    This is a really great video, you come across really well, with a really sensible approach and help any new runner get inspired. Thanks for the full rundown of how it works and the screen this has really helped. I am currently using the peloton app alongside my life fitness running treadmill and I have been really enjoying the coaches and how they inspire you through each run. I am considering changing my ex gym running machine to a peloton.

    Great video and content! It sold me on getting one for my wife. I’m 6’ 4” and when I tested this machine at the Peloton store, it felt good, but I agree that the screen feels a little to low for my taste. Peloton should give you a commission for getting us into both machines. Since I’m a veteran, they threw in for free two exercise mats, three set of dumbbells, resistance bands, HR monitor, and bike shoes. I’ll do more reviews as time goes on but it feels good. Firmer than my old gym runners but better at the same time. My knees and calves are sensitive but so far so good. This is as much down to the coaching from the instructors though as the machine build.

  • @purebeaux742
    @purebeaux742 3 года назад +2

    What about the cushioning? I've read differing things. Some say it's a lot more stiff than the Tread+'s rubberized slats and others say its comparable. I'm on the fence about the Tread+, Tread, and Nordictrack X22i.
    Also, I'm glad you mentioned the importance of footwear. I started running (seriously) in November 2019. Around the end of January 2020 I almost stopped because my ankles and knees would ache constantly. Ended up going to a running store and doing the same thing you did. After my fitting and using the custom orthotic inserts it was a night and day difference. Ended up running 91 5Ks in 2020 and logged almost 40 miles in 2021 so far :-D

    • @SteveJulien

      Great result with your running shoes and 91 5k’s!

    • @skullartcollector

    How did you select your TV with respect to the casting functionality from the Peloton Tread. It seems to use something called miracasting and it seems that not all monitors use that as a standard. Was that a factor in your TV selection?
    Great video.

    • @SteveJulien
      @SteveJulien  3 года назад +1

      Yes, you need a TV that can miracast or airplay.

    • @SteveJulien

      Thanks!
      You can cast to any smart TV capable of retrieving the signal for all the workouts.
      For example, with a boot camp workout, you’ll be part running and part lifting so works really well then.

I absolutely love running I have been running outdoors for years until I hurt my knees now I am in pain every time I run, so I was thinking of getting the tread. How is the belt on the tread because it does not have the shock absorbing belt? Plus do you use the bike more or the tread
    Even though I love the bike I feel because of my love for running I would end up using the tread more.

    • @SteveJulien
      @SteveJulien  3 года назад +1

      Hi!
      I always feel like I have weak knees and they can easily ‘twist’ when you moving around the house for example.
      I’ve also had a arthroscopic surgery one one of them.
      Running (and Peloton/Apple strength) seem to have strengthened the muscles around them and I haven’t got any problems.
      I’ve also had my shoes fitted by a running shop and wear heal supports.
      So far (30 runs) so good.
      The belt feels great to me but I’m a very casual runner and never really run outdoors.
      I split my time between the bike and the Tread alternating daily for a 20 min workout.
      Hope that helps!

      @@_Wow3kids_ I'd say most that buy the bike, are cyclists only( mainly), or people that look for cardio, do spin classes or want more of a no impact exercise. It definitely is not like your out on your roadbike, at times, but it's not the same. Both have the ability to watch outdoor locations while you ride or bike. I think the tread is more versatile. You can go for a power walk... Go for a hike( that liked my ass-incline of 12 speed of 4....omg, or run...... Or run walk, using one if you have both, allows for one to warm up for the other. Obviously the bike has a smaller foot print. I will say the Treadmill is my favorite, those knobs, the info on the display. More options: I just want to walk, or HIIT... The thing I miss on the bike is the ability to not coast while you ride, zzzzzzz, only pedal or no pedal(it stops and so do your legs)

    Mines arrived today, anything over 3/4mph and the belt seems to slip or slide abit- is yours the same?

    • @SteveJulien
      @SteveJulien  3 года назад +1

      Not really. It might need tightening. It tells you how to do it in the book or on the website FAQ.

    I’ve heard it can damage carpet. Have you experienced this?

    • @SteveJulien
      @SteveJulien  3 года назад +1

      It will leave compression marks like a sofa would but I don’t think it would damage the carpet.
      You can always put it on a mat for extra protection.

    Be wary. I used treadmills for 50 mins per day every day for 2 months at the local gym. Unfortunately it strips away your knee cartilage. I now have perminently damaged knees and was crippled for a long time from patella cartilage erosion where it was so painful I couldn't walk or support my weight as my knees felt like they would give way. It took 2 years for normal function to return where my knees didn't creak and give me tremendous pain walking up stairs. Biomechanically its similar to running down hill when using a treadmill which is why it creates such damage with any serious use. The way the belt moves under your feet when putting tonnes of pressure on each foorstroke creates this effect. So you have to keep it low impact which ruins the whole point of a workout any why the spin bike is so much better. There are many articles on this fact of knee damage but the treadmill industry has been successfully putting out articles that minimise this aspect by blaming running style etc...

    How much do you weigh And does it jerk? Also does the treadmill work without the screen being on? Does it let you cast your own video on to screen

    • @SteveJulien
      @SteveJulien  3 года назад +1

      175lbs.
      It’s very stable but does judder slightly when you start using the incline.
      Yes, you can get on and just turn the speed/incline up without touching the screen.
      You can cast from it, but not to it, however I have a video coming out tonight showing how to get to the Web browser on the bike, which also works on the tread.

    How loud is this machine? Can it be used in an apartment?

    • @SteveJulien

      The Tread is fairly quiet but unless you’re on the ground floor, or in a really solid building, I think the thumping of running may transfer to other units.

      I think you get a ‘just run’ option without the subscription. Double check though!

    Peloton equipment are built like tanks. The bike we had was indestructible. I could care less about the subscription service though.

    for 60 min. run . I will be poking at the screen for 50 min. standing on the tread and then run for 10 min. and then convince myself that i was running for 60 minutes on the tread.
