You should give Vela a chance, I am just like you, Les Paul guy, my favorite is the 594. I tried a solid body Vela from a friend, and I was surprised by the tones you can get from it. I started to enjoy the neck single-coil based on DeArmond Dynasonic. Sounded like a mix of a Gretsch and a Tele. I ended up getting a gorgeous Private Stock Vela with maple burl top and matching pickguard, I always go back to my 594s but the Vela is such an interesting guitar and makes me play in a different way, it's a nice guitar and very thin compared to the tick LP style I play. Just to be clear, both the S2 standard 22 and 24 now have the 58/15 LT pups. I’ve been a 22 fret player for most of my guitar playing life but chose the standard 24 satin over the 22 because these days actually prefer the bite and articulation of the neck pickup that is inherently placed closer to the bridge on 24 fret guitars. Mine arrives, Friday.. can’t wait!! Thanks for your insight in this review!!
Great vid as usual. The thinnest neck PRS makes is found on the Dustie Waring CE - it’s based on the pattern thin profile, modified to be slightly thinner depth-wise
