- Hello everyone! Welcome to my first-ever playthrough of the Uncharted Series. We are starting with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and making our way all the way to The Lost Legacy.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a 2007 action-adventure platform video game developed by Naughty Dog, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation 3. It is the first game in the Uncharted series. Combining action-adventure and platforming elements with a third-person perspective, the game charts the journey of protagonist Nathan Drake, supposed descendant of the explorer Sir Francis Drake, as he seeks the lost treasure of El Dorado, with the help of journalist Elena Fisher and mentor Victor Sullivan.

This is the game series that truly brought me and my grandfather close together. I miss him dearly. These games mean everything to me.

i managed to get both my grandparents into gaming through naughty dog games. my grandad fell in love with uncharted and was luckily enough to play uncharted 4 before he passed whilst my grandma cannot stop playing tlou.

It's been a long time, and this playthrough may not do as well, but Uncharted were the only games I could get my Mom to just hang out with and watch. She was truly invested, and I'll never forget going through each of these with her

Your patreon made the right call! And so did you with the decision to start from the first game. One of the only game series that truly gets better with each game (okay maybe not Uncharted 3 but it’s debatable). You’ll definitely appreciate how far ND came in design and refinement of the games’ systems, and how many of them were incorporated into TLOU, and especially TLOU2. Enjoy the ride!
I’m extremely jealous you get to play this for the first time in 2024! This game had me hooked from the jump. The whole series set the standard for storytelling for my gaming experiences going forward. I miss the old Naughty Dog.
Awe man, so excited you decided to pick this series up. Definitely in my top 5 of all time. Each one just got better to me.
I remember the first time I played this game: back in 2009, towards the end of middle school and the beginning of summer, I was 14 and I was at a friend's house who owned a PS3, and as a big fan of action-adventure stories like Indiana Jones I remember being blown away by the graphics, the plot and the soundtrack of this game. It was just amazing.
Uncharted 4 will hit a lot harder and the way its intended to by playing the whole franchise. Uncharted 4 is a celebration and perfect ending to an amazing journey. You made the right decision, enjoy it!

@@Cynthetic i still have Shadow of the Tomb Raider to complete. Started 3 times, but life caught up to me. Yet, every time I restart I feel like a giddy little child watching an interactive Indiana Jones-movie
The PS5 version of 1-3 look ridiculously good, far better than they should. I was playing 3 a few weeks ago and kept marveling at how well it holds up and how great the graphics look.
When she chose Crushing difficulty I was shaking my head. I guess there are some people that choose the hardest difficulty the first time they play a game, but that's not me.
Chapter 4 will be the real test. If you can make it through that chapter (especially the Blue Room) on Crushing you can probably get through the rest of the game. Can't wait to see if she succeeds or if she decides to reduce the difficulty level.
I'll save you the trouble. I don't know when it happens, but I took it off crushing. The lack of balance was exhausting, even by older PS title standards.
Haha I remember playing it on Easy then doing the trick of being able to just play the last bit of the game on crushing for the trophy. However I did decide to play Crushing legit on the ps4 remaster.
@@Cynthetic Personally I will always play a game on Normal mode the first time I play it, just to learn the controls, layout, etc. I just can't picture myself playing on the hardest difficulty the first time. But good for you for doing that.
Oh you chose a masterpiece series here! I can tell you now, if you don’t know anything about the other games, this series will become one of your fav series of all time. Each game gets better and better, this one admittedly has a lot of repetitive gun fights but they fix this in later games. The adventure, the humour, the relationships between these wonderful characters will truly fill a spot in your heart forever like it has mine. Thank you for gracing this series ❤️
Yeah, I was warned that gameplay might get repetitive after a while. Luckily I've had other games to focus on as well so it wasn't too bad. I actually ended up really enjoying the combat
So excited for this! Uncharted is my favorite franchise! Drakes fortune is a good story, but the controls suck. If you hate the controls for this game, just know there is a dramatic improvement by part 2.
It was a massive improvement. I don't blame U1 for being a bit janky though. It is a older game

This is why you should start from the beginning of any series of a franchise so by the time you get to the end you wouldn't have any questions. For example it doesn't make any since whatsoever to play God Of War Ragnarok before you play God Of War for the first time I don't care what anybody say. In conclusion I'm happy to see you are about to embark on this wonderful journey even though you have already started with Uncharted 4. However I will not watch that particular video until I finish watching you play Uncharted 1 through 3. With that being said I'm ready to watch you enjoy this entire series and I hope you will love it as much as I did and always will.

I don’t have a PlayStation so I never played Uncharted… then when Uncharted 4 came out on PC I decided to play it. I loved it!!
Well worth going back to the first game. The characters in this series are so endearing.
i remember a few years ago i tried playing the Uncharted franchise, got confused on the first platforming puzzle and gave up, like a few months later i looked up a video and then breezed through the rest of the franchise, seriously so much fun, and to think i almost gave up because i didnt know the climbing controls

Just a heads up, this first game might be a little bit of a struggle to get through, just because it's the first game in the series and wasn't as refined as it's predecessors. Also, YES always start a series from the first game lol! You'll have so much more of a reward at the end of 4!

Indeed, it's rare that I enjoy let's plays of this series of games--simply because, for some reason, they seldom hold my attention. But conversely, this playthough I'm definitely finding engaging! (Enough that I finished the video when I intended to watch only part!) ^_^

OMG I do the exact same thing with the difficulty in games. It doesn't matter what game I play, I always choose the hardest difficulty because it's more fun and entertaining. Do I rage and have a mental breakdown? Yes, I do. But I think that's the cool part of it tho😂😁😎
By the way, Uncharted is my favorite game series of all time, and the fact you played it on Crushing difficulty just makes me happy❤️ Not many RUclips gamers play games on the hardest difficulty because they don't wanna handle it😂
I played uncharted 2 before 1 and it blew me away one of the best games out there.

@@Cynthetic like I say, I don't roll and use combos a lot more than shooting. So in one sitting , my total play time was 15hours including reloads and shouting at things for killing me in two hits - and falling off buildings 😹

This is my all-time favorite video game. It's my favorite Uncharted game too even with its flaws in today's age. This game is why I got a PS3 back in 2008 and I hope you enjoyed the series!
I view Uncharted 1 as the "intro" or "beta" for the franchise. Like it's an introduction to Nate and the gang, and a preview for the rest of the series and why it was so groundbreaking in terms of blending video games with movies. Uncharted 1 has a lot of flaws, but it also showed tremendous potential. The second game is where the franchise REALLY takes off, and where the devs took what they started with, listened to the feedback they got, and then improved literally everything in every way, and added stuff never seen before in any video game. Still, U1 is a lot of cheesy, uncomplicated fun as long as you take it not too seriously and if you don't get bothered by the amount of gunfights :D
U1 is very campy! And I love campy.
LET’S GOOOO. The greatest cinematic video games of all time. These games are what started the modern trend of making games feel more like movies. Uncharted 1 is the most dated by far, but once you get to Uncharted 2 just buckle in. You will be glad you waited to play Uncharted 4, it is truly an emotional masterpiece of a finale after playing the first three. So excited to watch this series!
I'm so glad I went back too! Though, I am happy I played the prologue of U4. It makes Nathan's later joke about a Panamanian prison hilarious

francis drake was an explorer that worked for queen elizabeth of england...he was SUPPPOSED to be one of many in charge of keeping secrets and bringing back great things to the british empire. however the Uncharted version implies he disobeyed those orders.
Crash Bandicoot was my way into Naughty Dog as a developer back when I was but a lad in the late 90’s, but the Uncharted games are the ones that hold a special place in my heart. I didn’t have a PS3 when they came out (they were too expensive for a university student’s budget, so it as a one of excursion to Xbox for me), but when I got my PS4 I finally played them all and loved them. As it coincided with a very happy time in my life, the uncharted games have come to mean a lot to me. As you’ve enjoyed the Tomb Raider games I’m sure you’ll love these too. They share similar DNA, but are also unique.
That's so cool! I never played Crash on console, but I have vague memories of playing Crash on an arcade machine as a kid? I should really pick up the remastered collection sometime. Totally feel you on the college bit as well. So many modern classics came out while I was in university and I just didn't have time for it. I am really happy to hear how much you enjoyed Uncharted though! I've quickly come to love Nathan as much as I do Lara.

The moment you went for the hardest difficulty I had to subscribe 😅, I usually just go with normal difficulty so this should be interesting
The second I saw you were to play the greatest franchise ever period I subscribed. So don’t let me down! Guess what ? You won’t! My advice to you is to not stray to far away from companions to get dialogue. Significantly in the 2nd game make sure you go around in certain areas cos you can interact with things that bring you really nice moments. I’m grabbing a coffee this is what a couch and snacks was made for
Additional people that suggest to play uncharted 4 AS A STAND ALONE will never make any Christmas card list in fact I would disown them as they are not fans of the game and don’t care for backstory and character development. Next time you come to me for advice🙃
Never heard anyone say uncharted 4 "kinda" holds up. Its one of the best action adventure games of all time.

lol I always appreciate Cynthetic's anti-platforming stance. I generally found Uncharted's platforming to be OK, although as Cynthetic says, it does show some age. The other thing that kinda shows its age is not being able to run over ammo to pick it up. You have to press a button, which feels kinda cumbersome these days. I never played the original Uncharted, so don't know how it compares to the remaster version from the Nathan Drake Collection, but by and large it's hard to complain at how the game plays. A bit of age ain't the worst thing in the world.
To me "Drake's personality is mix between "Mark Wahlberg and Ryan Reynolds with a fun twist. Just a really fun badass guy. 🙂

@@Cynthetic Older games are truly harder. Nothing wrong with dialing back to keep it fun. I still respect your grounded finishes on TLOU 1+ 2. I played 2 grounded right out of the gate. First time I encountered dogs I think I died over a hundred times lol ; )
Thank you! Newer games are absolute more adaptable then older games. Playing Ghost of Tsushima on Lethal right now and it's honestly really fun. Older games though? Play a bit like a Fromsoft game honestly. Some of them only get easier with repetition and I don't have the patience to redo the same gunfight 5-10 times with Nate

I am glad that you decided to play all the games in the serious because while yes, you could just play Uncharted 4 and that be it. It’s a lot more rewarding and heartfelt to see the evolution of Nathan as a character. On top of the fact that he’s just a charismatic person overall lol.
I am kinda happy I started U4 though because there's a joke about a Panamanian prison in U1 that's so funny when you know the beginning of U4 😂 but yes, I'm really happy I went back as well!

Naughty did did Crash bandicoot 1-3 as well. One thing uncharted has that Tombraider doesn't is a sense of humour, especially in uncharted 2 and 3.

I love these games. You mostly gotta have patience and not shoot from to for away. Basically becoming a pro at taking cover and shooting from behind objects and walls. I feel like a good "Call of Duty campaigns player would pick this quickly for someone who hasn't played these out there.

My favorite franchise. I never in my life played a "Tomb Raider game until 2013 😂 . I'am watching all of these. I played "Uncharted 2 first before I played any of the others. Watching all advertisements from "Subway and marketing. These was the best games to me at the time. And play all these like a pro. Keeping my distance using automatics and I use pistols ever unless I had too. I mostly don't even get hit.

My favourite series ever. I really hope ND get back to making Uncharted games instead of remaking TLOU over and over. Snoozeville.
Since you already know about Sam, Nate's older brother, he wasn't thought of as a character until the fourth game. There's a canon reason for why he wasn't mentioned, but I can't reveal it just yet. Also, did you happen to recognize Elena's voice? She's voiced by the same actress who voiced Lady Sif in Ragnarok, Emily Rose.
I hope you complete playing the Tomb Raider franchise .. it's my favorite game of all time ... I love it and love see you play them all ❤❤❤

I didn't watch the Uncharted film because I was salty that they didn't pick Nathan Fillion to star as Drake. I have heard that the movie was not well received so have not been feeling like I missed something I would like.
By the time they made that movie Fillion was too old to play Drake, at least the younger version they wanted to depict in this movie.

UNCHARTED! My fave game series. All started with me buying a PS3 late 2008 cos LittleBigPlanet looked awesome fun (and it was) and my PS3 came with three games. GTAIV (which I didn't care for other than some online shenanigans), Assassins Creed (was ok but didn't click) and this game I never heard of called Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Which ended up being a hugely enjoyable adventure and had me anticipating Uncharted 2 and then 3 and then 4 and Lost Legacy. Each one an amazing journey with great action fun stories and genuinely likable and well acted characters to grow super attached too. Also Uncharted 4 / Lost Legacy originally came out in 2016/17 and yet are still among the absolute most beautiful games on the market. And I mean the PS4 originals, not just the PS5 remasters. :O While the first Uncharted is a lil less ambitious and a lil more janky than the later games it is still a hugely enjoyable time. Hope you have fun with these! I sure as heck did and so did many other people. :D

you made the right decision by deciding to start the franchise from the beginning, you are going to love these games and their characters, the first game is the one that has aged the worst for obvious reasons but you will like it

This game is one of the best feel good games ever. And Im not à very big fan of spectacular productions. But this..yes .. (And I think that you might fall for Elena besides suiy and nate )
