I had an Australian Tree Fern in a pot on the front porch, and one in the ground in a garden under a shade tree. We had a one week long, freak, ice storm a couple years ago. Freakish weather for South East Texas on the Gulf. The one on the porch, in the pot, died. The one under the shade tree -- which was buried in snow and ice, is still alive. I did not even realize I had planted one there. I had planted it along with several other ferns, thinking it was one of them. I checked on it this year, and yeah, it is getting bigger. Amazing.
I'm located in North Central Florida (9B) on Red Water Lake. I am currently growing 8 Australian Tree Ferns along with a variety of Gingers, Philodendra, Heliconias, Gardenias and hundreds of bromeliads. The ferns grow well in light and mid-shaded areas and are planted utilizing compost, general soil, and dog manure and the plants are covered in mulch. Each plant averages a growth of 8 to 10 feet high and 12 feet wide. They take little care except for some trimming a couple of times a year. Plants grow fairly rapidly and reach full size in up to 4 years. The plants tolerate the hot, humid Florida temperature and short, cool winter. They are beautiful to look at and walk around - an amazing shady garden. I am importing some other large ferns for expansion. In sunnier areas, I grow varieties of Cannas, Roses, Irises, Hibiscus and bougainvilleas.
Amazing and beautiful seeing these unfold.
Chose this video to show my 4 year old how our fern is going to unfold. Nice work!
remember to show him/her peaches fuck the pain away

That's absolutely beautiful!
I have 3 of these...one is big enough to drape most of my porch with its fronds. Nice video
That's beautiful mate
So brilliant!!
beautiful work! I can nor find these here in Cambodia, plenty of other types.
One question why its a big Black hole
Wish my fern didn’t die, :( it was poisoned by using the wrong soil
Maybe you used clay soil
Immidietly change it to a well draining soil
kinda spooky.
Under the plant
