I have 10 Photoshop certificates and have only a Linux Ubuntu to work on, so you are a Godsend..I learned so much in the first 6 minutes I need a nap..so clear. I had trouble with other films just doing crop and putting 2 pictures together for Before and After...Recommend this teacher, thanks.
Since this is for "newbies", which I am, they have to know that they either have to create or open a file before you can try the tools, such as text. I d/l GIMP and tired to follow your video. Couldn't understand why I couldn't open the text box, until I realized you were working with a file already open. Once I clicked on NEW under the file menu and started a new "image" then I could use the tools. Very helpful and informative video - thank you for taking the time to produce it !
@@polarisdanceinstitute1602 that's too much, if you want more beginner-friendly tutorials there's a plethora of other videos to check out, this is good for learning basic features quickly
Sorry, but you're wrong he clearly showed how to open a file at 10:08. I've been in multimedia for 14 years, my advice; always watch the tutorial completely before watching it a second time to follow along. If you're doing something for the first time it's always a good idea knowing what you're getting into and with this being a video (that's not going anywhere) there's no need to be impatient.
Well finally something totally up to date!! THank you for doing this, I really like the program, and since I had started with photoshop and Adobe, it is not too hard to follow into this program.:)
I'm starting to use my Cricut machine and a tutorial I found said to download GIMP. I came here to find out what the program is like. Many thanks for going over the basics as it could have seemed overwhelming otherwise.
thank you so much mate, i really appreciate it for helping newbie like me, i hope u still make this kind of video but with more complicated and detalied design, thank you so much :)
I threw a like down here, which i rarely, do for one reason. The labelled slide bar to quickly go to the topics i care about. keep up the good work, and i pray to god that others follow in your footsteps
I've said this before... GIMP is my go to art/image program. It does everything most of the paid for ones do but it is FREE. I use it loads for my video thumbnails, image editing, effects and other stuff. Great video TechGumbo. :)
First time in the channel, Watching it cuz I gotta project to do. And Lemme tell you something This video is so helpful, I couldn't get anyone to explain it this clear and proper. Thank you TechGumbo!
Nice Video. Personally I prefer the single-windowed mode. Just never got use to having those windows floating all over the screen. And in the future could you maybe share a little something on how to wrap text around an image?
Hi, I am fairly new to GIMP ( have never used any form of photo editing programes ) and hopefully with your help I think I will get the confidence to have a go. Can I please ask, I have a photo of my Sister who sadly passed and I want to take the image of her out of the photo she is in and add her image onto a photo I have with my daughter who sadly never met her, but I would love to have a picture of them both together. Thank you and stay safe and well.
Brett thanks for teaching me that i can get away with 1920 by 1080 i always make thumbnails 1280 by 720 as youtube requires to in order to meet their 2MB requirements
thank you for making this bro you explained it so well,ii was having a hard time learning this cause this is what we're using on our computer subject right now
Perfect! I was now thinking about changing my channel's banner. i'm gonna give this a try. Love your channel's content man ! Gr8 stuff. Keep em coming!
Took me a little while to complete my 1st attempt. I'm a complete noob at photo editing software, so don't expect too much if ya check it out. But its better than what I had before... lol
"GIMP is a free and open-source raster graphics editor used for image manipulation and image editing, free-form drawing, transcoding between different image file formats, and more specialized tasks" The above text has been taken from WIKIPEDIA™, but I love it because IT IS HONEST. GIMP is a tool to manipulate images, so, when you are o photographer that is a tool to lie, (and you know it) so why pay a monthly fee to lie? Thanks for your tutorial and your patient with us, the beginners.
I do not yet understand every feature I have tried out in GIMP, but it is safe to say that this amazing program is a legal and digital reincarnation of hallucinogenic drugs! I never thought that one could have this much control over an image or drawing. It's just amazing.
Would like to use gimp for T-shirt designs & text on shirts for heat transfers. They would need to be on a clear background before sending them to a transfer co. Is something I can do on a chrome book? Thanks in advance
Thank you so much for this high quality video. Gimp was unpleasant for me as a beginner so watching tutorials like this is a great time investment. I do think Gimp is the best open source photo editing software. It just takes patientce to get comforatable with it.
Thanks for your video. It is really useful. Could you please tell me if text can be provided with Double color (or more...). Means upper layer of text one color and lower layer to another color. Like a flag. Can this be possible? Thanks for reading
While it's good to see that GIMP can handle things like drop shadows and strokes. Of course having it as non destructive effects in Photoshop with a live preview while you adjust values makes me wonder if GIMP has this sort of functionality on the todo list? I would love to use GIMP
I was just struggling with the same problem. I assume you've figured it out by now, but if not: got to edit > preferences > interface > toolbox and you can drag the tools out of their groups (by dragging them up) so they show up separately in the toolbox instead of under a group. You can then click on the eye next to each (empty) group to avoid having blank spaces in your toolbox.
Can you make a video on how to use audacity, da Vinci resolve, shotcut, and inkscape tutorial + tips and tricks all in one in a separate video of each software?
Please could you spare a moment and demonstrate how to make a collage from photos, and how to remove backgrounds from photos or turn backgrounds into transparencies ? It will be highly appreciated. Cheers
How can I apply editing for one photo to all other photos like changing the brightness sharpness and the exposure .. just editing one photo and then apply on all other photos ....for time lapse
can u make a video about how to make a profile picture that is combined with the other pictures exaple three different pictures and the allied in the same picture from bottom corner middle and top corner maybe even create a gap betwine the pictures just to create contrast if u would do somthing like this it would be so helpfull thank you
Thanks a lot for this video. Easy to follow. Also I liked your cursor as I have a vision problem and could easily see yours. Another channel for GIMP is so problematic I will no longer watch.
I don't have a lot of those tools and he nI try to crop an image save it then put it onto another it wont allow me to move the image to a different part of the screen and I am not sure if that is because of the layer difference and it is confusing me
If your reading this can someone tell me why when I use something in gimp it won't go away. Like I used Exposure and now when I click or do anything exposure just pops back up even tho I closed it.
How do I add an image to a picture? For example I have a picture where I am holding up an oval frame, how do I add a picture of myself in the picture of myself?
Learning some of the keyboard shortcuts will save you a lot of time when using frequent tools such as move (m) scale (shift + s ) and text (t).
How does one find all the keyboard shortcuts?
