  • I've been using an old Speeco log splitter for the past year. My neighbor gave it to me, with the agreement that I would provide him with firewood. I've always split using a maul, so it was a bit different for me. It sat too low to the ground, so I had to use car ramps to raise it. It also needed a new engine. The Briggs and Stratton 3.5 horse engine from the 1970's was shot. I'm using my 1972 Sears SS12 to position the spitter and haul wood. Join me for a splitting session using this antique on a beautiful winter day.

Great video quality 👍 I really like how you showed the whole process of using the splitter.

I think I have the same one. Do you know how many tons yours is.Because mine has no info on it.

There is nothing I could find on the splitter that said how many tons it generates. I asked the neighbor, who originally got it in the 1970's, and he didn't know either. Although quite a bit slower than my new 25 ton splitter, it has the same engine on it and splits about the same......just a bit slower.
