Was there in 2009 it looks great still when you come in the front door. I recall girls who operated the elevators for you and were always so polite. The culture in Japan was very impressive as the people were very respectful of one another and visitors.
That's the thing about Japan, the service is always great, no matter what the star rating of the hotel. Makes one wonder why people of other cultures are not as civilized (as a general rule).
The last time i was here was in 2007, i recall there are always girls in kimonos standing stationed in front of the access corridors to my room. They always greeted me and bow before and after i swipe the access card to the glass doors. Did they get rid of those? What a loss.
While it is an excellent hotel on the site of the original, the new place has that late 1960's Japanese modern aesthetic which can be a bit "glossy" compared to more modern places in Tokyo which are warm with lots of wood and inviting such as the Park Hyatt which even itself is starting to show its age.
Kalo itu kurang jelas ya tapi di wikipedia ada tertulis ini: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dewi_Sukarno The 19-year-old Naoko Nemoto met the 57-year-old Sukarno at the Ginza hostess bar in Tokyo, near the Imperial Hotel. She was an arts student and entertainer,[1] he was on a state visit to Japan. Naoko married Sukarno in Indonesia in 1962 and converted to Islam and Sukarno gave her the Indonesian name Ratna Sari Dewi Sukarno; derived from Javanese-Sanskrit which means "the jewel essence of a goddess".
Stayed at Imperial many times. A true 5 Star experience.
Was here in the 80s, when I was a kid. Good memories...

そろそろ建て替え閉館でしたっけ?
They are renovating first the tower then the main building. Additionally, ownership group purchase the buildings next to the Imperial to be rentals.
compared to FLW building this pile of architecture looks like a fcking shopping mall
I`m going to meet Yul Brynner
