    Correction:
It actually is fairly plausible that Survivor 50 could result in 4’s. If 50 contains no 1’s or 2’s, but has at least one 3, then all nulls on 50 would now be 4, and everyone from their original seasons would be 5. Though, I don’t see the likelihood of that happening being very high. Or, if 50 has a 2, but no 1’s, then all nulls on 50 would now be 3, and everyone else from their original seasons would be 4. Those 1’s really are the deciding factor.

So basically you're saying we'll get 4s, no matter what, so long as there are no direct returnees whatsoever from Seasons 4, 8, 20, 22, and 40. (Well, and so long as Seasons 39 and 41-49 aren't the only pool of players, of course, otherwise the Null factor for these seasons is preserved.)
I could actually see that happening if the casting directors go out of their way to avoid casting winners (particularly those from Season 40, which includes Rob of course), and there's definitely some chance they employ that philosophy. We'll see.
It also means, of course, no surprise first-time returnees from Seasons 4 and 22 (e.g. Sean, Vecepia, David, Ralph, you never know!)... and I think that's a likely prospect. Then, avoiding Season 8 is... also within the realm of good possibilities, I'd say, with the exception of casting Rob C or someone like Lex, but yeah, a lot of that cast is getting pretty old now.
The big problem comes from Season 20. It means no Cirie, James, Coach, Russell, Jerri, JT... So yeah, who knows what might go through Jeff Probst's brain, but avoiding all those classic winners (Sandra, Parvati, Tony, Rob himself) and then all the superstars of the game (Cirie, Rupert, Russell, Coach)... it's certainly possible but it would CERTAINLY be a bold casting choice!

@@BowieZ Yeah, exactly! It all depends on how much restraint they have for 50 and what season(s) they decide to pull from. I see them sticking to mostly people from the Fiji-era (33 onwards), with maybe a couple old schoolers, but we’ll see.

It would be interesting to do this with tribes instead of seasons, that might add a bit more complexity to it

If you use different players, There are 5 degrees of separation between some one time players (Eg Rafe in Guatemala to Fabio in Nicaragua). Here's how: Fabio in 21 played with Brenda (1), who played with Andrea & Malcolm in 26 (2), who played with Sandra, Tony & Sarah in 34 (3), who played with Danni in 40 (4), who played with Rafe in Guatemala (5). I don't think you can get to 6 degrees of separation between players from playing around it.
Could also use Cochran to Sophie, Phillip Francesca and Andrea to Rob, Malcolm to Denise, or Erik to Parvati, all to get to Danni. Really fun playing around with this concept!

@@connorsheppard4555 Yeah, it would be cool if someone were to create a program or something where you could enter any two contestants and return their degrees of separation, if it exists.

Love this! I've been trying this for like an hour including other shows like Traitors and Big Brother and the biggest I''ve been able to find so far is still 3. Would love to see a video trying to find the biggest number out of all reality tv competition shows.

@@Macasaurus Yeah, I thought about expanding it to other shows too, but, at that point, I wasn’t sure where to cut it off. Do you count just competition shows that Rob has been on? Do you count talk-show appearances? Do you count podcasts? I wasn’t sure where to draw the line, but I figured just leaving it within the confines of Survivor was the easiest and cleanest, plus that’s where most of my knowledge lies.

Survivor 50 has a real chance to give us 5s, and a very outside chance of getting to 6, and here's how. Survivor 50, we don't know the theme, but I think it's most likely they're going to pull from one time players between seasons 35-49. That's 13 newbie seasons. I suspect they'll do what they did for Survivor All Stars of getting at least one person from each season to represent, but they might not that's quite a few. But even if there's no Jamal or Janet to represent IoI, I think they will definitely have someone from David vs Goliath, because why would CBS leave that money on the table? If Survivor 50 does not at least have one of Christian, Angelina, Davie, Gabby or Natalie, than I will be shocked (if not least three of them).
So, it's likely that Survivor 50 will have someone with a Rob score of 2. We could get a 1, but I would bet on a new all stars approach so probably not. This will give everyone else a score of 3. To put it into names: Angelina Keely (2) is going to be on a starting tribe with Carolyn Wiger (3). Retroactively, everyone who was on 44 who isn't on 50 is going to be a 4. In fact, 4 would then be the new number for most new era contestants, so congratulations Kane you have a Boston Rob score of 4. I would say that this is the modal outcome, that Survivor 50 is going to bloom the cast into a bunch of fours. Unless, three weird things happen:
    1) We get no one pre-40, everyone stays null. Or like... the only season they pull from pre-40 is Island of the Idols, which is even less likely.
    2) Survivor 50 decides to cast someone from Seasons 44 or 45, but not both. The new era has one returnee: Bruce, and he gives us those plausible 5s I mentioned. So let's go back to Carolyn, who is gonna have a 3 from the prior example, being on a starting tribe with Angelina. Everyone else on 44 (Kane) is going to have a 4 Boston Rob score. This includes Bruce. Now let's say casting ultimately decides not to bring back winner Dee or shot in the dark winner Kaleb or Jeaprody champion Drew or anyone else from 45. I don't think that's likely, there's a lot of good choices but sure. In that case, all these players become 5s. I think this could happen, though it's not super likely because they are 100% going to cast Carolyn Wiger unless she can't do it, and 45 was a very popular new era season with a lot of great casting choices.
    3) Technical possibility, let's get to six. Survivor 50 decides to cast mostly new era people: however, they want to bring in some people from the 30s, and for whatever reason they just can't get people, they are unavailable. No one from David Vs. Golliath, the most guaranteed pre-40 season to have cast members on 50. However, thank our lucky stars, they got Rick Devins.
Rick Devins has a Boston Rob separation score of 3, and he starts on a tribe with Carolyn Wiger, who is now at 4. Bruce did not come back a third time, so he is at 5. Now even though this season is presumably heavily new era, they must have cast like half the tribe from 46-49, because no one is there from 45. Somehow. But because of this, everyone on 45 besides Bruce will be six degrees separated from Boston Rob. Also, it could be the case that no one was cast from 44, but they cast idk, Drew? (Jeaprody Champion) so everyone on 44 except Bruce has six degrees of separation. That's not happening. In fact this whole scenario three is definitely not happening, like in any practical way.
My prediction is that after Survivor 50, we will have max two seasons with a null score (Island of the Idols, and I guess 49 if it's a disaster or their good cast finds don't want to do back to back seasons?). Survivor 50 will bring in some people from the pre-Covid seasons, but they will all be one time players so we can get some new all stars. This excludes all the returnee seasons Rob was on, and also I don't think we're likely getting the return of anyone from Redemption Island or Marquesas (I would love Sean to come back, I don't think it's happening). But it does mean we get someone from David Vs Goliath who isn't Nick, and that is our person with two degrees of separation (if not more people). So Angelina Keely (2) shares a tribe with new era people who now all have three degrees of separation. And all of the people on their original seasons will now have four.
Of course, Boston Rob could be back for Season 50, and as much as I want to clear the field and get some new stars here, am I going to deny that I am not morbidly curious to see what would happen if Boston Rob and Q shared a tribe?
