The M14 was not produced as an upgrade to the M1 Garand. It was made to fulfill a contract for a magazine-fed automatic weapon for the US Army, who gave Springfield the contract on two principle factors: Cost, and pedigree. the m1 garand had an upgrade in form of a m1 carbine so far I know. (M14 is based on this if I'm not mistaken, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)
@@MrSunglxzz M1 Carbine is an entirely different weapon system. The M1 Garand was a front line Infantry rifle and the M1 Carbine was designed to replace the pistol in the hands of 2nd line troops (mortarmen, cooks, etc). The only relation of the M14 to the M1 Carbine was the US Army wanted to replace the M1 Garand (rifle), M1 Carbine (carbine), M3 Grease Gun (smg), and BAR (automatic rifle) with a single weapon system (M14). Replacing everything with one weapon system, much less a full-power 30cal system, was of course a fool's errand. The M14 (T44 during trials) went up against the FAL (T48), and the T44 won being the US design vs foreign design, being lighter with fewer parts, being similar to the M1 Garand for training/re-training purposes, and supposedly being able to utilize old Garand tooling and expertise for manufacture (which turned out to generally be false).

So, the reason why the SCAR H destroys optics is a combination of the bolt carrier group and the return spring. The bolt carrier group is a massive chunk of metal, and the return spring only mitigates enough recoil for the weapon to be functional, but not enough to prevent that massive chungus of a BCG from slamming back and creating the harmonics necessary to destroy optics. The best way to prevent this is 1.) Good mounts and/or 2.) good optics. If you have something like an Eotech, Vortex, Elcan, or some other reputable optic with a good manufacturing process, you'll be fine. If you have an optic that requires a mount, a good mount will also help further reduce the damage done to the optic. The SCAR L never had this issue. The SCAR L failed for it's own set of reasons. These reasons are magazine feed issues when using standard, non FN magazines, reliability issues with the internals when exposed to adverse conditions, Cost vs complexity where the SCAR was seen as a more complex and thus more expensive platform to maintain compared to the M16/M4 and lack of perceived performance improvement over the existing M16/M4. I personally chaulk this up to the cartridge more than the weapon system itself. Basically the bean counters decided that it wasn't worth the investment for such little performance gain and other issues.
correction. Before moving to SPAIN to work at CETME, captured Mauser engineers were working in France at CEAM. Some of'em decided to move to Spain after the French government decided to cancel the CEAM Modele 50, a rifle based upon the StG45(M) chambered in .30 Carbine. and at first the German Federal government and HK had indeed purchased a production license from CETME, and some time later they ended up purchasing the rights. It might be thrown in with penetration, but another use case for full-power cartridges is vehicles. It doesn't take much to pop a tire, break a window, or even penetrate car panels, but wheels, axles, engine blocks, and sometimes parts of the frame can slow a bullet or change its trajectory if hid behind, and are mostly decent places to aim to try to disable a vehicle. I have once heard but cannot verify that the HK51/MC51, as equally horrific and alluring as it is (being a G3 cut down to the size of an MP5), was designed/modified to, among other things, fire from within a vehicle, at another vehicle. Perhaps that information was a distortion of simply being intended to be a gun for a vehicle crew to stow away until rifle-grade penetration in an SMG-sized package would be needed... which means that the HK51/MC51 is technically a PDW in .308.

The reciprocating charging handle was definitely the weirdest part of shooting the SCAR. I'm primarily used to AR-15s and I could definitely notice the mechanical action of the handle going back and forth.
Funny thing is that it was a contract requirement as it was believed a reciprocating charging handle would make it easier to clear stoppages. H&K could (and have) made the rifle without it.
My dad served in the Bundeswehr, tho the g36 was already issued to them, they still used the G3 for some reason. He told me how flippin hard the g3 would kick your shoulder..
Those new battle riffles are so OP so satisfying to use, literally turned this game into a har mode COD. M14 recoil is not that bad and definitely manageable if you have any competitive FPS game backgrounds. I literally solo speed ran all the Darker Waters maps with ease with those guns.

The battle rifles sound so immersive I have real non service related tinnitus. Also the MP5SD sound is spot on. I've never heard an in game one sound so close to the real thing. Amazing work!
Kudos for making every gun in RoN sound like something worth wearing ear protection for. Especially the shotguns, because they sounds like you're shooting a freight train at someone.
One interesting use of surplus M14s in law enforcement use. They are/where commonly issued to game wardens as .308 is considered a good choice for dealing with hostile wildlife.
I had the ACR stock on my Scar 17 and it dinged up the screws on my receiver plate. Switched back to the Ugg boot stock and its fine now. I wish we got the standard looking Scar 16/Mk16 CQC and the Mk17 instead of already modified looking ones.
The SCAR-H PR has a long monolithic upper receiver that goes over and under the gass block, leaving 2 openings on the sides only. No extra attachments needed to extend the area available for the supporting hand. Although, in my experience, it's only in semi-auto. Though I could be wrong on that
The battle rifle slowly claws its way back to military adoption, with the US adopting the Spear, the Germans the 417, and I figure it's only a matter of time before most of Europe starts to switch to a full-power chambering for their standard service weapons, minus maybe the Brits and French, who just adopted the SR-16 by KAC. It wouldn't surprise me if Russia or China come out with a newer rifle in either 7.62x54mmR, or a similar round that's rimless, here in the near future now that open warfare against targets with body armor has come back into fashion.
Yes but it depends on the type of battle. In the open field it can give you edge but in close combat no. The g3 is 5 kilos naked and long barrell. Zero mobility in a building.Great weapon for its age, but only long range. Iv had A3s & A4s irl believe me they are heavy as hell.
@goergeathens Polymers, aluminum, and general machining prinicpals have (at least I hope) improved since the 1970s. Ballistics have improved to the point where .277 SIG from a 16in barrel is putting out .308 velocity and muzzle energy from a 22in barrel, while weighing a full kilo less than a G3, with a suppressor amd optic. Even a 13.5" barrel gives you better energy and penetration than 5.56 out of a similar length barrel. Is everyone going to get one? Not for a little while. But we've had 60+ years to improve the systems we have, and it's about damn time someone actually made the leap.
@@kingawsume well i suppose a modern rifle would be better and i hope so too as you said, its the old ones i was refering to. 417 is surely easier to use being an AR.

I knew I wasn't the only one who heard it
I freaking love my scar! I have the same setup as your thumbnail for it. Vortex scope and the kdg rail. Love your video man
Full length G3, my beloved.
Fantastic video! Love the montage at the end!
@@dylanjohnstone5119 FN made the SCAR not H&K.
@@EmmettMontanaro yea, somehow I blanked out 😭 thanks.
The ending montage with the MP5SD got me fully torqued ngl
I love the hypebeast quip at the end of the SCAR-H review lol.
Perfect transitions on the video talking about a weapon then transitioning the next.
👏🏻👏🏻
I had a Century Arms C308 (their take on the G3), and while I loved it and it was a blast to shoot it just jammed a bunch
Yeah, as you said it was a Century. In the US I heard the PTRs should be better.
M14 + the old school 90's outfit = Lincoln LARP
My dad served in the Bundeswehr, tho the g36 was already issued to them, they still used the G3 for some reason. He told me how flippin hard the g3 would kick your shoulder..
Those new battle riffles are so OP so satisfying to use, literally turned this game into a har mode COD. M14 recoil is not that bad and definitely manageable if you have any competitive FPS game backgrounds. I literally solo speed ran all the Darker Waters maps with ease with those guns.
Bruh imagine getting smoked through 6 rooms worth of drywall and concussed with muzzle flash when they fire up that g3
My favourite is the G3a3 even on full auto this thing is well controllable!
Had great fun with the full auto M14 on triad. Point it in the general direction of a muzzle flash and hold on.
The HK-51 having such a massive muzzle blast is a really nice touch. Devs definitely understand the gas system SBR’s
i was interested in the dlc for the maps but am going to buy it tomorrow because of the G3 :D G3 is my favorite because military in my country used it for long time and even manufacture it under license :D But i really do hope that Ready or Not add some of the stuff from Ground Branch, and even to have 2 main weapons :D
Guns are free in the new update.
@@RichardRMM oh nice :D
22:06 onward... lets just say you made my day better.
the COD 4 Mile High Club reference was absolutely insane! Wow!
Romeo One-One: We’re going deep and we’re going hard.
Charlie One-One: Surely you can’t be serious?
Romeo One-One: I am serious…and don't call me Shirley.
*Mile High Club Soundtrack kicks in*
Some may call it an "unauthorized use of force", I like to call it "Neutralizing the threat"
what an amazing video, very high quality mate
I love your presentation. Keep up the great work. Subbed for sure👍
The MP5SD is just as deadly against armored suspects. When you flip the fun switch, that is. 😈
The new SCAR models apparently made the charging handle non-reciprocating. Games keep adding the version with the reciprocating handle because of the cool factor, probably
The MW4 OST in the MP5SD section was spot on
Ah yes the HK51, a repeating flashbang dispenser that also happens to shoot bullets
MP5SD is one of the classiest guns, let alone SMGs
Aye nice work on the video! Nice tidbits with history.
Just some minor thing I'll add though, the M14 depicted is the standard M14 (because full auto) with the barrel and stock of the SOCOM. Just a being bit pendatic since I just updated the Imfdb page. 😅
We are actually moving back towards bigger and heavier rounds because combat is getting farther and farther in it’s engagement range.
A real man would use a Nemo OMEN Recon as a SWAT member.
The G3 the scar H and the mp5sd? How did they manage to add exactly my top 3 weapons in a single update?
Fell in love with the MP5SD after Mile High Club, every game it's in i always make a loadout called "airplane" or "Otto" maybe next will be called "turkish prison" or something...
Fort Myers Florida Sheriff used a high caliber rifle to shoot through a computer monitor and subdued a suspect that was holding hostages.
Narcos level soundtrack at the beginning holy based
Now I want a G53, the 5.56 version of the G51. I loved that thing in BF3.
_"Brought to you, by VOID Interactive."_
Excellent marketing move, VOID!
Also, excellent video!
Fuck yeah, finally some stuff that isn't an AR-15 :D . Hope these have appropriately devastating stopping power in-game!
I like the fact that the M14 socom 16, HK G3, SCAR-L, MP5SD and HK 51 has Girls' Frontline easter eggs on them
Looks like VOID interactive devs are also hardcore COD fans
7:36 Gordon is gone man I’ll be outside
Would love a 5.56 or 5.45 AK variant in a future update
The AK that is in the game is a 5.56 variant.
I kept your comments on the sa58 in your previous vids in mind when I made the sounds for these. 👍
That CoD4 edit at the end makes my heart happy btw.
And god said: Give them 7.62 cause that shit lit
@@CastledCard Real
My boy got sponsored, hell yeah!!!
15:54 „RAMIREZ! Light the flares!“
law enforcement here in brazil pretty much just uses 7.62x51 because of the MASSIVE surplus of FALs from the army to the police
I had the ACR stock on my Scar 17 and it dinged up the screws on my receiver plate. Switched back to the Ugg boot stock and its fine now. I wish we got the standard looking Scar 16/Mk16 CQC and the Mk17 instead of already modified looking ones.
Imagine the face of the pegleg gang when they realized they don't have the biggest gun in the fight
4:03 it's the guys who failed to engage a shooter in plain sight
oh hell yeah, when the update drops im leaving no witnesses
