      This course is the best one I've ever taken! Daniel is really knowledgeable and passionate,
      which makes the material interesting and easy to understand.
      It covers a lot of topics and is a great value for the price.
      I learned a lot of practical skills that I use every day and I'm sure you will too.
      Don't hesitate to take this course if you get the chance - it's a game-changer!

    Awesome lesson! Those are really the fundamentals everyone should know. I have personally found myself focusing more on arpeggios rather than triads, I feel it’s a more practical way to making bebop lines.

    Daniel's approach is so right to the point. 2 or 3 lecture statements in one vid not only can keep me busy for hours. I can hear myself this is the right way becoming a better player and musician.
    Daniel's channel and GMG teaching method is outstanding.
    I watch and practice something from his channel each day, because it is fun, too.

    Wes Montgomery didn't learn all the essentials. At the end of the day, it's about phrasing, which you develop from your ear as well as building inner timing skills. I'll never knock learning theory, however, you need to spend more time playing and learning songs/ standards than the time you spend with your face in a book. The brain can only take in, process and memorize so many concepts at a time. By playing, especially to backing tracks or along with recordings, you build valuable muscle memory and phrasing techniques. Bottom line is, everybody has different goals and there are different paths to take to get there. 🤙🎸🤖

    Love these lessons! sometimes i find myself cheating by thinking of triads through related chords, which always made me look at an augmented chord inside the altered scale instead of purely in its triad form. I think it makes it harder to encapsulate when i think of it this way because im locked into the familiar scale, time to hit the shed 🙏

    • @WeissGuitar
      @WeissGuitar  Год назад +3

      Hey there! Thank you so much for tuning in and for your comment. I'm glad you're enjoying the lessons! I wanted to let you know that thinking of triads through related chords (I call that 'Diatonic Awareness') is actually a great way to approach music. By doing so, you're exploring the harmonic and melodic possibilities within a key center, (melodic minor..lydian..included) and seeing how everything fits together within a scale's framework. It's definitely not a cheat - it's a valuable tool in your musical toolbox! Keep practicing and exploring your own path, and feel free to stay in touch. Thanks again for your support! stay in touch

    I have heard so many people say "learn the language"....what does that even mean??

    • @WeissGuitar
      @WeissGuitar  6 месяцев назад +2

      Absolutely! You've hit the nail on the head. Jazz is not just about regurgitating a set of predefined phrases; it's about internalizing the language to the point where it becomes an integral part of your musical DNA. Much like learning a spoken language, you start by imitating, absorbing, and then eventually innovating.
      As you immerse yourself in the intricacies of jazz, you'll find that your understanding of harmony, melody, and rhythm deepens. It's not just about playing the "right" notes but about developing a profound sensitivity to the musical context.
      By inviting jazz to shape your own unique style, you're essentially adding your voice to the ongoing dialogue of this genre. Just as every person has a distinct way of expressing themselves in spoken language, your musical voice in jazz becomes a reflection of your experiences, emotions, and interpretations.
      Harmony becomes a palette with which you paint your sonic landscapes, melody becomes the poetry of your expression, and rhythm becomes the heartbeat that propels your musical narrative forward. The beauty lies in the endless possibilities for personal interpretation and the freedom to explore the vast expanse of musical creativity.
      So, perhaps - embrace the language, let it seep into your musical consciousness, and then, my friend, let it flow through you as you contribute to the ever-evolving tapestry of jazz with your own unique understanding and style. Jazz, after all, is not just a genre; it's a living, breathing language waiting to be spoken in your voice. :) good luck

      It means learn the rhythm of jazz. Jazz has certain phrases that appear all the time. Just like blues and and poo music has phrases and rhythm you hear all the time.
