One part of fishing videos I like best is seeing new and interesting areas, whether it be out on saltwater, on lakes or ponds, or smaller inland streams. Keep exploring and finding cool spots!
Nice one Nev. Glad to see you exploring some trout fishing. I was wondering when this would happen... hehe. I didn't went through all the comments, so maybe someone did already give these insights, but here I go. From experience, even a UL gear like yours (like perch and bass UL kind of gear) is generally too stiff in the middle part for trout fishing (I'm talking from VERY frustrating experienceS...), which is mostly why (IMO) you pulled the hooks out on so many. Trout rods are generally loading deeper in the blank during the fight (which doesn't mean they are noodles or lack sensitivity btw). In your case, the way you set the drag become then critical. To loose and you won't hook up well, too tight and you may pull the hooks out, especially if they jump. With stiffer rods, the use of "stretchy" line may help, like 4 to 6 lb strait fluoro (one to spool up, not one for leader) of even mono (but you will loose a lot of "feel" there). Single hooks may also be a good idea. You might miss more bites (more noticeably so if the fish are a tad picky or shy), but once they are pegged, they should stay on better. Of course, this will change the balance of your lure, which should be taken into account (an SP with trebles will likely become a slow float with singles). It also better when you want to release your catch. I think also that the size of your bait was "sorting" the size of the fish. If you were looking for quality, then you did just right. For numbers, you can drop to a 40 to 50 mm lure. And of course, sinking minnows, spoons and spinners (maybe not as glamorous as hard bodies, but which can be pretty technical too) come in handy to fish deep pools... hope this helps. Can't wait to see your next trip, wherever this will be. Thanks for all your good work. Not being born in Australia, it helps me heaps!! Well done on your first trout trip tho, you did really well!!
Great vlog Nev nice to see you have a crack at freshwater fishing for trout well done, trout are an amazing fish and the locations spectacular. I've only used the celta spinning lures for trout never thought of using a hard body lure great to see different methods work. Keep up the great work Nev cheers
Great video as always man. What a beautiful area, it really reminds me of my local river here in Scotland. Trout season starts here next week can't wait to get out again. Once it's a bit warmer I'll get out on the kayak at sea. Water's still only a couple of degrees yet though.
Great video. You need smaller singles for those little fish. The deeper pools tend to fish well in the cooler weather. Fish the rapids and faster moving water in the heat of the day :)
Nice fishing Nev , if you enjoyed that type of fishing learn to flyfish ,sight fishing with dryflies on small creeks like that will give you a buzz like nothing before , you may doubt me but try it and you will never go back ..
Nice work nev good to see you getting into the trout. Tip from me on dropped fish, if you’re using treble hooks that could be the reason. Swapping to double lure hooks would be my recommendation if using hard bodies. Nice meeting you out at salt water creek the other day too!
Grats on the Trout man, them Browns are healthy as. Another really good Trout lure is the Blue Fox Vibrax spinners, I personally use the Black and Green one and a good spot a long the rivers is where it goes from fast water to slow because they'll feed off the bugs when they come out of the faster water.
Excellent catch Nev. Trout are my favorite fish to catch here in the states. Nothing beats the serenity of walking those streams and the excitement of hooking up a 24" beauty. Hope you try out fly fishing for them later.
I fish little creeks like that at home. I’m mostly chasing jungle perch but it shows the weather difference from down south compared to North Queensland!😂😂😂 you won’t catch fishing with anything more than a Jackie Howe and a pair of shorts. I guess with the humidity in the rainforest the cool water is refreshing not freezing. 😂
Hello I trout fish a lot and you did well getting some trout but I recon that one of the reasons you could be dropping them is because you need to keep the rod tip up and I’m sure they could be difficult coming from a flatty fisher but you have to keep constant tension on them.
@@flynnralph4727 One of my all time favs was the mepps black fury. It's black with yellow dots on the blade and brown/black and beige fur on the hook. Very "buggy". 😁
great catch!! ive fished for trouts before and man do they get off!! ive lost really massive ones at Jindabyne lake, there are heaps of them in that lake!! but they are amazing to catch and really good eating!CHEERS!
It was great watching you do something totally different. That 2nd Brown was very big for that system and 4 total is not a bad way to spend the day. Great job as usual and hopefully we get to see more freshwater fishing from you in the future. Cheers!
Something I learned about trout way later than I should have ,,is you can find huge trout in tiny streams...and I mean steams that are only 50 to 100 cm across... I think maybe because no one thinks you would get fish that large in such a small stream...I've caught trout over 70cm in creeks that are only 50cm wide.
Ive only just started watching your vids as im keen to learn about lure fishing for bream. I come from a trout / fly fishing background and chase trout in the snowy mountains nsw and NE Victoria. You are certainly spoilt in Vic with the great bream and trout fishing. So you would be made not to get into the trout fishing more . Keep it coming :)

One of the best things I like about freshwater stream fishing is the 99% of the time in you’re in some of the best back country in Australia
I agree, amazing scenery!
I’m a bit late but as usual what a great upload! Love the variety in fishing you do these days
Appreciate it mate!
You picked a good water for your first Salmo Trutta experience mate - full of fish that one!

little spinners work great there mate, know most of the spots on the vid and we get heaps there on em
Ok sweet, will give em a crack!
@@NevsFishing Hi Nev, Ralph is bang on, small spinners for stream trout can't be beat. Cheers.

Awesome result for your 1st outing mate.
I have fished that spot and it's very nice water to walk
Such a lovely part of our state 👌👌
Appreciate it mate, was stoked with how the trip went!
Bullet lures, small rapala xraps and small spinners are the go for these small streams.
Thanks Nev you certainly have the Midas touch for making great videos. Great to watch you explore different area’s and species of fish. 👍🏻

Which river is this? Where did you access it?
Gotta go light pressure on trout. If you try to ski them in its very likely that tgeu shake off.
Your rainbows if they are in there like the faster water and pull harder. The browns like the calmer water.
and also for trout soft plastics buy a strike tiger nyph
Nice, video would love to see you try fly fishing
Is this the lerderderg river?
great vid mate and what river were u fishing
Hey mate, where did you get your jumper? Looks comfy as hell! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
That was a lot of fun Nev. Such a pretty creek and beauty colours on those browns. Cheers.
Such cool looking fish!! Glad you enjoyed!
You need to do some freshwater kayak fishing
Love your vids, Nev, but you've GOT to get into fly fishing.
Nev have you ever thought about spear fishing? Would be fun to watch you do or see you learn how
Yeah for sure will give that a crack!
Would you share the name of this river Nev.

I need a link to where you buy your jumpers. Sweet video as per usual 👌

a tenkara fly rod would work dandy in that small stream

Hey mate!
where was it roughly mate? or state...
nice video mate
You fishing in Tassie ?
Robbie’s fishing video s will give ya tips
Mate … I strongly recommend that you replace your trebles with Daichi chemically sharpened ones. You will get a much better hook up rate.
is this in tamworth ??
Mate, I hope you hit that hook with a sharpening stone. I always sharpen my hooks when I drop hook ups.
Nice vid
Mate that looks like deer country.. Were they good prints?
