The dawning horror and realization on his face when Sir John sees that he's killed his own son is chilling. I'm sure that as a father of an only child, Claude Rains considered that in his performance, and tried to place himself in Sir John's shoes. You can see it in his face.
The remake to me is a crappy film. The talents of Benicia Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins were wasted. I felt the fight scene between them was nothing more than an Action Movie. The poignancy and power in this film is missing in the remake, in my opinion.
@@thomasromano9321 , you are missing the point. The remake pulled a twist- that Lawrence's father was the werewolf that bit him. It's something that nobody expected. And I actually like both movies,( the original movie and remake).
@@kevinskywalker5539 I'm quite aware of the remake, that Lawrence Talbot's father turned his own son into a werewolf. But missing was the terrific acting from Claude Raines and Lon Chaney Jr. in the original version. The scene in the original movie where the old gypsy woman gently talks to the dying Chaney as he changes from a werewolf to a man is a masterpiece in my opinion. What does the remake offer? This movie doesn't get nearly as much acclaim as it deserves. it's a story about a man bitten by a werewolf, a story about the complex relationship between an estranged father and son, a story about the duel nature of man, a really sad love story, and a solid psychological thriller/mystery with six reasonably well-developed characters of both genders, all in a 70-minute run-time.

It is waxing up to the full, then full, then starts to wane, so, again, is it not really "full" only one night of the cycle?
