    I’m seeing loads of guys in high waisted trousers in London. It’s a really refreshing look. I was startled to see this trend after years of skinny jeans but they’re very flattering and elegant even when styled casually

    I want them to look old fashioned and "old man-ish", but in-between baggy and slim with a higher rise. Informale has to be my favorite. Thanks!

      @aassante Месяц назад +4

      100% agree! A pair of navy T005's from Informale would likely prove to be the easiest thing for anyone to wear outside of corporate or formal situations. They're the perfect first step into high-waisted pants as you could always go untucked, add a layer, or cheat and wear them less high if the look pushes too far out of your immediate comfort zone. I was outside of my comfort zone when the founder Steve Calder charmed me into buying mine years ago and I've since worn them more than anything else in my wardrobe. And with tanks, t-shirts, hockey jerseys, cashmere turtlenecks

    Honestly, my recommendation for someone who’s not sure whether to drop the money (as they’re typically expensive in menswear for some reason) is to go into M&S or Zara with a white shirt on and go to the ladies section, pick up a pair, see if you like the overall look

      I’ve found luck looking at military surplus pants in non-battle dress uniform (BDU) trousers for a low cost high rise option. They are often high rise in classic cuts. I’ve also had regular modern cut pants that were a size too large and having them altered down to my true waist (belly button level) size. The extra material in the larger pant size mean they can comfortably rest at a higher rise.

    Not on the most affordable side, but I can't recommend enough the "Officer Chinos" by Rubato. Mid-High rise, beautiful construction and materials. I was very lucky to get a pretty much brand new pair for 130€ and they're my favorite and most used smart/casual pair of pants

    This is what fixed my baggy ass syndrome. I always thought the reason I had baggy asses on my fits was my small backside, but in reality it wasn’t. Once I switched to higher waist, the pants stay in place up there without sliding down all the time.

    Some good recommendations there, however some really didn’t look high waisted to me. Possibly because I have incorporated them in my wardrobe for a while now. Some other recommendations would be Lemaire, for those that have a bigger budget and are not afraid to wear a more relaxed version. At the other end of the price scale is Suit Supply who offer a few lovely pieces, particularly their black linen ones. Finally there is Cos which offer a number of variations. Their Atelier line are made to a really high standard but are limited in quantity.

    I wish it was easier to find them from cheaper brands like a $50 pair of dockers with just a little more fabric up top. I was able to get some at DXL for $55, but they're pleated. And I like them, but now I need to find a flat fronted pair. If anybody wants to get the pants from DXL, they have waist sizes 42 and up

    I need high waisted for better proportion. I'm 6'3 but only have 31inch inside leg so I'm a bit top heavy. If my legs were in proportion with my torso I'd be something daft like 6'9

    • @gotthefeelin
      @gotthefeelin Месяц назад

      Is that your actual leg measurement, or the length of the trouser? I’m the same height as you and usually take a 32” trouser leg, but my actual measurement is 34”.
      Before I took any notice about the details of menswear, I’ve found trousers to not only look wrong on me (torso looks way too long), but they’ve been very uncomfortable to wear as I’m slim. The culprit has been low rise trousers that sit on my hip bone.
      I found a pair of higher rise trousers in a charity shop a few years ago and they made a huge difference, but it’s pretty disheartening to find that the rise I need is so hard to buy now.

    • @jamieward3574
      @jamieward3574 Месяц назад

      @gotthefeelin actual measurement. It's annoying. The other thing that sucks for me is if you aren't wearing fairly high rise, shirts don't stay tucked because they're rarely long enough for my torso. I ended up getting Eton extra long shirts for the office just so they stay tucked it

    Can trousers be too high waisted? I've got a pair of ex-military ones that are honestly nearer my nipples than my belly button. I do wear them but I'm never brave enough to tuck my shirt in

    • @LukeHodges
      @LukeHodges  Месяц назад

      It depends on your personal style. I know a few guys that wear them very high and it fits their aesthetic well. I tend to be a bit more reserved and have a similar pair to the ones you mention and probably wouldn’t tuck a shirt in when wearing them as it feels a bit much.

    Been wearing a pair of Gurkhas the last two years. Im a bit tubby and not tall and having checking myself in the mirror over time im thinking its a slim mans garment. I feel like i look like uncle Monty sometimes in them. Im sure when i lose weight and tone up itll work better. Height 5, 8 and about 90kg plus

    • @aassante
      @aassante Месяц назад +1

      Wear what you're comfortable in! Gurkhas inherently have more fabric around the top because of he way they buckle. As a stockier guy, my advice would be to evaluate the cut to ensure they're sitting on the waist as opposed to the hips. Depending on your frame, this may balance and streamline silhouete. If you really like the idea of Gurkhas, I'd invest in having a pair made for you as your frame is likely not going to suit your typical house cut. If you do, consider a single buckle Gurkha as opposed to a double closure, and double inward pleats to allow for movement and comfort when sitting.
