@@MrThermostatic That is a rumor, How ever Lon Chaney had to sit in the make-up chair for 6 hours and the yak hair for The Wolfman was very itchy so he was very aggravated with the process.
Yeah, I'm just going on what I've heard from reading various books over the years, but apparently Lon & Jack Pierce just had a clash of personalities & the frustrations of Lon having to endure those time consuming make-up jobs didn't help. I know one story that stands out to me--one day during the filming of "Ghost of Frankenstein," Lon got so frustrated that he ripped the headpiece for the Monster off & opened up a serious gash on his head in the process....
It would have been very helpful to the movie viewer if Universal Studios could explain why no matter what clothing Lawrence Talbot was wearing, the Wolf Man was always dressed in the same dark shirt and dark pants..... IN EVERY MOVIE !
That would be a great (goof) deleted scene. The Wolf Man gets up and leaves the hospital in his white pajamas, only to return seconds later and head to the closet to change into his signature dark shirt and slacks, trying on several belts in the process!

Final Word: Final Word: Superior, The best and most realistic transformation scene using the Animation technique. This is the Best Website to view it!!!Indeed this scene- and only this scene!! is more realistic than most if not all of the subsequent attempts using CGI and pre- CGI labor intensive techniques such as used in American Werewolf in London..
Interesting that from 0:53 - 1:42 the creases on the pillow don't change.... must of used a solid one to help make the transformation seem realistic......
Worst than that..Gary..Poor"Larry Talbot"/"The Wolfman"is in that hospital bed in that ward..seeing the full moon..come thru that open window..and although he doesn't say it..he is probably thinking to himself(Before he turns back into that dangerous beast)"Oh No! Not Again!".
Interesting fact: the pillow larry's head is laying on during the transformation is actually plaster of paris with cloth glued to it to prevent the wrinkles from changing during the filming of this sequence.
These Makeup Effects were done with Time-Lapse Photography, and despite being a Low-Tech Process, They were actually quite effective, Because you would be able to see the different stages of Chaney's Werewolf Transformation.
Best transformation of all the old Wolf-Man movies. They may not have liked each other, but Pierce and Lon Chaney were a great duo.... ✌
No I think the mirror one in House of Frankenstein was better
Why didn't they like each other?

@@improperbostonian6722 Yes I heard he had behavioral and drinking issues. I'm sure being in the shadow of his great father didn't help.

They never explain how the Wolfman is coherent enough to strap his trademark dark shirt
It's the same logic as the Hulk's purple pants. Probably

Yes, it was actually made from plaster of Paris. Good eye! 👁 👁
Imagine if the nurse had to check on him while making her rounds.
The cop is probably saying to himself"Why can't I have a quiet night for once?"

That nurse probably would be dead once Talbot’s transformation was done

That poor guy..laying his head on those plaster pillows..was not fun and..neither was his undergoing Jack Pierce's make up treatments.

When does he change into those clothes and where did he get that "Wolfman" suit?
Just like in the comics, no matter what Dr. Banner was wearing, the Hulk always wore purple pants.
Those films were shot in B&W..so..we don't know the color of Lonnie's"Wolfman"costume..or? the color of that make up.
looking like frank leotardo in the sopranos
It looks like you can see Lon's nose through the Wolfman's nostrils
As a kid, I thought that was a booger.
Oh no 😧
