    It's probably my fav track so far off the record, although Lux Æterna and If Darkness Had A Son did grow on me

      The riffing in this one is awesome since I’ve been listening more 😎

    This is the best album so far from what I’m hearing in a long time!

    Great video! This song gave me vibes of different eras. The main R^riff reminds me of Hardwired, the verse reminds me of Load/Reload and the chorus actually of Kill em All. And i really liked the solo, i think its way better than the other three solos. The first bit was classic Hammet, the middle part with double stops actually reminded me of Phil Campbell of Motörhead and the melody at the end was like Iron Maiden. Its not a life changing song, but i think its in every aspect more complex than the other three songs. Cheers

      Thanks! Yeah the solo was better than the other three, agreed! I actually do really like the solo melody when the harmony comes in. The riffing in this song is great!

      @@SeanBennettGuitar Its not the best solo he ever wrote, but this has feel which the other three solos lacked off in my opinion and yes that harmony is awesome, thats so classic Metallica. Hope to hear more great harmonies on the other songs. Btw i heard the last track on the album (Inamorata) is 11mins long and it has a bass solo in the style of Geezer Butler. As a bassist i am really hyped :D

    Hey Sean would love you to react to the band 'Berried Alive', I promise you will not be disappointed at all, they are pioneers of the metal genre in my opinion and their guitarist is one of the best in the world right now, check out their songs 'Ghost Pepper' or 'The Gratest' if you get the chance! I would love them to get more of the recognition they deserve

      Hey! Yeah I've already heard Berried Alive before. The guitar playing is absolutely mental 😂. Definitely heard 'The Gratest' but not sure about 'Ghost Pepper'. Berried Alive always used to come up on my social media but it hasn't for a while.

      @@SeanBennettGuitar anyone can sit down and play a guitar solo, but writing and playing 100+ solos over 40 years + playing them live on stage in front of thousands of people while being 60 years old isnt something many can (or will) ever do. you can play his solos all you want, but you arent ever going to be kirk hammett, and trying to pretend you nailed that solo after god knows how many attempts isnt getting you any closer 😉

    Man you are hella harsh on Kirk. I mean I get it but you rolled your eyes the moment the solo started and he hadn't even done anything yet. At least judge him at the end.

      My friend, if I judged only at the end, would there have been any difference in my judgement do you think? No. Everyone judges everything all the time instantaneously - that’s reality and you’re watching a reaction video. It would have made no difference whatsoever. The reason I reacted so quick to Kirk’s solo is because, from the get go, he’s using his same old cliche licks. Actually, no joke, the first notes he hits are the same Dorian bends I’ve heard him do countless times in other solos. Kirk is a great guitarist and I respect him nonetheless. It would just be nice to hear an evolution in his playing.

    Sorry you are so bored with Metallica going back to Metallica roots with a twist. Most people hated when they changed it up. But now people hate them for the wah and the expected this or that.

      I wasn’t bored to be honest. Riffing is great. James’ vocals sound great. The fact they’re putting out new music still is great.

    Spot on about Whammett, his solos are so predictable and unimaginative, the composition and phrasing are so poor, his best stuff was on AJFA over 30 odd years ago.
    Compare Whammett with Rocky George, Alex Skolnick, Marty Friedman, or even Dave Gilmour and Neil Young, he's embarrassing.

    • @SeanBennettGuitar
      @SeanBennettGuitar  Год назад

      Yeah, I mean kudos to Kirk for being in Metallica and all. Like you say though, 30 years ago this type of pentatonic/dorian/blues phrasing, at such a fast tempo, would have still been impressive. I have no beef with pentatonics at all, they're awesome, but the issue now is that every Metallica solo is starting to sound the same and dated. Has Kirk kept himself in a time bubble, or does he think he's top dog and doesn't need to evolve? Has Kirk decided he wants all his solos to be formulaic because, in his mind, this is his iconic sound? Those are the questions I find myself pondering over with all this new Metallica. I have no doubt that this solo would be a blend of takes recorded separately in stages - no judgement. However, you would expect more interesting phrasing if this were the case.
