    As far as output, what I do is look at the leaderboard on the right and stay ahead of my output numbers from the previous timed ride of that given length. That way I can nearly always have a personal best for that time length and continue improving. This has worked extremely well for me on the bike. Our Tread arrives in a few days, and I think that method will work just as well on it, since both machines have a leaderboard and show your previous walk/ride output numbers. At least from what I observed in the store, both machines seem to be the same in that regard.

    Great video. As you use the machine more, can you do a tutorial on the maintenance? Example, do you have to put oil on the belt? Do you have to tighten the belt? If so, a how to video would be great.

    Thanks for the tips, Steve! Appreciated! My wife and I just bought a Bike+ and are considering adding a Tread to the family but had the same concerns you raised in your video re: wobbly-ness and screen height. Seems the Tread+ which is available in the US would counteract that but at a larger footprint and price tag. Thanks for taking the time to make your videos! Cheers.

    I ordered my bike plus in Canada thanks to your videos. Having said that the tread is honestly outclassed by sole f80 and horizon 7.8 at. The tread plus looks amazing however the 6000 dollar price tag is too much. I think though they have priced them self out of this tread with its quality and performance. Keep up the great work.

    Hi Steve, thanks for the tips!
    We also have the bike and have had the tread for a little shy of a month. I’ve noticed that I’m performing better on the bike than I was before. I alternate between the two. I tried doing both but it was overkill. One day bike and next day tread... Still doing walks on the tread but I’m finding that I’m getting stronger by the day. Hope this helps?
    Your gym looks great!

  • @daimonicgundogs7141
    @daimonicgundogs7141 3 года назад +8

    Hi Steve; running shortens the hamstrings whereas Cycling uses them. Its possible this is why your cycling stats have deteriorated. Overall I bet your body is actually healthier and more flexible because you have better balanced leg muscles. So keep alternating rather than gaining a dominant cycling bod 💪🤗.

    • @SteveJulien
      @SteveJulien  3 года назад

      Good point!

    • @angus0072
      @angus0072 3 года назад

      It’s generally the other way round, cyclists typically have shorter hamstrings as they are not putting them through their full range of motion on the bike. Runners tend to over stretch the muscles resulting in a strain etc

  • @TheDangerousKid
    @TheDangerousKid 3 года назад +3

    I wouldn’t worry about your output being less on the bike compared to a tread run because running is far more exertion than cycling. If your output is going down then maybe it’s your body adjusting to now doing more intense sessions on the tread and over time will come back up. I certainly know if I step away from the bike when I go back to it takes awhile to bring endurance, it is working different muscles I guess

  • @jacey9152

    I can't wait to eventually get one! I agree that it'd probably be nice to have the screen at eye level...but I guarantee that it would shake even more if it were since it'd be further extended from the tread.

    I mountain bike every weekend since the start of 2020. Went from hopelessly unfit to quite fit but noticed starting to plateau. Took up running (do 4-5KM most week days at 5:30/km ish pace) and my fitness on the bike has noticeably increased.
    Running and cycling are quite often cross trained so maybe it is some over training?

    Another 2 questions. Q1 Is the machine quiet? I live in an apartment and I wouldn't want to bother my neighbors. Q2 Can I just run (using a marathon training plan) without joining a class, and still have it record my run to my activity chart?

    • @SteveJulien
      @SteveJulien  3 года назад +1

      Hi,
      The machine itself is fairly quiet but the thudding of running on any machine will transfer noise unless you live in a very sturdy building.
      Yes, you can just jump on and select ‘just run’ and get all the data.

    I wish they would have made a bigger tray area under the screen. Then you could put your laptop/iPad for working/Netflix. Also have the cup holders center rather than to the left or right would seem awkward. I’d worry about getting the bottle back in that narrow holder when I grab it during a run and throw it back in there (like I do with my old treadmill now). What do you think about the tray/bottle area? Do you think there’s a way to create a tray to fit on it? Thanks!

    The bike and tread outputs aren’t directly comparable. You generate more watts from a tread workout than a bike. For example, my FTP (max power over an hour) on the bike is about 220W but on the tread I hit 220 when I’m just in a light jog. The better comparison is to look at your FTP on the bike and 5k time trial for run and how it changes over time to understand progress.
