This is the first time she is doing a show, since her chemo and radiation treatments 2 years ago. She has the most beautiful mezzo soprano voice and has done many solos over the years. This year our 4 year old granddaughter will be in attendance. I am so proud of my wife’s determination to sing again, after her cancer treatments She had a very aggressive uterine cancer. My Mom used canned yams and candied them. I like sweet potato casserole home made. Add butter a little maple syrup. Beat like you would mashed potatoes.
Boy, that sweet potato pudding looks great! When you said Post Toasties, did you mean Corn Flakes? My mother always made the sweet potato casserole with marshmallows on top. And my dad always made the cranberries. He helped my mom with the turkey dressing too. I would wake up around 8:00 and the smell of the turkey filled the house. We always had to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade too at 9:00, with a cup of hot chocolate. Those were the days!

Baking the sweet potatoes allows the sugars to stay in the potato. My Mama always baked them. We raised sweet potatoes to sell. Hundreds of bushels! Mama would make sweet potato pies by the dozens and stack them up in the freezer. Sometimes she added coconut too.

I take clean, dry sweet potatoes and rub them with Crisco shortening and oven bake them. I don’t wrap them up. Once they are ready I let them cool and then the peeling come off so easy. I love baked sweet potatoes as a side dish with a grilled Ribeye 😊

My Mom baked the sweet potatoes in cookie sheet. We peeled them and sliced and placed in casserole dish, sprinkled brown sugar and some pieces of butter and covered with mini marshmallows and bake until nice and lightly brown.

I just made your sweet potato casserole recipe. I added 2 tablespoons of orange juice because I like that flavor. I snuck a spoonful to taste and it is delicious! I have always used canned and baking them improved the flavor dramatically. Thank you Pat ❤

Your stories of your sisters and your recipes remind me of my own family. My grandma taught me how to cook and every Sunday she cooked for 14 of us. She is still alive but now we do the cooking for her. Thank you for making these great videos.

I just made your sweet potato casserole recipe. I added 2 tablespoons of orange juice because I like that flavor. I snuck a spoonful to taste and it is delicious! I have always used canned and baking them improved the flavor dramatically. Thank you Pat ❤

Granny Pat. I love your channel. My grandmother was born in 1927 in a small coal mining town in southwest Pennsylvania. She was one of 13 kids. She and her sisters could really cook. Your stories of your sisters and your recipes remind me of my own family. My grandma taught me how to cook and every Sunday she cooked for 14 of us. She is still alive but now we do the cooking for her. Thank you for making these great videos.
I love baked yams. They caramelize! The canned ones taste like can. Always brown sugar, even in Pecan 🥧 pie.
I thought about slicing the sweet potatoes and covering them with brown sugar and maple syrup, etc. I want give that a try.

Granny Pat, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving this year! I will be traveling from WA to UT tomorrow and will have Thanksgiving with some very special family members. Although it will be sad because my niece’s husband suddenly passed away at the end of July, so it’s the first without him, but, we will make it be as good as it can be. It has been more than 21 years since I’ve been with these people for Thanksgiving…..all of us are excited to be together.
