The Pogos, Djangos, Bongos or Malangos of this (French driven) world have 20 years advance on the bigger brands. Slowly those are picking up (First series by Beneteau, 30OD by Dehler...) but the original stays the real thing to me. In the end, 90% of the future boats will look this way: flat, wide stern and more or less light. You can't turn back evolution. From there, the foilers are already waiting :-)
I'd cut my arm for a Pogo 30 or 36. They're just perfect.

RM too. Yes they are fabulous. But are they comfortable in bad weather, and do you really want to be steering on such a broad deck in rough weather?

There is something to be said about fast boats that out run hurricane and slow ones that get caught . Back in the 70s, i was a 6 we said our family Coronado 27 to Hawaii several times. One time we were getting ready to leave.hanalei bay on kauai. The truimp came in the nite before. We were loading the provision for our trip home into our dingy. When the captain of the truimp came into shore. I started up a conversation with him. Asked when they were leaving. He said as soon as we get a crew. The boat was a large C&C i loved it because i would sail by it every week in marina del rey calif . Where our boat and their was from. He ask if i could sail i said we came over on that. Point to our modest boat. He then invided me to sail home on the truimp. My parents left a day before us . But we passed them the first day out for us we rode the front all the way across the westerly's pegging the knot meter. My parent on the other hand got caught up by the hurricane, it wasnt forecasted before we left. And you had to chart weather by a marine radio that was o ly weather around the world back then. But it is nice.
to be able to outrun storm.

An acquaintance bought one. Due to the light weight construction; lifting keel; rudder and propellor layout, manoeuvrability around docks when using the engine is very tricky in a breeze without (an essential) bow thruster. Going fast A to B is great, but coming alongside without a drama is also desirable. Caveat Emptor !

Me thinks one doesn't buy a POGO to dock well. I can see it being tough. Our new Trimaran is nearly impossible :)

Sometimes this type of boat is better to reverse in tricky spots.

Every boat is designed to fit a program. For a liveaboard and extensive cruising I wouldn't change our beloved Sharki. But for week holidays from time to time I would have a thought.

The Sharki is such a good boat, I do agree! But will still be curious about something that goes fast 🏁💪🕺

As long as you can live flying a spinnaker or assymetrical foresail running downwind then the answer is yes.
If you want to do anything else than go across the wind then forget about it ...
NOT very good boats but lots of space.
Its why they sell seond hand for cheap.
People are lured into buying them and then sell them on once they find out for themselves how BAD they are.

@@OuterPassage My pleasure. If your course is that of the masses then fine. Just trying to be of assistance.
Once bought you're stuck with ot for a while.
