Welcome to the Rabbit Hole known as "Nightwish".. Lol.. "Storytime" is Fantastic.. Would highly recommend "Ever Dream" Live @ Wacken 2013 also.. As you probably know by now, Floor Jansen is the 3rd singer to front the band and has so since 2012 when she joined the group mid tour in the United States (Her First Show being in Seattle) after Anette was released from the Band after her Final Show in Salt Lake City... Floor Jansen is by many considered to be one the Best Vocalists in the World.. And that feeling (goosebumps and all) you get when listening... That is called a "Floorgasm"... It is almost impossible to describe Nightwish, because in everyday language there are not the right words. You have to feel Nightwish and experience it live to understand their genius. I would like to suggest Romanticide from the Wacken 2013 concert as the next Nightwish song.
'Nightwish is Nightwish. They helped to start the Symphonic Metal genre but they really are just their very own genre, they don't fit into any one single box.' That's how you explain them. :)
Wacken 2013 is a special concert. Floor had only been with the band about 10 months but was fully settled into her position. But also none of the songs were written for her. Storytime was written for Anette (singer #2) and has more of a pop/rock sound, where as Ghost Love Score was written for Tarja (singer#1) and more reflects her more classical style. The thing that really sets Floor apart is her ability to pick and choose what style she wants and do it all to a super high level. She also likes to sing parts that the other singers would just leave the backing track to handle for them.
Floor Jansen IS the Newest Vocalist.. Since 2012... The Vocalist you saw on Phantom of the Opera was Tarja.. She was the Original Vocalist until 2005.. That performance you saw with her doing Phantom was get Final Show with Nightwish.. She was Fired right after that show..
There is also a Recent Version of "Phantom of the Opera" featuring Floor Jansen and Henk Poerte performing it with Nightwish released this year.. (There is also the first time performance of Floor and Henk performing it on a TV show called "Beste Zangers" from several years ago..).. Lots of options.. Lol
Nightwish have had three main vocalists: 1) Tarja - more classical style voice, you reacted to her do Phantom of the Opera. 2) Anette - more pop style voice, there isn’t much live with her although do check out Slow, Love, Slow live at the Montreux Jazz Festival. 3) Floor - worlds greatest living vocalist, seen here, in your GLS reaction and in many many more to come 😎 But also 4) Marko - the bassist for most of their history, did the part of Phantom in your PotO reaction alongside Tarja. Awesome voice, takes lead on a few songs. 5) Troy - you haven’t come across him yet. He’s mainly a multi-instrumentalist (you’ll love his pipe work 🙄) but also does some backing vocals and takes lead on the song Harvest.
When Floor joined Nightwish - the guys had to adjust to Floor's 'metal head stage presence' - she is the real deal! - besides being the greatest singer and storyteller in the galaxy. Down the road you will notice how the chemistry between all the Nightwish members changed into perfect, when Floor and Troy became permanent members (and that goes for the crew as well - Floor works out with the crew every morning, during touring).
Great reaction. This is the same singer, Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen) as your first reaction for Ghost Love Score. It is actually from the same show (Wacken 2013, pronounced Vahken). The second song you reacted to, Phantom of the Opera, was with the first singer Tarja (pronounced Tarya). I don't recall many people saying they don't like Floor, the current singer who is seen here. You will see people say that they prefer Tarja over Floor, but rarely that they don't like Floor. Anette Olzon, their 2nd singer, is the one who doesn't get as much love. All 3 singers are different and have their strengths. All 3 have made amazing contributions to the band. Floor is the most versatile and the one that tends to get the most praise.
This song was originally recorded by Anette off the Imaginaerum album, which was released just prior to Floor joining the band. The studio version of this song is great, but Floor really takes it to the next level. The operatic part on the studio version was done by a choir (Anette doesn't have that type of range), but Floor wanted to do the vocals herself on the live performances.
@@Erfedwe Well, that's just the thing with Floor: As soon as the band gets a live performance of an old song out, I can't listen to the studio version because it just doesn't feel right anymore. Anette was... let's say serviceable for what Tuomas was trying to achieve back then (and I loved her simply for not being Tarja whose very traditional operatic style I hated), but I think there's a reason nobody's talking about her anymore. Say what you want about Tarja, at least she was proficient and unique, Floor is one of a kind and a gift for *any* band, and Anette, well... there are tens and tens of thousands of singers who could've done just as well as she did. Not bad, but a dime a dozen.
I don't mean to argue semantics or be obnoxious toward anyone but Anette is an excellent rock/pop singer. Tuomas would not have chosen her if he didn't think she was able to sing what he wrote. What she doesn't have is the classical training to sing like Floor (trained in classical and metal/rock/pop) or Tarja (classical/lyrical). Of the three Floor is the most versatile and has the largest note range. What you may not know is that lyrical singers are trained to sing with a prettier sound but also be heard over an orchestra so whether or not you prefer that, it takes a lot of discipline and practice to get as good as she is.
There are fans that only like Tarja still and don't like Floor. But they only pop up on reaction video's with Tarja. It's just silly imo, Floor is now the longest sitting leadsinger with the band.
It just AMAZES me that Floor, of all vocalists, would have any dedicated haters at all. Those idiots must have missed every single memo about her and never actually sat their dumb asses down to really give her a fair listen. There's NO WAY IN HELL that real people would hate this awesome vocalist. She can do all of those different types of things as a vocalist because SHE WORKED for each and every different genre that she can spit out, she put in the vast amounts of hours to get all of that practice in for all of it. She has dedicated her life to Music. Well, I guess not her ENTIRE life; she also loves horses and has a farm. She does the farm work herself including mucking out the horse stalls every day and driving fence posts when needed...those are REAL muscles in her arms and all over the rest of her body from ACTUAL work that she ACTUALLY does for herself. She's not afraid of hard work or getting her hands dirty. She's a lovely, big-hearted, warm-hearted cinnamon roll. I can only conclude that she only has haters because jealousy exists. There is no other actual logical explanation for anybody to hate this wonderful lady. Her haters all need to be institutionalized or at the very least, they need to watch all the interviews and documentaries about her.
One of my favorite songs from my all-time favorite singer and band. You will find that all Nightwish songs are different from each other. It’s quite the experience. Very few of their songs follow the verse, verse, chorus, etc. formula. 😄🤘
I loved your reaction. One of my favorite songs of Nightwish is Dead Boys Poem. It has a lot of different components. It has everything one would expect from Nightwish. It has beauty and depth. You will know what I mean when you hear it.
Great reaction!😁 FYI Floor is the most recent vocalist and is still with the band to this day making her the longest serving one. I am pretty confident in saying she is also most peoples favourite (including mine) and even those who favour Anette or Tarja mostly also consider Floor to be awesome as well. There are a few die hard Tarja fans that won't let her go and unfairly criticize Floor but they are very few and far between at this point.
Floor has an almost unlimited palette of emotions she can wrap her voice in. Also, she likes her vocals to build up within a song. In the last lines she is wont to go all out, mouth as wide open as she can.
I'm sure someone's already said but Floor is the current singer, she joined this tour in 2012 when the previous singer left and officially joined in 2013, a couple of months after this show - and she's still very much there 🤘
Not only a banger - this song, and this performance, seeing it about 2 years ago, is what made me fall in love with Floor and Nightwish, and what made me decide it was a life goal to see them live, which thankfully I was able to do last year. So many amazing songs they have, and I'm hard pressed to say what my favorite is, but it is most likely. One of the catchiest and most amazing chorus I have ever heard in any song, the lyrics, the classical part in the middle, and... Floor. Everyone happy and having the literal times of their lives definitely adds to it.

Nightwish is endlessly creative and unpredictable, and Floor is in my humble opinion, the best most versatile vocalist alive. And to Yay or Nay that, one must have listened to many tracks, and many different performances by her. Enjoy the journey!
5:58 You have to appreciate how literally larger than life Floor Jansen is. She towers over everyone in nearly every way, and not just because she's six-foot-plus. Her vocal repertoire and power, as by now I'm sure you know, is beyond that of most every other female vocalist.
Most fans appreciates all three ladies. Those radicals who only like one of them and write nasty comments about other singers are a very small group - don't let them influence your thoughts. It's an art, not a competition. Journey of the band, so just enjoy everything it has to offer.

Something that you should know about FLOOR JANSEN. She started singing in a symphonic metal band at just 16 years old. After Forever (1995-2009). Then she created a new Progressive Metal band, ReVamp (2009-2016). In 2018 she released a personal Hard Rock project (Northward). In 2012, she was invited by Nightwish to finish their world tour, after the band's second female singer (Annete Olzon) left. In 2013 she became Nightwish's full time lead Vocalist. She is a singing teacher. She sings in Dutch, German, English, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Italian and Latin. She sings Heavy Metal, Trash Metal, Pop, Rock, Symphonic Metal, Arya and Opera. She even sang rap. THE BEST SINGER TODAY IN THE WHOLE WORLD.
Wacken 2013 starring Nightwish and co-starring the 80,000 is..wow!! The energy this band always creates with their crowd connection is incredible!! Get on the Nightwish express. It takes you away. You're doing ok Chlooeeeexo. Your reviews are refreshing and honest. There will always be people ready to have a pop at reactors and I've done it myself! Just always be aware of what you have let yourself in for with Nightwish. They are the biggest 'unknown' band in the world, with millions of fans from Beijing to Bogota and many of them manic in their fervour. (Watch the 2018 Decades Tour performance in Buenos Aires, don't just stick to Wacken). They are the most reacted to band on RUclips, also with the single most reacted-to video by a country mile. They are greatly loved by many but parts of their history are toxic and that influences what a lot of people think about some of the members, past and present. Embrace it (but don't dig too deep and definitely don't take sides) and you will love the ride. You will discover something new with every song you listen to and ask yourself every single time, why did I never hear of them before? I have seen many top bands over many years but there are none that can better a Nightwish live show. Just a comment about the bridge. I read the current drummer (Kai Hato's) remarks about his reaction when he joined the band. He couldn't understand what it was about and it took him three hours to transpose the short drum part, it's a lot more complex than it sounds. Incidentally, don't overlook the second of their three singers to date, Anette Olzon. Arguably their best two albums were recorded when she was the vocalist but unfortunately she couldn't always replicate the studio track on stage. My favourite Nightwish song is from her era, EVA, a power ballad about senseless childhood bullying which was written especially for her at her request when she joined as she had her own experience of it. (There are only a couple of 'live videos, go to the studio version). Enjoy.
This is Floor, she is the current vocalist. I personally think she is magnificent. There are 2 before her. Tarja( opera) and Anette ( poppy). I think the more you listen to her, you will understand why she is so loved and admired.
Nightwish, Lovebites and Kamelot - best bands for me! This Nightwish 2013 Wacken concert is on of the best of all time! Nightwish at its best and Floor Jansen with an unbelievable voice performance for 2 hours! Every song of this concert is awesome! They did a DVD from this concert Showtime, Storytime"! I watch it every year 1-2 times and it gives me always goosebumps!

Just a bit of information on Floor Jansen, she is the current singer in Nightwish. This song was initially released by their former singer, Annete Olzon, and is here interpreted by Floor. Their original singer was Tarja Trunen.
The song is part of the Nightwish record and film Imaginaerum. It describes the main actor who creates new worlds with his compositions. But he doesn't care about his family. The song is originally sung by pop singer Anette. She couldn't sing the passage you repeated because of a lack of classical training. Only the choir can be heard in the original. Floor makes them her backing choir. The film will premiere during the tour, which includes this concert. Shortly before the premiere, Anette is fired and Floor sits in the front row instead of her. Hello again Chlooeeeexo. Nightwish Army Phoenix subscriber here for you. This was another great reaction to Nightwish's 3rd and current vocalist, our 6'1" (barefoot) Valkyrie goddess, Floor Jansen (Yan-sen). In my, not so humble, opinion, Floor is the best thing that ever happened to Nightwish. And that's saying a lot because I loved Tarja's operatic vocals. But Floor brings a far bigger range to their music and her command of the stage and the audience is second to none. She can sing the phonebook and make you love it (she actually did that on a Dutch television show... although she only sang one entry from their phonebook). Then again, you are probably too young to even know what a phonebook is. Nevertheless, I loved your reaction. Thanks and keep more Nightwish live reactions with Floor coming.

I've been a fan of nightwish throughout all 3 singers and personally i believe floor is the best one out if the 3 I'm sure there will be a comment saying floor is the newest singer and she has made them into a bigger band then they already was
Nightwish is a very deep rabbit hole, where every song is different with unexpected twists and turns. Virtuoso musicians, a genius songwriter (Tuomas, the keyboard player whom many call the "metal Mozart" who is a master of emotion, melody, and change-ups), and the best lead singer alive today (Floor can sing anything, from operatic highs to full metal growls) - and wait until you hear bassist Marco sing - one of the best metal voices of all time (especially when he sings harmony with Floor - it is pure gold). I don't think I can say this about any other band, but I've never heard a bad song from them (at least not live with Floor, their lead vocalist since 2013). That bit you highlighted, I looove Jukka's drumming there! And the Disney comment is really fitting because some people referred to Nightwish as "Disney metal". They intended it as an insult but Tuomas is a big fan of Disney in general and Hans Zimmer in particular...so he used the description himself in interviews! But really the only description that fits is "Nightwish music".

I've seen nightwish live 20-something years ago and current era. I'm definitely for Floor when it comes to lead singer. Tarja was a really good singer, some song I still prefer her takes on (over the hills, nemo). BUT! Holy crap Floor is such a better stage presence. Floor riles up the crowd in an amazing manner and is a phenomenal singer. All in all Floor was a big win for this band.
About these Disney thoughts, Tuomas is a huge fan. He has released a "solo" album called "Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge", where Don Rosa contributed the cover art.
This vocalist is the "newest/latest" vocalist. There were two before her (first - Tarja and second - Anette). There is no other vocalist. Floor (here) wasn't technically a band member here. When Anette was fired in 2012, Floor was asked to finish the tour through 2013. She did and the band offered her a position as vocalist in the band toward the end of 2013. She is still a member today.
This was a single from their Imaginaerum record in 2007. They have several songs like this one. "Ever Dream", "Wish I had an Angel", "Nemo", and "Amaranth" to name a few of their other singles.
Tarja (Phantom Of The Opera) was the singer until 2005. She specializes in operatic vocals. Some of her most prominent recommendations will be from the End Of An Era concert, after which she was fired. Annette was the singer from 2006 to 2012. She has a very pop rock sound. One of the very few recommendations you'll get for her is from the Imaginaerum album/movie soundtrack. Floor replaced Annette mid-tour in 2012, and remains the singer for Nightwish. Wacken 2013 was at the end of that tour. Almost every recommendation will be for the Floor era. Concert DVDs from the Floor era include Showtime, Storytime (Wacken 2013), Vehicle Of Spirits (Wembley Arena, London and Tampere, Finland 2015), Decades (Buenos Aires 2018), Pinkpop 2023, among others. Anytime I recommend Nightwish to someone and they choose a Tarja performance first, they always nope out and never listen to Nightwish again. Not even sending specific links seems to work - they skip the link and pick a studio version to listen to (which is inevitably a Tarja version). Tarja's a great singer, but she's not for everyone. But those loyal to Tarja are _extremely_ loyal, and are highly critical of anything Nightwish does post-Tarja. They're also highly critical of Floor fans. (Many times in the past, comments on a reaction would devolve into fights, with Tarja fans accusing Floor fans of disrespecting Tarja for saying Floor is a perfect fit for the band, or the best singer the band has had, or praising Thomas's writing, or for simply not mentioning Tarja's time with the band. Floor fans would rag on Tarja fans for always harping on about how great Tarja is on Floor specific videos. Fortunately, such fighting has died down the past couple years.) Likewise, people that are used to Tarja or Floor just can't get behind Annette. She's a good singer, but her sound just doesn't quite fit Nightwish. I think she sounds better with her current band, The Dark Element. One more tidbit is that Elize Ryd of Amaranth sang for Nightwish for one night in between Annette and Floor. Annette was too sick to perform, so Elize - a guest singer with supporting act Kamelot - filled in for the night rather than cancelling the show. The performance was dubbed The Denver Debacle, though it was anything but a debacle. Floor was hired to substitute for the pregnant and sick Annette the rest of the tour, but Annette objected to the choice of Floor because she felt fans would like her more. (She was right, but...) Nightwish back catalogue is huge and all the tracks are good. It would be great to see reactions to songs that are not already all over youtube. Anything from end of an era, the siren, or kuolema tekee taiteilijan. Floor also did some unplugged nightwish for planet rock radio with troy on guitar that is great .... its all great
And now picture Floor as a soloist, opening for Metallica... While pregnant with her second child... an having had treatment for breast cancer not even a year ago... And still showing the same unstoppable energy ;) They do have real heavy music too though. But even the heaviest music they have feels just perfect. So, if you want to go on an extreme emotional roller coaster, you might want to check out Poet and the Pendulum. Some people recommend to do full research, some say it's best to not know any details in advance. I think it's best appreciated if you know at least what it's about.

Just to help you out on how to remember the lead singers and the order they were: Tarja (pronounced Tar-ya), original singer, got a very operatic/classical style and was with the band until around 2003. Around 2003-2012/3 Annette, a poppy style and maybe the least liked of the 3 singers among the fanbase. 2012/3 to present Floor Jensen (pronounced Yan-sen) the most rock sounding of the 3 and the most versatile as she can sing any style (which helps as she has to sing from the entire catalogue where she has to do classical and pop style as well as the recent material). Before Marko (bass guitarist and vocalist) left he said Floor was the one he felt most comfortable with and didn't have to rein himself in or hold back with singing wise. Btw you are in for a treat when you hear Marko sing for the first time. ;)

Tarja was there first vocalist more Operetic/Classical Anette there second singer more Popish and Floor there third vocalist can sing any style or genre. Tarja was asked to leave Nightwish read the online open letters from both. Anette became unwell during touring i believe she was pregnant so had to be replaced by Floor to fill in during there U.S. tour by the time she performed at 2013 Wacken concert she became there new perminent vocalist also there multi instrumentalist and British member Troy became a perminent member. Keeping in mind that "Peter Pan" is from a VERY old book published in 1902. Peter Pan was also performed long before Disney on Broadway. Not everything is a Disney original (in fact few things are).
Videos can be released or re-released out of order so I can see how a new fan may get confused. The order of the lead singers is founding member Tarja Turunen 1996-2006, then Annette Olzon 2007- 2012, & next is Floor Jansen who started 2012 is still the lead vocalist.

My favourite songs: Tarja: Sleeping Sun, Wishmaster Anette: Bye bye Beautiful, Amaranth Floor: Yours is an empty hope, Noise Also Floor Jansen is on stage since she was 16, so you can check her out in her previous bands, After Forever and ReVamp. Also she is in a couple of Ayreon songs, Valley of the Queens and Eye of Ra maybe the best. Keep it up, and do not mint the trolls! :)

The original singer and you can check out the video was done by the 2nd vocalist Annette Olzen. The video is amazing and very popular. Floor has her own version of it and the two have their own way of singing it. It's a toss up for alot.🌹
It’s weird, some people don’t like Floor because she “replaced Tarja”. Except she didn’t. She was asked to continue a tour when their then present vocalist, Anette, got sick. There’s a whole video about that (please learn the set list in 48 hours). Floor and Tarja are friends since the early days, they have great respect for each other. Don’t let the small minded people judge you, they are all (Tarja, Anette, Floor) great vocalists. Do people have a favourite? Yes.
Just to clarify, Nightwish has had three lead vocalists: Tarja Turunen 1996 - 2005, Anette Olzon 2007 - 2012 and Floor Jansen (the one you saw here) 2012 to the present. Easy way to sort them out: Tarja sang opera style, Anette was pop/rock/jazz and Floor Jansen who sings every style from death metal to opera and everything in between.

Just watched your Phantom of the Opera reaction and I have to say im glad you seem to like both Floor and Tarja, they are both great and even Anette their 2nd singer is great just sadly not great live, her stuff is better in studio. Normally I would not have commented as I usually lurk Nightwish reactions and give likes/subs when I can but I had to just pop in after I saw your pinned comment and must say, PLEASE ignore the haters that you will find while in your reaction journey (not just with NW but any band really) and please keep being you. Thank you for all the great reactions to Nightwish, their music is awesome right?🙂I saw it said in the video Disney meets metal, and I just wanted to tell you if you didn´t know already that Tuomas Holopainen the keyboardist and the songwriter/ mastermind behind Nigthwish. He made music to Don Rosa´s cartoon Scrooge McDuck it´s different from the Nightwish songs, but I think it´s awesome too. Check out Tuomas Holopainen song The last sled or A lifetime of adventures.
As others have pointed out you're a little confused about the vocalist. Floor is the final and best vocalist. you said you heard a lot of people don't like her? Nope! . That could possibly be true about Annette, but she's very good as well
Unfortunately, the people who don't like Floor are usually the people who are stuck in the year 2002 and refuse to accept that Tarja was fired from the band, that the band has moved on and produced some amazing music without her and that Tarja herself has moved on to have a very successful solo career. That's the sad thing about it, Tarja has clearly accepted what happened (despite all the grief that was throw from both sides of the fence during the split) but some fans seem unable to do so and think they are acting on her behalf. For me, along with Anette, they each hold a special place in Nightwish history, they each contributed to the bands evolution to what we hear today, they can each stand shoulder to shoulder and say they sang in Nightwish and produced some damn good tunes! There is no best or better, just someone's favourite, and I get it if someone prefers Tarja over Floor, or Anette over Tarja, but that's just someone's opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
Hello Chelooeeeexo. You have to understand that Floor was in the band just a few months ago and these songs were written for the previous singers. That way you have a better perspective on how good she is.
I'm happy you're enjoying Nightwish! No doubt Gabriel has popped in by now to give you a brief rundown. Floor is incredible. I've been a fan of this band since 1998 when Oceanborn was newly released and fell in love. I also knew of After Forever years before she joined Nightwish and loved that, too. For me hearing that she'd fill in for Anette and finish the tour I was ecstatic, but also said aloud to a friend "She's joining that band permanently after this tour is done I guarantee it. She loves this music." I've seen them a few times live but only with Floor as the vocalist. I'm not sure I've seen a better live show. I honestly really miss Marco as the other vocalist, though. He's incredible in Poet And The Pendulum (please look up the song meaning beforehand because it's both heavy musically and in subject), and also "The Greatest Show On Earth" - a tale of the evolution of life in the universe, on Earth, and the time of mankind, with quotes by Richard Dawkins. Those are long and very epic songs. Before you get to those, consider "Ever Dream" - another more accessible poetic love song, but you also might like the much heavier "Yours Is An Empty Hope". When you get to that, please note that it is, in fact, Floor doing the low growls on the chorus. ;) Please also enjoy Marco's insane singing. For the record, the festival in this one (Wacken) is pronounced Vah-ken. Gotta love them Germans and their love for symphonic metal. Cheers, and don't worry about people getting on your case. Wacken 2013 is a special concert. Floor had only been with the band about 10 months but was fully settled into her position. But also none of the songs were written for her. Storytime was written for Anette (singer #2) and has more of a pop/rock sound, where as Ghost Love Score was written for Tarja (singer#1) and more reflects her more classical style. The thing that really sets Floor apart is her ability to pick and choose what style she wants and do it all to a super high level. She also likes to sing parts that the other singers would just leave the backing track to handle for them.
Floor Jansen IS the Newest Vocalist.. Since 2012... The Vocalist you saw on Phantom of the Opera was Tarja.. She was the Original Vocalist until 2005.. That performance you saw with her doing Phantom was get Final Show with Nightwish.. She was Fired right after that show..
I suspect the more recent upload date of Phantom is causing the mix up.

Nightwish have had three main vocalists:
1) Tarja - more classical style voice, you reacted to her do Phantom of the Opera.
2) Anette - more pop style voice, there isn’t much live with her although do check out Slow, Love, Slow live at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
3) Floor - worlds greatest living vocalist, seen here, in your GLS reaction and in many many more to come 😎

4) Marko - the bassist for most of their history, did the part of Phantom in your PotO reaction alongside Tarja. Awesome voice, takes lead on a few songs.
5) Troy - you haven’t come across him yet. He’s mainly a multi-instrumentalist (you’ll love his pipe work 🙄) but also does some backing vocals and takes lead on the song Harvest.
When Floor joined Nightwish - the guys had to adjust to Floor's 'metal head stage presence' - she is the real deal! - besides being the greatest singer and storyteller in the galaxy.
Down the road you will notice how the chemistry between all the Nightwish members changed into perfect, when Floor and Troy became permanent members (and that goes for the crew as well - Floor works out with the crew every morning, during touring).

Great reaction. This is the same singer, Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen) as your first reaction for Ghost Love Score. It is actually from the same show (Wacken 2013, pronounced Vahken). The second song you reacted to, Phantom of the Opera, was with the first singer Tarja (pronounced Tarya). I don't recall many people saying they don't like Floor, the current singer who is seen here. You will see people say that they prefer Tarja over Floor, but rarely that they don't like Floor. Anette Olzon, their 2nd singer, is the one who doesn't get as much love. All 3 singers are different and have their strengths. All 3 have made amazing contributions to the band. Floor is the most versatile and the one that tends to get the most praise.
This song was originally recorded by Anette off the Imaginaerum album, which was released just prior to Floor joining the band. The studio version of this song is great, but Floor really takes it to the next level. The operatic part on the studio version was done by a choir (Anette doesn't have that type of range), but Floor wanted to do the vocals herself on the live performances.

Anette was... let's say serviceable for what Tuomas was trying to achieve back then (and I loved her simply for not being Tarja whose very traditional operatic style I hated), but I think there's a reason nobody's talking about her anymore. Say what you want about Tarja, at least she was proficient and unique, Floor is one of a kind and a gift for *any* band, and Anette, well... there are tens and tens of thousands of singers who could've done just as well as she did. Not bad, but a dime a dozen.
I don't mean to argue semantics or be obnoxious toward anyone but Anette is an excellent rock/pop singer. Tuomas would not have chosen her if he didn't think she was able to sing what he wrote. What she doesn't have is the classical training to sing like Floor (trained in classical and metal/rock/pop) or Tarja (classical/lyrical). Of the three Floor is the most versatile and has the largest note range. What you may not know is that lyrical singers are trained to sing with a prettier sound but also be heard over an orchestra so whether or not you prefer that, it takes a lot of discipline and practice to get as good as she is.
There are fans that only like Tarja still and don't like Floor. But they only pop up on reaction video's with Tarja.
It's just silly imo, Floor is now the longest sitting leadsinger with the band.

It just AMAZES me that Floor, of all vocalists, would have any dedicated haters at all. Those idiots must have missed every single memo about her and never actually sat their dumb asses down to really give her a fair listen. There's NO WAY IN HELL that real people would hate this awesome vocalist.
She can do all of those different types of things as a vocalist because SHE WORKED for each and every different genre that she can spit out, she put in the vast amounts of hours to get all of that practice in for all of it. She has dedicated her life to Music.
Well, I guess not her ENTIRE life; she also loves horses and has a farm. She does the farm work herself including mucking out the horse stalls every day and driving fence posts when needed...those are REAL muscles in her arms and all over the rest of her body from ACTUAL work that she ACTUALLY does for herself. She's not afraid of hard work or getting her hands dirty.
She's a lovely, big-hearted, warm-hearted cinnamon roll.
I can only conclude that she only has haters because jealousy exists. There is no other actual logical explanation for anybody to hate this wonderful lady. Her haters all need to be institutionalized or at the very least, they need to watch all the interviews and documentaries about her.

One of my favorite songs from my all-time favorite singer and band. You will find that all Nightwish songs are different from each other. It’s quite the experience. Very few of their songs follow the verse, verse, chorus, etc. formula. 😄🤘

I loved your reaction. One of my favorite songs of Nightwish is Dead Boys Poem. It has a lot of different components. It has everything one would expect from Nightwish. It has beauty and depth. You will know what I mean when you hear it.

Great reaction!😁 FYI Floor is the most recent vocalist and is still with the band to this day making her the longest serving one. I am pretty confident in saying she is also most peoples favourite (including mine) and even those who favour Anette or Tarja mostly also consider Floor to be awesome as well. There are a few die hard Tarja fans that won't let her go and unfairly criticize Floor but they are very few and far between at this point.
Floor has an almost unlimited palette of emotions she can wrap her voice in. Also, she likes her vocals to build up within a song. In the last lines she is wont to go all out, mouth as wide open as she can.
I'm sure someone's already said but Floor is the current singer, she joined this tour in 2012 when the previous singer left and officially joined in 2013, a couple of months after this show - and she's still very much there 🤘

Not only a banger - this song, and this performance, seeing it about 2 years ago, is what made me fall in love with Floor and Nightwish, and what made me decide it was a life goal to see them live, which thankfully I was able to do last year. So many amazing songs they have, and I'm hard pressed to say what my favorite is, but it is most likely. One of the catchiest and most amazing chorus I have ever heard in any song, the lyrics, the classical part in the middle, and... Floor. Everyone happy and having the literal times of their lives definitely adds to it.

Something that you should know about FLOOR JANSEN. She started singing in a symphonic metal band at just 16 years old. After Forever (1995-2009). Then she created a new Progressive Metal band, ReVamp (2009-2016). In 2018 she released a personal Hard Rock project (Northward). In 2012, she was invited by Nightwish to finish their world tour, after the band's second female singer (Annete Olzon) left. In 2013 she became Nightwish's full time lead Vocalist. She is a singing teacher. She sings in Dutch, German, English, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Italian and Latin. She sings Heavy Metal, Trash Metal, Pop, Rock, Symphonic Metal, Arya and Opera. She even sang rap. THE BEST SINGER TODAY IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

You're doing ok Chlooeeeexo. Your reviews are refreshing and honest. There will always be people ready to have a pop at reactors and I've done it myself! Just always be aware of what you have let yourself in for with Nightwish. They are the biggest 'unknown' band in the world, with millions of fans from Beijing to Bogota and many of them manic in their fervour. (Watch the 2018 Decades Tour performance in Buenos Aires, don't just stick to Wacken). They are the most reacted to band on RUclips, also with the single most reacted-to video by a country mile. They are greatly loved by many but parts of their history are toxic and that influences what a lot of people think about some of the members, past and present. Embrace it (but don't dig too deep and definitely don't take sides) and you will love the ride. You will discover something new with every song you listen to and ask yourself every single time, why did I never hear of them before? I have seen many top bands over many years but there are none that can better a Nightwish live show. Just a comment about the bridge. I read the current drummer (Kai Hato's) remarks about his reaction when he joined the band. He couldn't understand what it was about and it took him three hours to transpose the short drum part, it's a lot more complex than it sounds. Incidentally, don't overlook the second of their three singers to date, Anette Olzon. Arguably their best two albums were recorded when she was the vocalist but unfortunately she couldn't always replicate the studio track on stage. My favourite Nightwish song is from her era, EVA, a power ballad about senseless childhood bullying which was written especially for her at her request when she joined as she had her own experience of it. (There are only a couple of 'live videos, go to the studio version). Enjoy.
This is Floor, she is the current vocalist. I personally think she is magnificent. There are 2 before her. Tarja( opera) and Anette ( poppy). I think the more you listen to her, you will understand why she is so loved and admired.

Nightwish, Lovebites and Kamelot - best bands for me! This Nightwish 2013 Wacken concert is on of the best of all time! Nightwish at its best and Floor Jansen with an unbelievable voice performance for 2 hours! Every song of this concert is awesome! They did a DVD from this concert Showtime, Storytime"! I watch it every year 1-2 times and it gives me always goosebumps!

Just a bit of information on Floor Jansen, she is the current singer in Nightwish. This song was initially released by their former singer, Annete Olzon, and is here interpreted by Floor. Their original singer was Tarja Trunen.
The song is part of the Nightwish record and film Imaginaerum. It describes the main actor who creates new worlds with his compositions. But he doesn't care about his family.
The song is originally sung by pop singer Anette. She couldn't sing the passage you repeated because of a lack of classical training. Only the choir can be heard in the original. Floor makes them her backing choir.
The film will premiere during the tour, which includes this concert. Shortly before the premiere, Anette is fired and Floor sits in the front row instead of her.

Hello again Chlooeeeexo. Nightwish Army Phoenix subscriber here for you. This was another great reaction to Nightwish's 3rd and current vocalist, our 6'1" (barefoot) Valkyrie goddess, Floor Jansen (Yan-sen). In my, not so humble, opinion, Floor is the best thing that ever happened to Nightwish. And that's saying a lot because I loved Tarja's operatic vocals. But Floor brings a far bigger range to their music and her command of the stage and the audience is second to none. She can sing the phonebook and make you love it (she actually did that on a Dutch television show... although she only sang one entry from their phonebook). Then again, you are probably too young to even know what a phonebook is. Nevertheless, I loved your reaction. Thanks and keep more Nightwish live reactions with Floor coming.

What about the vocalist in-between, the head banging floor does is the windmill she uses her core to stabilise herself and is able to relax her neck.
I've been a fan of nightwish throughout all 3 singers and personally i believe floor is the best one out if the 3 I'm sure there will be a comment saying floor is the newest singer and she has made them into a bigger band then they already was
Nightwish is a very deep rabbit hole, where every song is different with unexpected twists and turns. Virtuoso musicians, a genius songwriter (Tuomas, the keyboard player whom many call the "metal Mozart" who is a master of emotion, melody, and change-ups), and the best lead singer alive today (Floor can sing anything, from operatic highs to full metal growls) - and wait until you hear bassist Marco sing - one of the best metal voices of all time (especially when he sings harmony with Floor - it is pure gold). I don't think I can say this about any other band, but I've never heard a bad song from them (at least not live with Floor, their lead vocalist since 2013). That bit you highlighted, I looove Jukka's drumming there! And the Disney comment is really fitting because some people referred to Nightwish as "Disney metal". They intended it as an insult but Tuomas is a big fan of Disney in general and Hans Zimmer in particular...so he used the description himself in interviews! But really the only description that fits is "Nightwish music".

I've seen nightwish live 20-something years ago and current era.
I'm definitely for Floor when it comes to lead singer. Tarja was a really good singer, some song I still prefer her takes on (over the hills, nemo). BUT! Holy crap Floor is such a better stage presence. Floor riles up the crowd in an amazing manner and is a phenomenal singer. All in all Floor was a big win for this band.
Nightwish is a phenomenal band no matter who the singer is the musicianship is top notch

Nightwish actually made a movie/musical and this album was the soundtrack for it. I have not been able to get a copy unfortunately :(
About these Disney thoughts, Tuomas is a huge fan. He has released a "solo" album called "Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge", where Don Rosa contributed the cover art.
This vocalist is the "newest/latest" vocalist. There were two before her (first - Tarja and second - Anette). There is no other vocalist. Floor (here) wasn't technically a band member here. When Anette was fired in 2012, Floor was asked to finish the tour through 2013. She did and the band offered her a position as vocalist in the band toward the end of 2013. She is still a member today.
This was a single from their Imaginaerum record in 2007. They have several songs like this one. "Ever Dream", "Wish I had an Angel", "Nemo", and "Amaranth" to name a few of their other singles.
Tarja (Phantom Of The Opera) was the singer until 2005. She specializes in operatic vocals. Some of her most prominent recommendations will be from the End Of An Era concert, after which she was fired.
Annette was the singer from 2006 to 2012. She has a very pop rock sound. One of the very few recommendations you'll get for her is from the Imaginaerum album/movie soundtrack.
Floor replaced Annette mid-tour in 2012, and remains the singer for Nightwish. Wacken 2013 was at the end of that tour. Almost every recommendation will be for the Floor era. Concert DVDs from the Floor era include Showtime, Storytime (Wacken 2013), Vehicle Of Spirits (Wembley Arena, London and Tampere, Finland 2015), Decades (Buenos Aires 2018), Pinkpop 2023, among others.
Anytime I recommend Nightwish to someone and they choose a Tarja performance first, they always nope out and never listen to Nightwish again. Not even sending specific links seems to work - they skip the link and pick a studio version to listen to (which is inevitably a Tarja version).
Tarja's a great singer, but she's not for everyone. But those loyal to Tarja are _extremely_ loyal, and are highly critical of anything Nightwish does post-Tarja. They're also highly critical of Floor fans. (Many times in the past, comments on a reaction would devolve into fights, with Tarja fans accusing Floor fans of disrespecting Tarja for saying Floor is a perfect fit for the band, or the best singer the band has had, or praising Thomas's writing, or for simply not mentioning Tarja's time with the band. Floor fans would rag on Tarja fans for always harping on about how great Tarja is on Floor specific videos. Fortunately, such fighting has died down the past couple years.)
Likewise, people that are used to Tarja or Floor just can't get behind Annette. She's a good singer, but her sound just doesn't quite fit Nightwish. I think she sounds better with her current band, The Dark Element.
One more tidbit is that Elize Ryd of Amaranth sang for Nightwish for one night in between Annette and Floor. Annette was too sick to perform, so Elize - a guest singer with supporting act Kamelot - filled in for the night rather than cancelling the show. The performance was dubbed The Denver Debacle, though it was anything but a debacle. Floor was hired to substitute for the pregnant and sick Annette the rest of the tour, but Annette objected to the choice of Floor because she felt fans would like her more. (She was right, but...)

Nightwish back catalogue is huge and all the tracks are good. It would be great to see reactions to songs that are not already all over youtube. Anything from end of an era, the siren, or kuolema tekee taiteilijan. Floor also did some unplugged nightwish for planet rock radio with troy on guitar that is great .... its all great
And now picture Floor as a soloist, opening for Metallica... While pregnant with her second child... an having had treatment for breast cancer not even a year ago... And still showing the same unstoppable energy ;)
They do have real heavy music too though. But even the heaviest music they have feels just perfect.
So, if you want to go on an extreme emotional roller coaster, you might want to check out Poet and the Pendulum.
Some people recommend to do full research, some say it's best to not know any details in advance. I think it's best appreciated if you know at least what it's about.

Just to help you out on how to remember the lead singers and the order they were: Tarja (pronounced Tar-ya), original singer, got a very operatic/classical style and was with the band until around 2003. Around 2003-2012/3 Annette, a poppy style and maybe the least liked of the 3 singers among the fanbase. 2012/3 to present Floor Jensen (pronounced Yan-sen) the most rock sounding of the 3 and the most versatile as she can sing any style (which helps as she has to sing from the entire catalogue where she has to do classical and pop style as well as the recent material). Before Marko (bass guitarist and vocalist) left he said Floor was the one he felt most comfortable with and didn't have to rein himself in or hold back with singing wise. Btw you are in for a treat when you hear Marko sing for the first time. ;)

Tarja was there first vocalist more Operetic/Classical Anette there second singer more Popish and Floor there third vocalist can sing any style or genre. Tarja was asked to leave Nightwish read the online open letters from both. Anette became unwell during touring i believe she was pregnant so had to be replaced by Floor to fill in during there U.S. tour by the time she performed at 2013 Wacken concert she became there new perminent vocalist also there multi instrumentalist and British member Troy became a perminent member. This concert was Floor singing before her Tattoo's. Floor's previous bands After forever, Revamp and Northward her side project
I'm sure there are people out there who don't like Floor, but they're usually recaptured and returned to the asylum quite quickly... ;)

Keeping in mind that "Peter Pan" is from a VERY old book published in 1902. Peter Pan was also performed long before Disney on Broadway. Not everything is a Disney original (in fact few things are).
Videos can be released or re-released out of order so I can see how a new fan may get confused. The order of the lead singers is founding member Tarja Turunen 1996-2006, then Annette Olzon 2007- 2012, & next is Floor Jansen who started 2012 is still the lead vocalist.

I am an Iron Maiden and Rammstein fan since 85, and love music with good vibes. Yet, NW has converted me in faster than any other band. So, hang on tight to your socks. Tarja Turunen 1996 -2005 ....you reacted to her singing Phantom of the opera from The End of an Era show in 2005 , which happened to be her last show with the band .

The original singer and you can check out the video was done by the 2nd vocalist Annette Olzen. The video is amazing and very popular. Floor has her own version of it and the two have their own way of singing it. It's a toss up for alot.🌹
It’s weird, some people don’t like Floor because she “replaced Tarja”. Except she didn’t. She was asked to continue a tour when their then present vocalist, Anette, got sick. There’s a whole video about that (please learn the set list in 48 hours).
Floor and Tarja are friends since the early days, they have great respect for each other. Don’t let the small minded people judge you, they are all (Tarja, Anette, Floor) great vocalists. Do people have a favourite? Yes.
Just to clarify, Nightwish has had three lead vocalists: Tarja Turunen 1996 - 2005, Anette Olzon 2007 - 2012 and Floor Jansen (the one you saw here) 2012 to the present. Easy way to sort them out: Tarja sang opera style, Anette was pop/rock/jazz and Floor Jansen who sings every style from death metal to opera and everything in between.

Just watched your Phantom of the Opera reaction and I have to say im glad you seem to like both Floor and Tarja, they are both great and even Anette their 2nd singer is great just sadly not great live, her stuff is better in studio. Normally I would not have commented as I usually lurk Nightwish reactions and give likes/subs when I can but I had to just pop in after I saw your pinned comment and must say, PLEASE ignore the haters that you will find while in your reaction journey (not just with NW but any band really) and please keep being you. No matter what you do someone will find some way to try to insult you and bring you down while trying to make content cause they themselves have miserable lives and want to spread it to others. Thank you for all the great reactions to Nightwish, their music is awesome right?🙂I saw it said in the video Disney meets metal, and I just wanted to tell you if you didn´t know already that Tuomas Holopainen the keyboardist and the songwriter/ mastermind behind Nigthwish. He made music to Don Rosa´s cartoon Scrooge McDuck it´s different from the Nightwish songs, but I think it´s awesome too.

As others have pointed out you're a little confused about the vocalist. Floor is the final and best vocalist. you said you heard a lot of people don't like her? Nope! . That could possibly be true about Annette, but she's very good as well
Unfortunately, the people who don't like Floor are usually the people who are stuck in the year 2002 and refuse to accept that Tarja was fired from the band, that the band has moved on and produced some amazing music without her and that Tarja herself has moved on to have a very successful solo career. That's the sad thing about it, Tarja has clearly accepted what happened (despite all the grief that was throw from both sides of the fence during the split) but some fans seem unable to do so and think they are acting on her behalf. For me, along with Anette, they each hold a special place in Nightwish history, they each contributed to the bands evolution to what we hear today, they can each stand shoulder to shoulder and say they sang in Nightwish and produced some damn good tunes! There is no best or better, just someone's favourite, and I get it if someone prefers Tarja over Floor, or Anette over Tarja, but that's just someone's opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
Hello Chelooeeeexo. You have to understand that Floor was in the band just a few months ago and these songs were written for the previous singers. That way you have a better perspective on how good she is.

That is the newest vocalist, and she does the "windmill" all the time. I think you have some things confused.

Floor is incredible. I've been a fan of this band since 1998 when Oceanborn was newly released and fell in love. I also knew of After Forever years before she joined Nightwish and loved that, too. For me hearing that she'd fill in for Anette and finish the tour I was ecstatic, but also said aloud to a friend "She's joining that band permanently after this tour is done I guarantee it. She loves this music."
I've seen them a few times live but only with Floor as the vocalist. I'm not sure I've seen a better live show.
I honestly really miss Marco as the other vocalist, though. He's incredible in Poet And The Pendulum (please look up the song meaning beforehand because it's both heavy musically and in subject), and also "The Greatest Show On Earth" - a tale of the evolution of life in the universe, on Earth, and the time of mankind, with quotes by Richard Dawkins. Those are long and very epic songs.
Before you get to those, consider "Ever Dream" - another more accessible poetic love song, but you also might like the much heavier "Yours Is An Empty Hope". When you get to that, please note that it is, in fact, Floor doing the low growls on the chorus. ;) Please also enjoy Marco's insane singing.
For the record, the festival in this one (Wacken) is pronounced Vah-ken. Gotta love them Germans and their love for symphonic metal.
