I didn't realize Gimp uses layers like Photoshop. I've always been intimidated by layers but you make it much easier to understand. You don't assume that we know everything and I appreciate that.
This is exactly what I need. Step by step, slow methods I can re-watch. As a teacher, I commend your method and your calming voice. I'm definitely subscribing and going to watch many more of your tech. videos. Thank you.
Thank you. I’ve had GIMP for years, but never used it other than to straighten perspective because it was so intimidating. I mostly want it for photo editing.
Hi, can you create more GIMP tutorials? You have a perfect pace where you don't go too fast. It would be great to see GIMP basics that explains layers, and how to create a product logo/label and how to manipulate photographs.
I've always used photoshop. On my work computer I run cs6 and on my laptop some very old version of elements. I was about to go buy another version of elements and remembered GIMP. Your video convinced me to learn GIMP and skip elements. It really doesn't seem all that different... other than the price. :)
TechGumbo I'm into it. But I am new to software like these. I have never even used Photoshop, so I am taking a lot of time to get used to editing photos.
Wow! I am impressed. I have been watching GIMP videos for the last few days and this is by far the best beginner video I could find. Clearly explained and ideal pace for a newbie. Looking forward to watching more. I don't know about others, but I have to make notes as well or I won't remember the steps. Would be great to find a tutorial that has video as well as written steps or perhaps I am asking for too much. Can anyone recommend a good book something like "GIMP for Dummies". ¡Gracias Amigos!
Thank you for this. I've used Corel PhotoPaint for about 14 years, because my friend gave me a copy of it. Since I got my Windows 10 machine, I've been creating graphics on my old XP, then saving them to a flash drive so I could load them onto my new one, because I couldn't find a similar graphics program that I could run on it. When someone pointed out GIMP to me, I installed it, but was so confused by it I was about to give up trying. Your tutorial has taken away my apprehension. It'll be a while before I achieve that same level of comfort as with my old system, but this is now my new graphics program!
You should like Gimp. It gets easier the more you use it. Does not have as nice of a user interface as PhotoPaint...... If you are into artistic design, you may like Krita too.
Nice basic video. I am learning GIMP for my Facebook group and it is so powerful, but a little complicated. I will definitely be watching more How-To's on Gimp!
Lol I made a big mistake. I thought this was a tutorial for the plastic twine stuff I know to be called gimp that you can make keychains and bracelets with. I decided to stick around and learn about this GIMP too and make it the new thing I learn today (I am trying to learn something new everyday this year). I hope this isn't a program I have to pay for. I didn't hear you mention anything about cost but I am going to double-check on the site before I download it. I really do want to learn more about art programs and how to use them so maybe this will lead me to a new learning rabbit hole. I made a mistake choosing this video but it's looking like it will end up being a good mistake! Watching this video definitely has me wanting to play around with this program and you do a great job of explaining and instructing. Even though I don't do a lot of art this way, I am still surprised I have never heard of this problem. It seems like it would be pretty popular if more people knew it existed.
Finally something I can understand, Thank you!!. The other videos just talk fast and they say they are for beginners but they just go right into lingo I am not yet familiar with. I can't wait to move on. Are the videos for this in any kind of order?
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I have been fumbling around for a long time with Gimp until I found this video. I just subbed to your channel. Please do more tutorials.
As a former Photoshop user, I sometimes complain about GIMP because of some of the weird quirks about it. But, the truth is, I keep going back to it, because it's probably the next best thing to Photoshop, paid or otherwise. For that matter, it may be better than Photoshop by now for all I know, because I haven't used PS since CS3, and I have no idea how it's changed since then. And the amount of freedom that you have with GIMP compared to something like PS makes it a whole lot more convenient.
Thanks so much! This was one of the best tutorials I have ever seen on RUclips. Your presentation was easy to understand and presented logically. I have subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to learning more about Gimp.
I have used both Photoshop and Adobe, this is a great program, but it does have its own learning curve. I still like photoshop better, perhaps because I have used it more, but, I hope to use this as I can't afford the cost of the other programs. Sigh. There are a good many things missing in this program, and a bit harder to navigate, but it does the trick for good printable images etc. Thanks for the tips on getting used to GIMP:) Cheers!
You did a great job in this video. I hope you create more videos on GIMP. I had apparently turned some things off in the software and then was floundering. You covered just what I needed to get started.
I have been using Corel Draw Paint, Photo Shop and and Pain Shop Pro since the the beginning of photo editing on computers and I must say GIMP is the right name for that program as it is indeed the cripple of photo editing... Horribly user unfriendly (why do everything so differently from other photo editing programs?) and it can not handle RAW pictures from neither my old Fuji or Nikon 3D professional DSLR camera without distorting the colors and contrast ratio.
I'm using gimp as a free awesome alternative to Photoshop so I can make my own resource pack so thank you so much tech gumbo it's currently installing the software as I type
Thanks. GIMP is a perfect alternative to that "other" program. I find, for what I do it works great. The biggest thing I don't like about it is the interface. Having all those windows all over the screen can get downright aggravating at times.
Thank u so much. I didn't know how to make the dotted lines go away and now that you've taught me how, I look forward to learning gimp in detail. I normally use photoshop but I really do feel this program might be better (I just need to learn this one as I have photoshop).
Good tutorial, well presented and with clear and precise explanations, thanks, I have been trying to understand how to use Gimp, thanks to this I am on my way to using it with more confidence.
I'd love more tutorials on GIMP showing the various features and also how to re-format or save an existing file/logo into different file formats (from TIFF to AI or EPS)
Hello, this was a gret starter! Thank you for doing this. I need to know how to remove background from an image, OR change color of background. Also, I'd like to know how to manipulate 2 images into 1 imagie if possible. I look forward to more tutorials!
Thank you for this tutorial. After watching it, I understand why reviews say it has a steep learning curve (things I would expect to "just happen" after I choose them need another step, for example), but the tutorial has given me a sense of the system. Now I'm going to try to replicate "Hello."
UPDATE: The new updated video is now available. It includes tips, tricks and a thumbnail tutorial. ruclips.net/video/bxrDIAtvQfc/видео.html
I am studying this... 😄😄

Possibly. I have limited time and there doesn't seem to be much demand, but maybe in the future.
Hey I need to know how to insert a image
NVM I got it
Nine... how do u insert images?
Oh you just open the file explorer, loof for the picture and then drag it into your project...
Thanks TG. This short video was very helpful for me as a beginner. Keep up the good work.
This app is pretty famous in the Linux community. I have downloaded it several times while distro hopping but never used it . Now I would like to !!!
Thank you man, I'm gonna be making some spicy memes for the shitty groups I'm in
For added shit effect, use ms paint. Less shit, use powerpoint.
@@otherssingpuree1779 I tried and everyone was like wtf 😂
The explanation it´s so perfect, slow and clear.
nice slow teaching that's what I like thanks

Great video. I've used Gimp for a long time, and wouldn't use anything else. I subscribed, and wish you much success in your channel.
I think GIMP might be the greatest free software ever. Wish more people were into it.
TechGumbo I'm into it. But I am new to software like these. I have never even used Photoshop, so I am taking a lot of time to get used to editing photos.

Thank you! I'm new to GIMP and I had to search it up how to use GIMP and I saw this video with lots of views, so I had to watch it! SUBSCRIBED!
After switching from Windows to Ubuntu.. I'm very satisfied now with my new OS. Completely free
Thank you- very helpful and this is something new to me. i will practice more to explore what else it can do.
This is soo much help! In school we have to use Gimp to make a self portrait and not even the teacher knows anything about Gimp xp

GIMP is really good! The only complaint I have is the user-interface. For new users it can be intimidating.
