    Thank you very much for posting. I was not aware of the LED lights. I have a 2010 that shows three lights. My screen has been ripped out so I must try and get that sorted. At least I know now the graphics card is okay.👍

    One more thing to try if LED 3 doesn’t light up is change the PRAM battery, that little watch battery in the front. Then do PRAM reset on the next boot.

    You guys are treasures. U go buy cheap iMac deals and fix em well, u know so much! But I’m disappointed that you have not done a start to end video for a 27" mid 2010 iMac that needed a non stock GPU replacement with all the details.
    Come on guys when will you do this so many faulty but legendary iMacs out there! 😊

    Have you tried to reflow the GPU in the oven, nothing much to loose if it is faulty. After that cover it well with the thermal paste when installing back and take out the ODD so it has better cooling and is more temperature stable when it starts up.

    It's possible that the newer iMac is just not compatible with the older GPU or the GPU connector on the motherboard is busted. If it's the 1st, there shouldn't be any trouble, but if it's the 2nd, it's busted.

    • @MacintoshMen
      @MacintoshMen  3 года назад

      I’m also starting to think that the older GPU isn’t compatible anymore. Well, we will find out once the 870M arrives.

    • @galaxyanimal

      @@MacintoshMen That does seem more likely, as the computer did turn on with the other GPU, which it didn't with the busted one.

    Hello, May I ask a question? My iMac shows white screen and progress bar when opening but doesn't continue after somewhere and complete! What is the problem? How can I solve this? Thanks for your paying attention.

    • @MacintoshMen
      @MacintoshMen  Год назад

      It can be a lot of stuff, but firstly try resetting the PRAM. If this doesn't help maybe try reinstalling the OS. You might also have a dead hard drive. But in this case you'd have a blinking folder icon.. I'm not sure, can't say exactly what it is.

  • @geneberenki7181
    @geneberenki7181 3 года назад

    Seem to recall it won't boot if the RAM sticks are in the wrong slots. In one shot you had 2 on the same side. They need to be one either side/bank and also in either front or rear slots only, can't recall which. Better still: fill all 4 slots and be done with it.

    • @MacintoshMen
      @MacintoshMen  3 года назад +1

      No, that has nothing to do with it. It even played the chime. There is clearly the GPU the issue.

  • @walkinggod
    @walkinggod 3 года назад +1

    What is the gpu that u think is the best for this 27 iMac and I’m talking about original GPU not mods ones?

    • @MacintoshMen
      @MacintoshMen  3 года назад +2

      The best original card was the HD 6970M, but I highly highly recommend NOT getting it because they fail a lot. As you can perfectly see on mine in the video. Better get a for example 765M, it's reliable and faster.

    Bro, great video. A customer brought me one of these these things with a messed up 21.5 display. I'm guessing that it is a bit newer than this one only by how much thinner it is around the edges. This thing is just not worth fixing. I tried researching it a bit with practically no info available. The specs are crap. Everything about it sux.

    • @MacintoshMen
      @MacintoshMen  Год назад +1

      I wouldn't bother with the one you have. Those are a pain to disassemble and reassemble because of the glued screen. Especially with bad specs it's just a waste of time in opinion.

      @@MacintoshMen Bro!?! Seriously? A glued screen? Wow! No wonder I cracked it, 😂 What a piece if crap.
      Ya, I bumped into that customer yesterday and he said that he was going to come and pick this thing up. When I confessed that I had broken it, his eye brows raised briefly, with a bit of a surprised look then a smile and he says that I owe him a new one. I bust out laughing(because that's just crazy talk), and he starts smiling and walking away saying, just kidding.
      I have a kid that I bounce ideas off of sometimes come by and I told him, that I told the customer that he broke it😆
      I still want to buy that over priced itool kit at my local computer store, basically just for the suction cup for when one like yours turns up.
      Bro, when you bought that thing, I was like yelling at the TV, Nooooo! Don't Do It!!!! OMG Kid!!! Nooooo! But, I guess you couldn't hear me, lol. The store only sells the cups separately by the pair of course, grrr. Plus, they were even out of the $15 USD packaged pairs of stupid cups. $22 USD for the itool kit with one cup.
      I'm not totally burned out on computers, I've been messing with overclocking my i9 10900k and I've got him jacked up to 5.40 GHz. I mess around with a lot of Heaven, Valley, 3DMARK, R23 stuff, too. Well, stupid R/C trucks now, too. The cheap ones!! I've got a 19.2 battery power pack that I built wiring six 3.2 ion batteries together in series and I'm trying to find one that can take this much power. Yes, I am very bored, lol.

      i7? This thing has an i7? Come on? Really? I had hell even finding the most basic info on this iturd. Let me go look at that video. I'm thinking about buying one for parts with a good, unbroken display and fixing his at my time/expense, because I don't like losing.

    Led 3, not working is their way to fix that ?

  • @wawawis
    @wawawis Год назад

    I'm about to put my first through my 20111 iMac. It went from working when I briefly stepped out of the room and broke when I came back in. Both fans race, the backlight is working, it detects RAM (beeps when I removed the RAM cards), and all the diagnostic indicators light up as they should.
    However, there is no chime, a black screen, though illuminated, and the USB input jacks appear to be dead as there are no lights from the mice or from either keyboard. USB jacks appear to be completely dead. I've looked up various resets, but they don't seem to work.
    I would think a hard drive failure wouldn't cause the USB jacks to quit. Same with a RAM card failure. All the diagnostics indicators are lit, yet it has remained unbootable with dead USB inputs for a month. It's very frustrating as I can't find any examples of another example of an iMAC with the exact symptoms of mine. I'm suspecting a rare failure within the motherboard.

    • @MacintoshMen
      @MacintoshMen  Год назад

      I also suspect you have a failing motherboard. If only your GPU would be broken it would at least still do the chime. I'd also rule out the PSU since it lights up all the LEDs and the fans work.

    Das Ausbauen ist echt zum Kotzen - Ich bin gedanklich bei Dir...
    Bei meinem 2011er 21 Zöller war auch die Grafikkarte hin. Durch u.a. Deine Beiträge motiviert hab ich nen Tausch auf Quadros versucht, 2 passende sowie gelistete Modelle gekauft und beide Male von der kulanten Rückgabemöglichkeit des Verkäufers Gebrauch gemacht. Leider wollte bei beiden Quadro K-Modellen LED 3 nicht leuchten... Hab im Endeffekt die alte Radeon gebacken - dann ging sie wieder. Der positive Nebeneffekt: Mit jedem Mal Grafikkarte tauschen geht's schneller 😅
