Wow this is a major shift in the Colorado narrow gauge steam operations now that both the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad and the Durango and Silverton are converting steam locomotives to burn oil I'm starting to begin to wonder if we're running out of coal in the mines that service the steam engines for a hundred fifty years
C&T sure does great a job when it comes to recreating scenes from the past in their photo charters.
Great video! Such a nice gathering of Colorado narrow gauge steam.
The whistle on 489 is a perfect example of a N&W 8-inch Hooter Whistle, which is from the N&W M Class (475 included)
I believe the whistle on No. 489 is a D&RGW Single Chime. Not an N&W 8-Inch.
Never knew a mud hen wore a 5 chime. Usually they were single chimes
Mudhens had all sorts of whistles. Hooters, 3 chimes, and step top 5 chimes.
@@MrRGS41 did not know that. Thanks for telling
What is the name of the song that you use in your intro? I really like it.
It's a royalty free song, it's just called harmonica from what I remember.
Sorry I missed the live stream

Mostly for fire prevention, but I have heard of coal shortages lately.
The coal mine says it is good for another 20 years. C&TS only has 1 oil burner, nothing has been said about converting them all.
@@MrRGS41 I didn't say they were converting them all, but I have heard about coal supply problems at least at the D&SNG.
@@baldwinloco12 I am doing Premier on my channel
@@MrRGS41 really???? I did not know that. I thought they were being (coal mine) shutdown
The whistle on 473 sounds broken for some reason..
You mean 455 (463)??
@@nicholasmedovich8691 Oh yeah, I mistyped!
Look out we are moving !
Why they did 489 dirty like that 😭
