- This video is of Tim and Maddy Harland's beautiful no dig permaculture kitchen garden in Hapmshire UK. Tim and Maddy are the founders of the fantastic @PermacultureMagazine and have a tranquil vegetable garden, meadow and food forest at their home that has been maturing for 25 years! I hope that this is a prime example of what can be achieved in a relatively small space, and that you don't always have to follow the norms when it comes to growing your own food.
No dig gardening is a wonderful method of growing food as it brings a whole host of benefits. Not only are you saving time and effort in the garden, you're also improving the health of your soil and as a result, the health of your plants. I love the geometry that Maddy and Tim have with their triangle shaped raised beds, as well as a big emphasis on vertical gardening and permaculture principles.

Is this no dig organic farming vegetables healthy for human consumption?
Hi, Iove that riangle idea garden for my herbs. That's awesome. Greetings from Bulgaria.
I adore how proud she is of the peach tree. The giver of those peaches made her feel special and I love that! The gardening community is such a generous and uplifting one.
How are you doing today Stacy and how is the weather over there
That’s what struck me most too! And I bet he’s thrilled to have given it to someone who appreciated it and ensures it’s well taken care of. Definitely sounds like a special peach =D
Maddy and Tim's garden is inspirational, thank you for sharing not only their garden, but their knowledge. A lovely video!
How are you doing today Liz and how is the weather over there
Incredible tour, Huw! I learned a lot.
Thanks so much Kevin! Really glad you enjoyed it!!
Omg it’s Kevin! Can’t wait to see your homestead come together!
This is what I will spend every summer the rest of my life doing.
Nothing more important than growing heathy food in a way that heals the planet - thank you!!
Now seriously, that was a h u g e amount of useful knowledge. Can't wait to apply it in my garden over the years. I saved the video, definitely going to come back to it. Thank you
FINALLY this answered my question about Pot Marigolds!!!... what a great all around video... camera angles... quality sound... lighting... and filled with useful knowledge.... another great piece HUW....
I can’t wait to go around and take notes from gardens like these. This is my goal to bring to a neighborhood and make it normal
Fantastic, i love the runner beans lean too idea.
Yeah it's so awesome!!
I love this idea too, but does it mean that you grow beans in the same spot every year?
@@helennightingale9924 I would assume so, there's a lot of debate right now about being able to do so. Traditionally we rotate crops but there's rising evidence that we don't need to do that in gardens that have well tended soil. Depends on the plant of course.
Me too. I really love it.
Very inspirational video! Love the Comfrey border. I use Comfrey as a border around the garden area to keep grass from creeping into the gardens, and get the bonus of very rich mulch from the cut Comfrey leaves. The plant that keeps on giving.
I love learning from others who are doing so much with small spaces! Thanks for the inspiration! 🌱
Love this garden and the whole permaculture ethos. I'm going to start small with a couple of beds on my allotment.
I’ve watched this 3 times already it is making me feel very happy and inspired
Cool compost bin. I would have never thought of giant tractor tires for that purpose.
But not so eco, unfortunately :(
@@anitaszymanska510 Well atleast it reusing and repurposing things, which is substainable. It can be recycled aswell.
Love how she gave credit to the person from Berlin
That is an amazing garden design. It looks amazing both from the ground and the air. It's a very creative use of space.
How are you doing today Tommy and how is the weather over there
I literally burst into tears of joy when I saw that first overhead shot of your garden. Paradise! What a beautiful and enduring legacy! Glorious!!!
A lot of serious hard work and hey presto a growing garden oasis! Beautiful. Permaculture adopted by all would save the planet. I don’t have an amazing garden space like this but manage a fair amount in my 3rd floor balcony and living room. Permaculture can be anywhere so get to it folks!
Way to go Rob.
Thank you for slowly speaking that even I understand.
What a beautifull little paradise! A lot of inspiration! Thanks for sharing!!!
2 minutes in and i just adore this lady already. Thank you for this inspiration and wealth of growing knowledge :)
Love your channel mate, about to start my very first allotment. Got both your books so I'm armed and dangerous. Thank you for all your hard work
That was a beautiful informative link. Thanks. Really lovely to see stunning permaculture gardens. I came into permaculture via architecture and town planning in the late 1980s. I'm surprised that the gardening aspect now seems to dominate now rather than the social support networks, building and suburban planning, energy flow analysis, transport support, education, food security on a large scale, holistic land management, forest maintenance, financial planning, toxic waste reduction and management ... I'm sure the tide will change and the original topics will be included along side the garden homestead...
Hello, I work as a lecturer for a recycling company and I highly suggest that you do not compost your paper from the office that is covered in ink, as the colours from printers contain very heavy metals like zinc (although in small amounts) that then get transferred to your compost and your vegetables and fruits. Although this just a tip for your health but this is an amazing video overall, very informational and now I want to visit Zegg to see all those beautiful peach trees!
Thats good point Elfie!
Also, your voice is very soothing.
Beautiful. This is my idea of paradise.

Your channel bring me inspiration to start my own vegetable Garden (in Brazil) thankyou so much
Oh I'm so glad to hear it!!! :D
Thank you for sharing Huw I just love the triangular layout of their garden it needs a really tall windmill or structure 😃 right in the middle. It makes our squares look dull but ha next years ideas. Be safe and stay gardening 🇨🇦🧑🌾✌️🥕🌶💐🥬
Maddy you are a true inspiration. Learned a lot. We love to use marigold in our vege patch as well as sunflower and also love companion gardening. Also love your voice and patience in talking- now days gardeners talk and explain so fast - at least for me. Thank you for sharing good video.
Wow I am just about to move to a new house with a beautiful big garden this is a must thank you learnt a lot
Their garden is absolutely beautiful thank you so much for sharing this.
How are you doing today Stacy and how is the weather over there
Your garden is beautiful! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge & the challenges you faced with this garden as well. Thank you SO MUCH!
Love the bean trellis on a slant idea. Thank You. Subscribed.
I absolutely love her setup. One of, if not my favorite gardens I've seen.
Love the bean roof
Thanks for the video. I am at stage where I need to decide the shape of my annual beds. Mine will also be right near the house in full view of my deck so visual appeal is important. Trying to decide between keyhole, rectangular or more organic shape is difficult. Hearing Maddy's comment about rectangular beds has only made the decision more difficult. Lol. Good to hear such an experienced opinion though.
I will do your garden planning course soon Huw, maybe that will lead me in a particular direction. Keep up the great content.
Wow, Thank you for another fantastic and fabulous collaboration :) & Thank you Maddie & Tim for the tour of your amazing garden. Learning so much ...
Thank you for sharing ma'am, ilove natural farming.
That is totally awesome! We are looking to re locate to a huge plot of mainly baron land with hardly anything on it at all and turn it into a permacuture wild life haven and for growing crops etc I have done companion planting like Maddy says for nearly 2 decades now and it really is the best way to bee.
Loving the compost bin, huge tyres .
lovely garden with healthy vegetables and fruits as well
Feeling refreshed ❤
I was happy to hear that my slug probably will go away. Last year I had to put the ducks in the garden to help
I love how you present and take us around your garden.
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!!! So gorgeous and practical. Thank you!
Hi to Maddy from Cork Ireland

How are you doing today Debra and how is the weather over there
I've bill Mollison,s book about,which I've had 30 yrs,I'll get it out & read it.
Nice work. I really enjoyed visiting Hampshire. One point though: You're quite correct to be cautious about possible toxins leeching from the railway sleepers, but how about with the large tractor tires for your compost?
I agree with you Mark.
Oh wow! The first 7 seconds is SO beautiful!! This garden layout is the stuff of storybook illustrations! I'm very jealous :-)
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you.

this is beautiful! it reminds me of tek (traditional ecological knowledge) and it's honestly so refreshing to see this kind of thing happening with people working WITH the rest of nature instead of against it. this is great :)
