelia, the Gaskell biography, Charlotte's letters, Juliet Barker's 'The Brontes' and a copy of one of the Bronte Studies journals with my fave Villette essay in it 🤦♀🤦♀ I'd love to own/read Glass Town though!! thanks for sharing
I took a class on the Bronte's at UCLA, so I really got into it. the book for the class was the huge book, "The Brontes, which I still have. I bought several of my books used at the UCLA bookstore. I have an Penguin English Library edition of both Shirley and Villette, (I had the same Professor you did, but I was not a fan and gave it away to our library bookstore years ago. I have several copies of Jane Eyre, including the Pan MacMillian edition, which I just bought. It is my favorite of Charlotte's books. I have Penguin Black Spine of both Agnes Grey and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall , I love Anne a lot, she was a wonderful writer, I love both books, I think that Agnes Grey is very overlooked, which is a shame. (I had Wuthering Heights, but sorry I was not a fan, so I gave it to one of my friends at school who adored it.) I also have an Everyman Library edition of all their poems that I still have. I love Emily's poems very much. I would like to get more copies of Anne's works but I am on a budget so it will be as I found them at a price I can afford. Your classes sound fun, I wish I could sit in on one.
I bought 7 black hardback large print books of classics at a rummage sale in the late 80’s, including Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. That really got me started. I love that old copy of Wuthering Heights! I’m about the same age 😆
How about picking up the French edition of your favourite translated French book as a motivator for learning French? That's how I go about learning foreign languages - learning Russian to read Pushkin in his original glory and Japanese to read all the untranslated Ekuni Kaori books!
