    24/7 Awesome lesson. I've been wanting to learn this style of cross picking with walk downs and you teach it so it's so easy to pick up. blessing to you and gratitude.

    I've been a rhythm guitar player forever and wanted to take it up a notch. Do something different and more advanced. This is what I'll work on. I do mostly worship music and this should fit in well. I used to do this on a 12 string guitar 30+ years ago not knowing it was called cross picking. It was just easier than finger picking the 12 string. I didn't have the picking patterns nearly that structured. I basically winged it. I never heard complaints. The 12 string has been retired for a while.

    I just love the way you play and teach Howard !! You make things so easy the way you show it. Was just wondering if you someday made a video lesson of George Shuffler's Will You Miss Me ? Would love to learn it from you !! 😊😊

    Another great picking lesson Howard so thanks a lot. For anyone who might be interested, I think the song Time Was by Wishbone Ash would be a great song to apply this technique to. It is not too fast and has simple chords as well. Capo at 7th fret 😉

    That was awesome, I only wished that you had it also in tablature form along with the chords showing each up and down pick on each string in its chord form, but that is a little to much to ask for, but it would have made learning this style of playing a lot simpler for a beginner but I got to say it was beautiful to watch, I hope I can learn this style of playing guitar, thank you for this lesson.

    This was a great lesson.. To be sure I'm understanding though, the pattern can vary as long as root note and any walking notes are adhered to?

    Would you say HOW each player holds the pick is more up to what allows you to play best versus a "proper" technique? Tony Rice holds his pick very different from how you hold it, and when I tried holding it his way, I couldn't play anything well.

      This is a question asked by so many of my students over the years. "What's the best way to hold the pick"? - But I honestly think each player has to find his or her own way... as terrible as that answer sounds :-) I can't hold my pick like EVH and play anything. Pat Metheny holds his pick Backwards! Jimmy Page seems to hold his more at the butt of the pick. And yet, they are all fine players. I think the way I hold my pick is just the personal sweet spot that works for me.

    Hmmm....I followed the posted link and bought the lesson on Vimeo, but it's a different lesson! Is there a link to this example you are playing on acoustic using these chords?

    • @247GuitarwithHowardHart
      @247GuitarwithHowardHart  2 года назад

      The link is simply a "Deeper Dive" into the technique being covered, and for those who want to take it further... The video is just an 'introduction' to the cross-picking technique

      @@247GuitarwithHowardHart thanks Howard...which model is it please....sounds great!... presumably it is the electro acoustic. I notice a lot of Fender's are made in China nowadays...have you ever noticed any problems? Sorry for all the questions....just value your opinion a lot. Kind regards!. Chris

      No problems... It's a really nice guitar. And yes, it is Electro/Acoustic. It was a bit thin sounding at first, but it has broken in nicely and has a nice tone now.

    Could you tab the pattern

    • @247GuitarwithHowardHart
      @247GuitarwithHowardHart  2 года назад +1

      I usually include tabs in most of my lessons. But the chords here were so simple, as well as the verbal explanation, that I left it as is. However, I'm being asked to do a follow-up... Combining the cross-pricking with alternate picking. And I will definitely be including complete tabs with that one.
