My grandma would always use a veil because she would tell me it's the greatest way to show respect to God in Mass, she would say that wearing a veil was out of reverence for the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Eucharist. I miss my abuelita and all her catholic faiths and traditions ❤️

Yes dear you wear a veil. I became a Catholic in 1995 I loved my lord so soon my sponsor gave me one as present. Paul speaks of veil in scripture read. I when I take the Eucharist want my head covered for respect of Christ and showing myself personally more reverence. You can buy at Catholic gift store. Or go on line you will find. Different colors times of year I have blue and a black one but I am older woman over 65
I became Catholic in 2002 when I was 14. I was taught that it wasn't necessary and we weren't allowed to wear hats like some of the older women...I only saw one or two veils, mostly passed down in families. I'm American by the way.
I'm only 17 and the veil does draw me in. I have never worn one yet but the veil is beautiful. Perhaps it's the tradition that draws me in. I always found Muslim women who wear the head coverings pretty interesting as well.

I recently started to wear the veil. I was approaching the Eucharist, Christ with the right attitude, but I realized that as a convert coming from a certain Protestant background I walked into the church dressed way too casually dressed. Church is not just a building in Catholicism, it is a holy place, where we encounter God in a unique and personal way. As I worked to grow even closer to Christ it came to me that in approaching the altar I was actually approaching the throne of God, to meet there Christ and everything should honor that moment. I realized Jesus was standing there at the end of the aisle waiting for me. I was not just some hard working, tired, put-upon, worn-down woman that made it to church, but I was His beloved for whom he had died and this was our meeting place that was beautiful and pure, and this was where Christ took time to meet each of us that love him and feed us as individuals as he feed the 5000 and feed the disciples at the last supper, to give all of himself to us.
I am a non catholic (and no I am not mennonite or amish either) I also were a veil. I wear one all the time, usally a bandana but I do have nice lace ones for special occasions. I wear mine for the Corinthians passage, but I love that they pointed out that everything that was sacred was veiled. I had never thought about it before. It makes it even more special then it already was for me.
Wear a veil anyway, if you want to. Who cares if people think you're weird for wearing a veil? Not Jesus, and His opinion about your actions is the only one that you should care about, and He is also why you would be veiling in the first place. And if parishioners ask about it, that's a wonderful opportunity to evangelize. God Bless you.
This is a tradition that has always been in Our church. Most wear a head scarf here. My sisters Catholic Parish on the other hand, no one veils? So much for 1 Corinth. ch. 11. We are fairly new to this kind of tradition, (was Protestant for years) Our Priest encourages this practice but first wanted my wife to know what it really meant before she covers. There is a significance in why women cover here! If our Parish wasn't mostly converts, I'm sure just about every women would be covered.
I never understood why ladies stopped wearing veils in church it's not in Canon law anymore but it's still in the bible it's not church law it's God's law

Vintage Red Rose Yes! Paul’s command was a big factor in my decision to begin wearing a veil at mass (today, in fact, was my first time veiling at an NO mass. The Catholic Church is definitely Bible Church.
im ever so confused i always wore a veil and i always way. in the bible its says for a woman to uncover her head she dishoners her head. in my eyes wheb you go to the lords house to dress as he requests. so why are there so many women claiming to be catholic yet they dont follow the lords written words. i webt to a new church and nobody veiled accept me. i was in shock people were practically naked. so much flesh on show. men looked scruffy and im sure i saw a man wearing a cap!!!. i dont understand what is going on. how can people claim to he catholic when they question and ignor the words of the lord?
I agree with you 100% Even I as a man find it disgusting and complete disrespect for so many women attending mass dressed as if they going to the beach. I know that there are signs posted outside some churches that asks to dress appropriately because you are entering God's temple.
Vatican II Never said anything about the mantilla and According to the 1917 theological canon, veils were required. And the 1983 edition never mentions it. And according to the 1983 edition, a doctrine is still doctrine unless it is said it isn't, or a later doctrine contradicts the earlier. So technically, The Mantilla should still be required but its fallen onto relative obscurity because of both lack of knowledge and the media in the 60s saying they weren't required after a priest literally said that it wouldnt be discussed in Vatican II.
The beautiful thing about veiling is there are not really any rules. I purchased mine on a website www.veilsbylily.com I have both a black and white one and I coordinate it with my outfit. But you can wear any color you would like. I am starting to see people match their veils to the liturgical season, purple and pink for advent for example. Before I had a lace veil I would use a lightweight scarf. Some women just wear hats to church. Have fun with it. It is a beautiful thing. I wish I would have started years ago.
Even if no other women are wearing the veil please still wear with joy. If you go to a traditional Mass most women will also be wearing the veil which is a beautiful thing to do for our Blessed Lord.
90snostalgicgal I have two chapel veils, both of which I purchased on Etsy. I wouldn't call them mantillas because they are actually infinity scarves but they are made of lace and are highly convenient. You can wear them around your neck outside of church and then when you go in you just pull the scarf up over your head. I buy mine from a seller called RobinNestLane and I have been thoroughly happy with them. You are absolutely allowed to wear them and will no doubt turn a few heads!
Wonderful.Wouldn’t it be nice if groups like Opus Dei,The Knights of Columbus and the Legion Of Mary promoted the revival of this ancient practice among their members. It should be noted that the practice of women covering their heads in Church existed from the very beginning of Christianity as it originated in Judaism. As soon as the New Mass was introduced in 1969-1970 the practice virtually disappeared overnight after almost 2 millenia.
A Catholic woman also is a representation of the Bride of Christ. So yes veils are a call to holiness and reverence for the Lord, as the Church IS the Bride of Christ and YES women are a representation.
I actually do not see how either Protestants or Catholics could dispense with the veil or head coverings given the clear and strong teaching of St. Paul. I am a Protestant old enough to remember when my mother and all the other women put some form of head covering on when they went to church. The only thing I can figure is that feminist dogma entered the church.
Truly Christianity has more reasons to veil than Islam but many rebel against it. Spiritually the veil shows the covering of a woman's hair or glory which Jesus did when he was veiled in flesh to hide his glory. Moses veiled his face when among the children of Israel so they could not see the glory but removed it when he went up on the mountain to talk to God. In like manner we see the perfect example of a prophet like unto Moses when Jesus took Peter, James and John up on the mountain and the veil of his flesh was removed as he was transfigured and all three beheld the glory of God. The veil is also signifies the covering of the Spirit of God upon the saints and church as in Isaiah 30. The veil is removed for the test of jealousies and judgment begins in the house of God. many women do not realize that when they remove the veil they have no covering for their sin before their jealous God and Husband Jesus. Also, Rebecca veiled herself to meet Isaac and he being the child of promise is an example of Jesus. When Christian women expect to meet Jesus in a service to hear from him it is disrespectful for them to meet him unveiled. Not only in scriptures, but in deeper judgments women are to veil and we have more reasons than Islam. This is why I do respect the women who have veiled and have no desire to be as men. That pride which makes women want to be as men forsakes the important spiritual similitude of the saints being covered by the Spirit of God and women being created as a similitude of the bride of Christ, which are the words of Adam which the apostle Paul explained in Ephesians 5: 31, 32. Whether Niqab, Hijab, Chador, Burka, or chapel veil, they are all important in women being that example of the bride of Christ following Mary's example. If only more women would see this and return to veiling it would please God. May God bless
Christians also use head covering (some do, some don’t). Following what was written on Corinthians and following what the Holy Spirit of God wants us to do. God bless you everyone ^^ Let Christ be your Shepherd and all things shall come to place. Only Jesus saves 💚
1:56 "Canon law the old 1917 code of canon law had an express requirement that men were to have their heads uncovered in church and women and their heads covered however in 1983 there is a new edition of the code of canon law and that is expressly derogated so it's no longer a matter of church law so it's entirely an optional matter of devotion nonetheless." So basically the new 1983 code of canon law is telling St. Paul, thousands of years of Church tradition and more God to pound sand, we will do things the way we want. LOL! 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 is pretty clear ... not following it is stubbornness which is as iniquity and idolatry in God's eyes.(1 Samuel 15:23) And we wonder why prayers aren't answered.
Veiling has never been a tradition in my country. I don't think the general public could afford lace. They used caps and head scarfs. And later on hats in the citys. I think I'll go with a veil though. Would be easier and prettier in my eyes.
There was an old tradition in some places that married women wore black and single women wore white. Today most of us wear colors we like or that match the liturgical color of the day.
Back in the times of Christ and the apostles it would be considered immodest the way the women in the video are veiling. The way Christian women and yes even Mary would of veiled would of resembled more of how a Muslim woman would veil today. Anyway I do like the idea of veiling for Church. I’m not catholic but I grew up in a Pentecostal church and women always veiled and thought that all women did so in church but when I grew up and when to different denominations it wasn’t the norm. I find it interesting how standards of modesty in worship changes through the times though.
Cannon Law: Actually vat 2 did NOT abrogate previous cannon on veiling. In cannon law a new law would have to abrogate the past. This was not done. I realize some don't like that, but it is the truth. (in fact it does not abrogate Trad. Mass either. -the traditional Mass was not abrogated, but new rites introduced.) It would be important for people to read the cannons before stating falsehood: this man says that more recent cannons made the veil optional. This is simply not true: Tell me what cannon says that!. Look for it: its not there. Where the veil. Be obedient
In Genesis, God had to vail Adam and Eve because of their sin. When Jesus came, the vail was torn from the temple as he removed the sin from the world by His death. When a groom marries his bride, he unveils her. God has unveiled His people by the sacrifice of His only begotten Son. Therefore, everyone should be unveiled before God, if they are holy and sinless and in the right state to receive communion, otherwise please refrain from communion and go to confession quickly so that you may be unveiled before the Holy One. The only true garment that should be worn before God, is your baptismal garment.
Technically, the obligation of women to cover their heads when in the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament wasn't abrogated until the 1983 Code of Canon Law was promulgated and the obligation was not even mentioned. The only reason it was seen as a option after Vatican II was because the feminists and others saw it as a chance to stick it to the Church and "rebel" by doffing the head covering.
ST. PAUL: “Women should keep silent in the churches, for they are not allowed to speak, but should be subordinate, as even the law says. But if they want to learn anything, they should ask their husbands at home. For it is improper for a woman to speak in the church.” 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 “If a woman will not wear a veil, she ought to cut off her hair. A man, on the other hand, ought not to cover his head, because he is the image of God and the reflection of God’s glory.” 1 Cor 11:6-8 “A woman must learn in silence and be completely submissive. I do not permit a woman to act as teacher, or in any way to have authority over a man; she must be quiet.” 1st Tim 2:11-12
Im not catholic but i love head covering. I thing all churches should practise it and men should also dress better. It makes no logical sense,it frustrates the rational minded, but who cares. Not everything in life is rational.
So heretics change our religion after Vatican 2 and make actual Catholicism optional, but praying with false religions obligatory. Has anybody figured out that the Novus Ordo us a new religion?
It's a long battle back to the Holy Ghost, BUT we will get there. THE HOLY SPIRIT INSPIRES THE MOST HOLY SUBMISSION OF WOMAN TO THEIR GOD. FULLER TRUTHS, MUCH FULLER TRUTH ARE WAITING TO BE KNOWN BY THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD, THAT WILL, MORE THAN JUST ALLOW, THEM TO NOT ACCEPT, BUT DESIRE THE PROPER STRUCTURE OF THE FAMILY AS GOD WANTS IT TO BE UNDERSTOOD.
It's not a tradition, it's a New Testament command. Women who don't do it should not call themselves Christians, because they are wilfully rejecting God's explicit command for women to veil. In 1Cor. 11, Paul uses the Greek word katakalopta for the veil, a word that means a cloth covering. There can be no doubt in this matter.
To say woman shouldn't call themselves christoans if they dont veil is really strong. I agree that woman should wear veils, but kahoruty of woman are taught that it is no longer needed.
V-E-I-L, E-V-I-L, however you spell it is all insignificant in the eyes of God. Open the eye's of my heart Lord, that I may become a channel of Your peace. Singing praises of exaltation to He who hears the voices of the victims. Cover me Christ with a cloak of compassion that is fashioned from a Faith of forgiveness. This I ask of you through a Spirit of free will. Amen
Never thought in a million years RUclips would be telling Catholics how to dress... Thanks VC II........Quadragínta annis próximus fui generatióni huic, et dixi; Semper hi errant corde, ipsi vero non cognovérunt vias meas: quibus iurávi in ira mea; Si introíbunt in réquiem meam.
The veil itself was never a tradition everywhere. I never once saw a lacy mantilla in my parish when I was a kid. You are not bringing back a tradition but making a new one.
@Apostolic Nuncio to Kekistan we had head coverings but the veil they push was never standard. In my area a scarf was floral print virgin wool because the weather got down to -20f. We wore hats in summer mostly straw skimmer types. But hardly anyone ever owned a lacy mantilla like they are pushing now as necessary.
@Apostolic Nuncio to Kekistan if you were a woman you would feel the difference. I did wear a hat when I was allowed in church before Covid. I still felt the push to buy a $15 veil to fit their way. You are a man you just dont get it. There is no humility when someone has a veil in multiple colors to match their clothes not to mention the ones with rhinestones.
You can see videos of Jackie Kennedy wearing a veil to mass and that was 60 years ago.Women always wore a hat, veil or scarf when then they entered a church before 1970.
@@rscottlogan9471 she was rich had money for lacy mantilla. My neighbor hood wore a $1.99 wool scarf that kept your ears warm in the 20 degree weather waiting for the bus.
Whether it's a hijab, dupatta, or chapel veil, head-covering traditions are about the submission of women to men. Yes, it's a personal choice--a choice to participate in one of the most enduring symbols of oppression.
No disrespect to anyone, but I think this tradition should have gone away completely. Honestly, I find it annoying when I see a woman at Church with a veil. I'm not sure why I feel annoyed and am praying asking God what it is that bothers me. I'm definitely not liberal, I receive Holy Communion on the tongue; from whomever is distributing (a deacon or Eucharistic Minister), but I see people who jump the line because they will only receive from a Priest and not a Deacon or Eucharistic Minister and these are the same people wearing the veil. I find this rude and blasphemous. It the Eucharist any less the body of Christ because a lay person is distributing? The same goes for the veil, am I any less of a Catholic if I don't wear a veil? No, I am not. I think you need to ask yourselves, why are you wearing the veil? I think some are wearing it to appear more pious than the rest of the congregation. It's very off putting to me.
Mary C is a demon within you that is making you frustrated seeing a veiled woman. Remember that the devil wants to rule the world but we must not let him!
Mary C if you stay with our tradition all of this is sacred. As far as touching the eucharist no one but the priest is holy enough to hold it. Its the body of Christ. Before Vatican2 no one was allowed to touch it except the priest.
Eucharistic ministry itself is heresy, it is very demeaning to our Lord, only the priests aka continuation of apostles shall touch him and give the Body and Blood to Lay people or deacons. Those ladies were right. Right to receive only from the priests, and right to cover their head. It is biblical.
I do have to ask why you feel this way. It is biblical. And quite frankly, although this really isn't the point, the women veiling look beautiful. It is right and respectful of our Lord. I veil in church and when I pray and read the bible at home. When I have it on, I'm saying to Jesus you have my whole attention.
For goodness sake, cover your head by all means, but why a veil only for church? Why not a headscarf, beret or any normal head covering? So that one does not draw attention to oneself.
@Apostolic Nuncio to Kekistan LOL ....... the traditional rcc "persecuted my ancestors for centuries" & the v2 sect/novus ordo/church of nice will persecute me or people like me in the future
Tradition is coming back, slowly but surely!!

l see very few women less than ten wearing a veil at the chuch and I would always admire them and their faith toward God and blessed virgin Mary.
In the past 7 months we are now seeing at least 2-3 chapel veils or other headcoverings during every mass.
I got pink ones, purple ones and gold ones. It's fun being flamboyant, but it's even better being reverent.

started veiling recently and did my first mass with it on. Definitely feels weird but I think I'll get used to it

I restart when we returned to mass in person during covid. No regret. Also I did as a kid in the 1960s.

Jacqueline Molloy I am not sure either, I don’t understand how we can abrogate Gods word when it says women should cover their heads.
Jacqueline Molloy it’s the corrupt “sodom and Gomorrah” world we live in... sign of the times
I agree with you 100% Even I as a man find it disgusting and complete disrespect for so many women attending mass dressed as if they going to the beach. I know that there are signs posted outside some churches that asks to dress appropriately because you are entering God's temple.
Greetings from the Philippines ma'am.
Oh- this takes me back to my years at the Academy of the Sacred Heart.
Most beautiful tradition
Thank now I have a deeper understanding of veil
I love my veil.
The parishes I frequent, I’m the only one who veils, except for one time there was another lady
I would love to wear a mantilla once I become Catholic but what one do I get? And more so, am I allowed to wear one?
The beautiful thing about veiling is there are not really any rules. I purchased mine on a website www.veilsbylily.com I have both a black and white one and I coordinate it with my outfit. But you can wear any color you would like. I am starting to see people match their veils to the liturgical season, purple and pink for advent for example. Before I had a lace veil I would use a lightweight scarf. Some women just wear hats to church. Have fun with it. It is a beautiful thing. I wish I would have started years ago.
Go to a traditional Catholic store or web site. Welcome to the church dear sister. Prayers for you. Pax
You are absolutely allowed to wear them and will no doubt turn a few heads!
you can use a scarf you have as a veil
I love the chapel veils. glad you wear.
As soon as the New Mass was introduced in 1969-1970 the practice virtually disappeared overnight after almost 2 millenia.

i think i found my ideal girl 1:00.. oh God she so beautiful and speaks beautifuly like an angel.. wheew
Game over man, you lose. She’s mine.
A Catholic woman also is a representation of the Bride of Christ. So yes veils are a call to holiness and reverence for the Lord, as the Church IS the Bride of Christ and YES women are a representation.
very nice
I love the idea of the veils in the Church.
floyd rains Then wear one yourself.
DancesWithBears hahahaha :D
floyd rains I have 2 pink ones, 2 blue ones, 1 brown one (matches my hair) one purple 2 cream coloured and 2 gold ones. :D :D I love being flamboyant
MsCynthiaX I'm sad that Bear is so mad at this and mad at me for thinking its good idea.
God bless you everyone ^^
Let Christ be your Shepherd and all things shall come to place.
Only Jesus saves 💚
1:56 "Canon law the old 1917
code of canon law had an express requirement that men were to have their heads uncovered in church and women and their heads covered however in 1983 there is a new edition of the code of canon law and that is expressly derogated so it's no longer a matter of church law so it's entirely an optional matter of devotion nonetheless."
So basically the new 1983 code of canon law is telling St.
What does the color of the veil means?
Cari Nothing. It is a personal choice. You can wear a hat instead if you like.
There was an old tradition in some places that married women wore black and single women wore white. Today most of us wear colors we like or that match the liturgical color of the day.
in russian orthodox many women veil when going to church
I am drawn to it
Back in the times of Christ and the apostles it would be considered immodest the way the women in the video are veiling.
Be obedient
I don't even know that veil used to be a requirement
Faithful Latin Mass-goers from the Diocese of Gary are pictured.
For it is improper for a woman to speak in the church.” 1 Corinthians 14:34-35
“If a woman will not wear a veil, she ought to cut off her hair. A man, on the other hand, ought not to cover his head, because he is the image of God and the reflection of God’s glory.” 1 Cor 11:6-8
“A woman must learn in silence and be completely submissive. I do not permit a woman to act as teacher, or in any way to have authority over a man; she must be quiet.” 1st Tim 2:11-12
Wonderful
Now, if we can just get women to wear dresses instead of pants when they wear the veil....that would really be something.
Both men and women should dress nicely for church
@@thatdude8850 true...
I veil but im not Catholic.
Brianna Nichole Wojciechowicz every other Christian denomination came from the Catholic church. keep wearing ur veil.
Me too!
Hold Fast To Tradition
~ Saint Paul
Im not catholic but i love head covering.
I thing all churches should practise it and men should also dress better.
It makes no logical sense,it frustrates the rational minded, but who cares.
Not everything in life is rational.
I've started RCIA, and started attending Mass, I wear a hat, one of very few women who do so
You can cover you head with a scarf , hat , or a veil. Someone is trying to sell veils.
So heretics change our religion after Vatican 2 and make actual Catholicism optional, but praying with false religions obligatory. Has anybody figured out that the Novus Ordo us a new religion?
The first woman to speak in this video had a voice. A voice.

Older women have been wearing babushkas for decades.

Daryl A Agree... But it is also Tradition... But yes, Scripture command first!!
Amen

Thanks VC II........Quadragínta annis próximus fui generatióni huic, et dixi; Semper hi errant corde, ipsi vero non cognovérunt vias meas: quibus iurávi in ira mea; Si introíbunt in réquiem meam.
St Paul is telling Catholics how to dress.
My neighbor hood wore a $1.99 wool scarf that kept your ears warm in the 20 degree weather waiting for the bus.

the vail should not be transparent.
Lol
Gil Derrick Agree it’s more modest to be solid
Get a life.
You should not be a trans parent.
I doubt this is picking up much in younger generations (certainly not in western Europe)
meneope Actually It is the young who are reviving it!It is not a mass movement but it is growing.
i hate Vatican 2
Comet Halley agree
Whether it's a hijab, dupatta, or chapel veil, head-covering traditions are about the submission of women to men. Yes, it's a personal choice--a choice to participate in one of the most enduring symbols of oppression.
That is what Paul seems to say on this matter, but I think there are other reasons to wear a veil.
Mary,
You are modernist heretic.
Women should have there head cover for Mass.
Feminist catholic?
Nothing against who uses it, but I think its so ridiculous... nothing but a theater.
@Apostolic Nuncio to Kekistan LOL
Pious hypocrites
yes by all means wear a hijab --- Chrislam is coming
@Apostolic Nuncio to Kekistan No ? the rcc veil is very similar and the rcc now says it also worships Muhammad's god ----- so Yes.
