Great video, thanks! I haven’t been to Koh Tao in 14 years, but I’m going to visit with my 14-year-old son in February. I’m very excited to see how much it has changed. Hope it still is not to crowded
That sounds like an incredible trip! I’d love to hear your thoughts after you visit the island. It must have been quite an adventure 14 years ago! Enjoy your time on Koh Tao!
Excellent content 👍 you and your videos deserve much more attention!! Very interesting information and also very different from all of the other Thailand videos

Thank you thank you lots! I know im going to benefit immensely from your sharing. Saved us a lot of time figuring out how to explore the island and optimise our time when we get there. Cheers!
Awesome!! I see that you've been to Koh Muk and Koh Lipe already. If you're still down south, try Koh Kradan as well. The water is amazing! Have a great trip, Megan! ❤
Thank you so much for all the informations who those shared with us just a question please u know website or app who I can book ticket boat from koh samui to koh tao because I'll be in koh samui aeroport from bangkok then I have to go to koh tao Sairee Beach
There are several ferries that run between Koh Samui and Koh Tao. Here are 2 speedboats you can book: www.lomprayah.com/page/company-profile songserm.com/
Hello! If you are in a hurry: to see the entire island you need two full days. 1 day to scooter around everywhere. Half a day for a snorkeling/diving trip. Half a day to walk around the main beach and enjoy the sunset. If you are not in a hurry and like snorkeling: stay 4 days or more to enjoy the most beautiful beaches at a leisurely pace. Have a fantastic trip! ❤
Don't worry, the sharks will not pay attention to you. If you book a snorkeling tour, the guides typically snorkel with you the entire time and will be there to spot the sharks and help you see them.
Please I need a advice , I’m going to travel from Bangkok in 10 January, I’ll be in koh samui aeroport at 7:10am then I will take farry at 8:10 to koh tao . In your opinion they respect the time there or I will take the risk to lost the ferry
Hi @momocakino4633 , I am prone to seasickness, yet I have never experienced seasickness in any of the ferries or speedboats in Thailand. Take some motion medicine with you, just in case. Again, I've never had problems in Thailand :)
So beautiful, but sad though. I was there in mid 90's. We stayed in wooded bungalow on the cliff with a ceramic bathroom. It did have a shower, but everything else was just like people houses. The next day we moved to a hut on the beach 2$/night. It was just a primitive hut with a lift up bed with a pad. Shower was on the beach if I remember correctly. The owner, a fisherman, went fishing during the day. He brought fishes over in the evening. His place must have been gone by now, judging from the vdo I've seen in youtube recently. It's sad. The most luxurious on the island was that bungalow we stayed the 1st night. If I knew what ive learned now, I would have told him to never sell it. :(
Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. ❤ It is sad when beautiful places are discovered and overbuilt. Parts of the island are still quiet, and you can find secluded land.
Please I have question about transport boat it’s necessary to buy all the tickets boat these I need or it’s not a problem I can buy them there because I’m just afraid to find boat tickets already sold out
Hi Simo, if you are traveling with a bigger ferry, there should be space to buy the tickets there. If you are traveling by speedboat, you might want to book your ticket in advance just in case. If you know your travel dates, you can easily book online and not worry about it.
@@TravelRoads to be honest I don’t know which ferry is there , for example I have to travel from koh tao to Surat Thani in your opinion which boat are available in this case
The hotel was closed when we were there. I assumed it was closed because of the pandemic. There were some staff and cleaning personnel around the hotel. We walked to the terrace overlooking to sea to take some photos. It's a nice spot.
For something overwater to see, I recommend the lava black monitor lizards, the most advanced and intelligent living family of lizard reptile predators, though they are generally rather slow moving and not that dangerous as long as you don't crowd them. Their bite is venomous.
Don’t take the five stop 60+ person tourist snorkeling boats. They only take you to places where there is dead coral. You are only allowed to snorkel within the roped off swimming areas. It’s horribly depressing. Learned from experience this week in Koh Tao.
Koh Kradan has a smaller reef on two sides of the island. It’s a great place to see colorful fishes up close. You can also spot smaller marine animals as you float directly over the reef. Koh Tao is a big island with many snorkeling spots. You can see bigger marine animals too (turtles and sharks). There are more snorkeling spots and opportunities on Koh Tao than on Koh Kradan. If you’re going mainly for snorkeling- choose Koh Tao. If you are a beginner looking for a relaxing/romantic island with snorkeling off the beach- choose Koh Kradan. I hope this helps. ☺
Was hoping the coral 🪸 would of been in better shape , most of it looks dead sadly , are there better spots for water visibility and sea life , sorry but this is sad , the island looks good but underwater it looks dead .
Hi David, I'm sorry to hear that. Very sad. When I last saw the island, the coral was doing well. During the pandemic, the reef was left alone for a while, and it made a big difference. Thanks for your feedback.
We had no problems on the island. All the local people were very friendly and helpful. When we lost our drone in the jungle, the entire community came together to help us.
Hi Vin, I did read this too before going to the island and was a bit nervous about it. Turns out, the community living on Koh Tao is super friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend Chalok Baan Khao. The resorts/guesthouses are buildt directly on the beach without any gap. Not possible to walk beach to another Restaurant or Bar in the evening (only possible via long bypass). Sai Nuan is still one of the best spots on the island. Shark Bay has completely changed its appearance - 15 years ago there was nearly nothing, nowadays concrete buildings wherever you are looking. Thai is nearly not spoken anymore on the whole island : Overflooded with Burmese migrant workers, which are often treated like cattle by locals. Would not recommend Koh Tao to anybody.
Came here to say this. To be direct, you would have to be a complete ignoramus to visit that Island as a westerner. Especially a woman. Westerners get murdered there on a regular basis. The place is run by the mafia. If you want to financially support the degenerate Thai mafia as they continue to assault and murder people from around the world, then go ahead and vacation here. Otherwise choose somewhere else.

Try Google Earth or buy stock footage to get the shots you need.
