Epp! I’m trying a new to me project. Most of my cotton scraps are saved for quilts. My favorite are scrappy quilts.

Hi, Tiffany. Oh, yes, the scraps! The just under a yard pieces are good for Dress A Girl dresses in small sizes or for pockets. Addy is going to be a designer. She is getting a start with Bernadette. 😅

My scraps are kept for dress a girl use. Our uk ambassador also accepts boys shorts so I make those too. I’ve done some crumb quilting too, no idea yet what I’m going to do with the few blocks I’ve made though. If I’ve lost my sewjo, crumb quilting gets me going again!

Hi Tiffany, I think that most crafters have the scrap issue because if you are like me, I always think I can use it. I love fabric and just can't bear to waste it. So years ago I purchased an Ikea kitchen island to use in my sewing room. I was looking for the right height table for cutting, and it has 12 drawers. Six of the drawers hold scraps. I always try to use the scraps first if I can for smaller projects or scrap quilts. When there is no more room I have to find a find a project to make room. It is not a perfect system because sometimes you want to work on something else, and for you, if like to see them, but most of the time works out okay for me.

Good evening Tiffany and I pray that you have a wonderful birthday. I wish I was a young as you as I have so many things that I would like to do yet in my life. Addy June dress is so cute and I bet she looks wonderful in it as I know everything you make for her is special, beautiful and she will remember it for many many years. When my twins were Addy's age and as they got older, I would sew for them also. She will grow up so fast and these precious moments when she is little are special. Watching your video as she was sledding down your hills was wonderful. your hubby purchased a good idea for your scrapes, but like many of us sewer, we have more than we can handle, and never want to toss them out. I look forward to each one of your videos and they give me such inspiration. Take care and God Bless you and your family.😀❤.

The "scrappy dress" is adorable! My mother used to make coordinating dresses for our dolls from the scraps from our dresses, and also small doll quilts one time. I keep scraps in a Rubbermaid container in the basement and always plan to use them and sometimes do - flannel scraps make good batting for potholders, for example, even printed flannels, if the outer fabric is opaque enough. Some black knit scraps have wound up as lining for a hoodie (like the one I'm making with Joann's Luxe fleece right now - just installed a separating zipper for the first time), edging on things, and underwear, of course. Some scraps have been turned into bias strips for edging placemats and potholders. If you are going to get rid of them, a large clear plastic bag full of scraps is usually a hit at thrift stores for teachers, 4H craft projects, doll clothes makers, etc., and sometimes even retirement homes or schools will take them - our daughter made a flowerpot with scraps cut out and glued on in a design for Mother's Day at school one year. And kids love to play with them, as you know! Great pix!

Loved Addies dress, that sleeve looks like it would be fiddly. It turned out great though! I need to work on getting my fabric where I can see it, including my scraps. I keep my scraps in a clear tub. Most of my fabrics are in tubs that are labeled, due to not having space since we downsized when moving to our new home. I do keep a basket with about 4 future projects stacked in it that I can see at a glance. I’m looking forward to this long weekend for lots of time in my sewing room. I’m afraid recent mending and altering has left me with a lowered sewjo. So I just want to create some fun easy things this weekend. 😉 Happy sewing Tiffany.

Scraps? Excepting pieces of ribbing and quality offcuts of 1 1/2 yds, I don't keep them. I suppose I used to 40 years ago, but it was bogging me down. I just stopped keeping them once I've worn the garment once or twice. 💪 And I've never missed them haha. I don't feel buried, it's much easier to stay organized and it's easy to tidy after each project and find things that I'm looking for 😁
I didn't know it was going to be a holiday weekend until you said that.... Made me look! 😆 We're expecting to get maybe 6" snow starting tonight, and the clouds are already rolling in. Have a great weekend and happy sewing!!

Hello dear Tiffany. Loved seeing Addy June sliding down the farm lane. So cute. My girls loved playing out also but seems now ( too old) and being older we are all wishing for warmer temps and dry roads etc,,, The cold and snow, can go away!!! esp when us Hoosiers have to get out. And get someplace. My Fla daughter only has her one hr drive each way to work so no snow there to worry about. But when it rains at times it’s bad as driving in our winter weather. No 2 twin is on her way home from visiting her twin sister this evening forthe past week, becoming an annual thing for them. . We will go out to the airport to pick her up at 6 pm. Our airport isnt huge and easy to get to and very convenient, so much better for us than trying to drive to Indy. Anyway, Addy’s dress was darling. As someone wrote even leggings under it would be cute. I always had my daughters covered well too. Tights or pants. Today’s young girls fashions,,, oh my! I call my mess of both fabrics and scraps sitting out for all to see,,, mount Nancy. lol. What a mess I need to tackle. I get it straight then it’s a mess again. I got a table to cut out on but since my grandson spent the week here while mom was in Fla I had to push the table up nearer the window so my cutting area hasn’t been used this week. Alex, my grandson goes home this evening. 😂😅🥹 I got up with grandpa aka pops and we got him off to school. He has to wear a uniform so choosing his daily outfit has been easy. He has to wear a tie and has a way of not entirely undoing it. He’s got that mastered. Better than me. I pressed his shirts as they are what we call suit or dress shirts. But then his warm sweater or quarter zip w the school logo goes over it. But I still pressed his shirts. That’s grandma. Or as I call my self. Gigi. He had a good wk and we did to. His stepdad then took him to school each am since his school doesn’t offer bus service. Next year he could be driving himself. He’s growing up too fast it seems and I’m getting older. lol. So far this wk only a bit of hand stitching has happened. But I’ll get the room in order yet. ( hoping so!). Monday am we are in be in the negative am temps. And I have a back procedure sometime that am. I’ll get a time after bit. It’s an outpatient procedure . Hoping for some relief for my constant back pain and aches. Ive already had repairs on the lowest spine area. For now, no surgery which is great. The pain dr will do this two times and if I get relief then he’ll do this pain relief r procedure a final time but e stronger and it should last for maybe a year. So sorry,,,,,, im very late I know ,,,, but Happy Birthday. Sounds like it was great. Take care and happy sewing. Nancy. ( I wanted to have a week getting my grandson off to school and staying with us but his stepdad is a wonderful guy and always helps my daughter with getting Alex off to school and even cooks but it was just my idea to do it this week and as much as I loved it,,,, think I’m tired. lol. Getting old!!! lol!!!! ).

Thank you for telling us the pattern sales at Joann. I don’t get notice of them anymore. I bought a blouse at JCPenney and am working on shortening it. (Not my favorite thing to do.) Enjoy your long weekend.

Love Addy's dress--maybe some leggings would extend her wear since it's a little short. I don't keep scraps. I used to but was getting bogged down by them and rarely used them. So out they go now.

Hi, Tiffany. Scraps do pile up quickly! Online fabric stores that force you to order only in full yard increments contribute to the problem. I have some good sized chunks but they aren't big enough to make another garment. My goal is to work through my fabric library enough this year that I feel like I can start experimenting with some colorblocking with the knits.

Hi Tiffany!! I share a scrap buster on my channel in today's video. I'm working on a tutorial for this next week on how to make "pancakes" out of my bits and bobs that can be used to make new projects.
Can you add a ruffle to the bottom of the Benicia dress to lengthen it? It's such an adorable pattern.
Happy Birthday, Tiffany!! 🎉 Im so glad you had a blessed day! Josh knows how to treat you well! That basket organizer!! 😮😊❤
I love that Addie plays with your scraps. I used to do the same!!
Ive been thinking about making my own fabric baskets for my scraps.
My sewing trailer needs a complete reorganizing. I find a regular re-org keeps my creativity peace.
Our Joanns is absolutely out of order. The isles are full of boxes. This week, someone had swept a huge pile of dust and dirt and left it in the main aisle forcing shoppers to reroute down side aisles. I am amazed at how bad it has gotten. I pray they do not close!! 😢
Happy sewing Tiffany! It is always a joy to watch your channel! ❤

Hello, Leslie! Thank you so much for watching and for such a sweet comment! Aw, we’re on the same wavelength, haha, with these scrap projects! I can’t wait to watch your video! Hopefully I’ll enjoy it during my sewing time today after work.
That’s just shocking about your Joann’s! Some of them are managed so terrible! The one in Indy sounds very similar to yours, it makes it so unenjoyable to shop there. I couldn’t wait to get out of that particular store! My 2 local Joann’s do a much better job at management. It will be a huge loss if they close, I hope they can work something out.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my sweet friend! Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with me! Happy Sewing ❤️~Tiffany

Hi Tiffany! I haven’t purchased one yet but I thought of using a 3 compartment hamper for my scraps. Then you can separate them by size or fabric type. And it can easy roll away into a closet or corner somewhere.
Thanks so much for your videos!!

I sew a lot for the county schools. I keep a chart of waist sizes as well as skirt and dress lenghts to compare against the pattern measurements to know if the pattern needs lengthening. Saves a lot of time making up a dress only to find it too short.j

Hi Tiffany! Great video as usual. Cute dress for Addy. Maybe make leggings out of the purple fabric. With boots it would be adorable. I hate scraps. I throw or giveaway almost all my scraps. Sometimes I regret it but mostly I like living scrap free. As for winter especially in January I vote for keeping the snow. My kids and grandkids love playing in the snow. Otherwise there is not much to do outside when it’s just cold and gray. But I’m a Minnesotan and used to the snow.

Hello, Kathy! Thank you so much for watching! Haha, I’m with you, Kathy! I have to make myself fold up the useable scrap pieces and keep them! My first instinct is to throw it all away! There is a certain freedom to not having all these small pieces around the sewing room.
I’m glad you all love the snow! In Minnesota, you all are more used to having it more regularly, I’m sure. It’s been a little shock to our community for sure! It’s been a long time since snow has hung around this long where I live! Addy is still enjoying her sledding so there’s definitely plus sides to it!
Thanks for taking the time to chat with me, Kathy, I always so appreciate your comments! Happy Sewing ❤️~Tiffany
