The closest living relatives of the Darwin's Ground Sloth (Mylodon darwini) are the Two-Toed Sloths (genus Choloepus) while the closest living relatives of both the Jefferson's Ground Sloth (Megalonyx jeffersonii) and the Cuvier's Colossal Ground Sloth (Megatherium americanum) are the Three-Toed Sloths (genus Bradypus).
This is so awesome!! I can't wait to see them in the open. Years ago in the old reptile house, where The Scutes building is at, there was an area just like this with a sloth in it. So the Loft is open now? Good!!
It's hard to know if Bean misses his parents, but he appears to be thriving in this new environment. Chalupa was encouraging Bean's independence and that's why they were separated, as would have been independent in the wild. There are no plans for another sloth at this time. Thanks for loving sloths!

They are amazing animals
I love the sloths they have such cute faces. My area is in the purple zone ever since last March. Seems like we will never get out of it.

Aww sloths are one of my favorite animals. Does Bean miss being with his parents? Are there any plans to get him a sloth buddy?
