Schecter Nick Johnston Guitar Review | 2 Year Update and Tone Test!
In this video I review my Schecter Nick Johnston guitar after two years of owning the instrument. This video is obviously not sponsored and so all thoughts are my own (probably goes without saying!).
I honestly don't know what anyone would need from a 'strat' style guitar other than this - let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Best!

Digital vs Tube Amps: Can You Actually Hear the Difference?
Просмотров 368Год назад
🎸 Get Skype guitar lessons with me: patreon.com/seanbennett In this video I present two different mixes - one using a tube amp and the other a digital amp sim on two panned DI guitar takes. I thought this would make for an interesting debate - since we guitarists always claim to be able to hear the natural differences between digital and analogue; however, how much noticeable is it really withi...

🎸 Get Skype guitar lessons with me: patreon.com/seanbennett In this video I review and demonstrate the PRS MT15 tube amplifier head in 2023 - giving a fresh perspective on the product. I thought this review would be insightful since many competitive amplifiers, amp pedals, preamps and digital modellers have been released since then. How does the PRS MT15 hold up against the new competition? Let...

BEST GUITARIST I'VE DISCOVERED IN 2022...
I have the SSS version of that guitar in black. Absolutely amazing!! In my opinion the best guitar by far for under a grand!! 🤘🏻
The adaptation of the riff in the last minute is soooo good 😭🔥4:34 that lick…
I'm sure the multi-millionaire worldwise famous Ed Sheeran will be disappointed you're not a fan.
Drawing the parallels between the 1920’s and the current day political circus that is Trump and MAGA is brilliant!! 🤘🏼👻
This video sold me. I got the blue tidepool jazzmaster one
Congrats!
Hey! Could someone tell me how to adjust the action in this guitar. I find the strings too separated from the fretboard for my taste
Check that the neck is relatively straight first to ensure it’s not a truss rod adjustment that’s needed. Then take a hex key and turn the two hex key inserts on each saddle to lower the strings closer to the fretboard. If the saddles get too low there will be fretbuzz, so try to find a happy medium.
Unsung? It’s one of the most popular ever overdrive pedals of all time
Really? It wasn’t on my radar for a very long time. Nowhere near as famous as tubescreamers or boss pedals etc in my opinion.
The MT15 is on my wish list in late 2024 because after 2 years of playing nothing but plugins, I miss the immediacy & over-all feel of playing a real amp. The lead channel gets pretty close to the heavy rhythm tone I hear in my head & the clean channel sounds amazing as well. I’ll still use plugins, but probably not as much thanks to having a load box/IR loader. I’m also definitely investing in a JHS AT + to give me more Marshall style tones when I want them thanks to your video on it. Cheers! 🍻
Still loving mine too, I bought the SSS as well. I play them môre than my Heritage guitars.
i have yet to hear a good amp sim pedal..this one failed also
Would you recommend this unit over amp modeler like the Dream 65 , etc . I have a Tone King Gremlin 5 watt amp that I’m not able to crank and play because I don’t want to wake up the kids/wife .
Amp snobbery! Oh my😮.I run my stomp in 4cm through the fx loop it sounds great for lead guitar but you do need to have the right overdrives/boost, to get you there. I'm running into a Two notes Captor-x attenuator and stereo cab sims out to FOH makes this set up a powerhouse of tone!
What tool comes with it to tighten it up?
Comes with a set of allen keys in a plastic sleeve. One of them is to tighten the tremolo bar to the bridge.
its not stainless steel frets right? how was it holding up until now? do they have like a sandpaper feel or sound when youre bending the strings? and do they have string marks already? thanks man! I have watched all your videos regarding this guitar and planning to buy one or the mv-6
I don't think they're stainless steel as I can't find the information online what the frets are made of; however, the frets feel completely fine to me and are comfortable. There's no issues with the feel or sound when bending strings - in fact, bending strings is a breeze and I love how flat the neck feels. Frets aren't wearing any faster than on my other guitars. I have a review coming up soon of the MV-6 and it sadly turned out to be a completely disappointing guitar. The Schecter Nick Johnston is much better. Thanks for watching my videos!
@@SeanBennettGuitar wow thanks for the heads up. will wait for that one to be uploaded!
Yes good honest review. The volume knob on mine is disappointing.
Cool tone. How did you achieve it?
PRSMT15 + TS mini + Suhr Reactive Load into the iMovie medium room
@@SeanBennettGuitar thanks for the feedback. Really awesome tone and playing. I bought an Ibanez RG550 and have a slight tentation to change pickups.
@@biohazard8295 thanks! Yeah the Ibanez pickups are a bit hit and miss sometimes, so don’t blame you. What did you end up updating your pickups to?
I wish you used the whammy bar to show stability
Pretty sure I used it in other reviews I did
If you were just in the process of discovering Bruce (The Boss) Springsteen a year ago when you made this reaction video, I hope you've had a chance to enter the biggest rabbit hole in the whole of rock music, which is Bruces incredible songbook, spanning 50 years and hundreds, yes HUNDREDS of magical and iconic songs, covering a number of different genre's. There's a very good reason people refer to Bruce as 'The Boss' and hopefully you've discovered that for yourself by now. Cheers Sean! 🙋♂
I find it has sufficient low end through a 412. Man i think for live use, i want to use an amp every time. I'm not against modelers, i just don't think they have it yet. It amazes me the amount of young players that have been playing for years and never played through a tube amp. I'll never forget my first tube amp experience. It was through my JVM. It was a religious experience
The color combo from body, to fretboard, to headstock is awesome. I need to get a Schecter to review, one of my viewers raves about them so much it peeks my curiosity
Such a great bass. My only gripe is that matte really shows sweaty hands.... Hahaha
I love the pick also.....
Funny you compared just the boost as a TS... I said this very thing yesterday.
Cara que timbre! O que vc tá usando além da guita?
Thanks! Wish I could remember to be honest. Probably the PRS MT15 into a Suhr Reactive Load IR. Reverb is the medium hall setting in iMovie funnily enough.
I think Fender needs to pay you for this one- you've basically convinced me that these can rock out with playing skills and equipment!!!
Hahaha thanks!
Love this, what a machine. Only heard good. Also, I think this is the same background song from 2 years ago, whats it called!?
Thanks! It's a track I made for behind my RUclips videos. It doesn't has a name 😊
@@SeanBennettGuitaroh wow even more impressive, reminds me of a game called Snowrunner when you’re in the menus. What would you call the genre so I can find more? Or can you put it on Spotify for me 😂😅
Nice 👌 Ambient guitar I guess!
Great video, looking at picking this exact one up. Could you please tell me the swampy guitar song name in the background, it was so good!
I’ve bought and sold the Morning Glory 3-4 times now and every time I regret it, and end up just buying one again, and recently have again, for the last time I hope lol! It’s just that good, and really useful. It’s even one of Josh Scott’s ‘only choose 3 pedals for the rest of your life’ choices, and he has hundreds of pedals to choose from, so that tells you right there. They are a great pedal.
The JHS MG has also been great for filling in the mids on mid lacking amps for me - making it much easier to hear myself live. I also love the subtle compression it adds on an otherwise spiky clean sound.
Do u know what fuzz pedals are best for that tone?
I think it was a fuzz inside Rabea Massad's Neural DSP plugin. It definitely wasn't a physical fuzz pedal because I don't own one.
@@SeanBennettGuitar Ahh okay thankyou 👍🏻 really nice tone though
From my understanding is that Tim is both master at using the technology writing and producing as well as performing live. The computing power is now capable process sounds live on stage.
Man 😂😂😂😂
😅
So pentatonic in that run bending the 7 to the 9 and then pivoting on that 7 to start the descending run down. I think. Nice!!!
I guess so! I do these shorts as random usually.
@@SeanBennettGuitar very nice
Ignore the hate man, this was very nicely done. As someone who practices very similar licks I know how damn hard it is to get it sounding smooth with no distortion. And I checked out some of your other stuff, you can fucking play!
Thanks! 😊
You should probably try it with an eminence cannabis Rex, even if I have to say I don’t find it so trebly.
I ended up selling the MT15 at the end of last year. Just couldn't get along with the lead tone.
the "real thing" has more dynamic in there and stand out in the mix better tbh
Your playing is really good! It showcases this amp perfectly! Thinking about getting this, mainly for recording, apartment use What amp you generally go for in a lead tone?
Thanks! Not using any amps for lead tones at the minute - just the JHS AT+ pedal into a clean platform.
I live in a one bdrm Apt above a restaurant even at 7.5 watts it's pretty freaking loud! I'm still running a Two notes captor x attenuator at medium range on the captor x and it's manageable while getting you to that sweet spot that would otherwise be blowing your ears out @ earbleed volumes at a manageable bedroom levels on the MT15.
love your honesty. please keep it up
Thanks! Lots of people watching my videos hate the honesty 🤣
Не экономьте,купите ВТВ серию,этот бас как Cort,только дороже за надпись Ibanez.
I have one. It's awesome, and basically fills any distortion need I may have.
very very detail~!!!!
Thanks!
That's the perfect guitar lesson! Thank you.
You're very welcome!
I’ve had it for about a month. The basic clean sound is great. Reverb is good but a little too bright. The tremolo sounds awesome… but … I HATE that the controls are hidden. They should be on the pedal like a real Fender amp. As a result I don’t use the tremolo. Instead I have a dedicated tremolo pedal. I wish the two switches were BOTH for presets. I’m constantly fiddling and losing my base tone.
Use the app, you can make it so each switch is a different tone.
I really wanted to love it. It has too much flappy low and Bass I could not dial out. I couldn’t hear it out of the guitar speaker standing in front of the amp, but I could hear it coming out of the PA and in my iem’s. Back to the store it goes. I tried using EQ after the fact, And I also use 2 Amps, one is miked up, the other uses a cab simulator. If it had a bass knob on it, I probably would’ve kept it. EQ after the fact with the PA affected my overall tone too much, and I’m not interested in running an EQ pedal along with it just to get what I needed. Maybe I’ll try the angry Charlie.
I know what you mean. For me it’s a lead pedal only, and that’s it. Anytime I try to do rhythm on the AT+, it’s too muddy. But then again I bought it for a lead tone only, so it doesn’t bother me too much. I’d rather have a pedal that’s great for one thing, than average at everything 😊 for me rhythm is from the amp, lead is from the AT+
actually, the boost is a ts-808. Josh got Andy's ts-808, fixed gain and tone settings e did the boost
I really wished that it could be possible to like this video more than once.
Thanks for the kind words!
Necesito la guia :'"u
I bought all three pedals in this series and I don't use them as the hissing noise etc they make is fairly sh1t...I go direct into the front of my amp and have also tried them through the send and return at the back of my Runt 20 combo amp.
nah man, he cant play shit live.., even an grade schooler prom performance are more interesting than watching ichika nito live..dude doesnt even try atleast play 1 songs atleast 1 of his original composition like what he does in his videos even he got backing track but his guitar tone sounds unmatch and wtf man.. he should have played guitar dj rather than being like this.. imo only polyphia tim henson is the real banger who shows that he can perform his shit with band and backing tracks.. but ichika.. im dissapointed tbh..nobody asked him to play fast bpm music..he cant even nailed a moderate one too. sounds like amature covering ichika nito but ironically it was himself.
The maestro
I got a 10 way switch installed... game changer!!!!
