I'm in my late 40ies and haven't been doing any exercise for the last 10 years. But I did yoga for several years when I was young and during my pregnancies. I'm still incredibly flexible and still have a surprisingly strong core considering how long I've not been doing anything to stay in shape.

Mayurasana is not quite a Planche, although it could definitely be a progression towards one. I do both occasionally they isolate separate muscles. I have never gotten scorpion though, as my body is not flexible enough yet. I do agree that they are both difficult. Have you been able to accomplish a scorpion?

current routine is gym + yoga + skate. that gets me outside, doing something I enjoy, while the gym strength me muscle to keep doing what I love and yoga helps with my balance, mobility and to rest the muscles from gym and skating.

I tried the gym routine, and it just wasn’t for me. I deal with anxiety, and one day I just decided to try yoga. Years later, I’ve practiced on and off, and that’s what seems to help me physically and mentally. To each their own. It’s all about mental endurance and building strength within and without 🙌🏼

Yoga has some really difficult postures like Mayurasana/Peacock pose (Planche) and Vrischikasana/Scorpion pose
