This guy completely shifts the idea from them as bounty hunters going after someone, to them being hunted. Good thing he was the only threat of this level that they ever had to face. The aesthetic of this episode will never be matched in any other anime 🔥
wdym
yup
One of my favorite episodes ever, crazy from beginning
Yeah. This really captured the disturbing aesthetic of what 90s anime set in its era. Unmatched
Technicaly, both where hunting each others, Spike wanted revanche , he was not forced to come face pierro, he wanted a rematch
I felt really bad for Pierrot when he went down. He went from a crazed & dangerous person to a crying child and then he was gone. It was so sad.
Frrrrrr.
And he went out in the most brutal way possible. Savage
Thank goodness I'm not the only one, those VA's can give so much emotion
He was a broken child on the inside despite being a middle age man on the inside he was a scared kid
I think he had a "blue velvet" eerie vibe
The fights in Cowboy Bebop are incredible, the animation is still of high quality, one of the best anime series.
If not the best.
u guys enjoying all this!
@@heavyweighta29 pretty sure it is
THE best anime series
@@tempest_2222 literally
To this day (and I speak at the age of 28), the death of the pierrot has to be one of the most unsettling scenes in media. He goes from being a psychotic murderer to being a tortured child calling for his mother in an instant; and, rather than being given the care and attention he needed, his cries for help were callously silenced forever (unironically by a representation of the innocence that was stolen from him).
I know he's supposed to be an awfully deranged human that's out to get our lovable protagonist, but I cant help but feel that this was a gut-wrenching mercy killing.
In the span of 3 minutes of screen time i said "wow what a psychopath, oh god what happened to you? OH, OH GOD"
monster aren't born they're made
"Baby want Blue Velvet"
David Lynch has a couple words for ya...
Yeah it really is a scene that goes from insanely tense to unsettlingly sad
@@USSAnimeNCC- Some are made, some are born
“Spike! Listen! i figured out what he is! He’s a-“
“Forget it… I don’t need the info anymore…”
Likely he's about to inform it's cats and he's psychologically undeveloped.
This is one of the best fights in the show. I love how wacky it gets while also being downright disturbing at times.
how so
@@lucaswallo8127 The wackiness comes from the fight being at an amusement park. Sadly, the Pierrot has a pretty dark backstory with him being experimented on, hence his fear of cats because there was one at the lab.
I really like the part where Faye crashes and tge doll keeps saying “hello” to her then she playfully responds back with “hello” XD
@@ade1174 I wouldn’t say he fears cats but he more so gets PTSD from the flashbacks he gets when seeing a cat. He becomes fearful and paranoid like how he was when he was experimented on and he instinctively wants to escape from his deranged trauma when it resurfaces in his head
Just gotta love how that insanely fast sequence of shots of medical experiments established Pierrot's background. We don't get much detail, but we understand that what has been done to Pierrot was utterly inhumane and made him what he is.
I like how they portrayed his trauma. A deep, deep , deeeep fear that shook him to his very core. Everything he was unraveled in an instant. There's no such thing as a perfect killer.
This episode is so heavy. I can't describe, just by only one word "heavy". It has similar feeling to the last episode. I-i just love this anime so much!
For 1999 this animation is better then some anime we see today.
Good artwork is timeless.
It's a more well crafted work of art than anything we see today. What even compares?
Love how people talk about the 90's like they happened 500 years ago lol
Cowboy Bebop truly is a unique experience. Every session unlike another, together they breathe life into a whole world while simultaneously always being about the people in it. So many years have passed, and the 'space jazz' still is unmatched. The mourning bluesy episodes, gutwrenching horrible scenes, great humour, philosophical and poetic moments, and of course, the grandure of honour and the song to all true warriors: Space lion
You can see in the stand off how peirriot was reminded of the cats fake eye when he saw spikes fake eye reflect the light in the same way. I love how good that scene is and none of us even knew spike had the fake eye back then.
The fake eye was spoiled for me before I even began episode 1, and I didn’t even know this detail until i find your comment pointing it out!
I think Pierrot is the only villain in the series that Spike was genuinely afraid of
Didn't you see how their first encounter went down? Who wouldn't be afraid?
This episode is nightmare fuel.
The anime that I can never get tired of rewatching all over again.
Spike looks at the flattened Pierrot and wonders...who was that guy (Pierrot's cries for his mommy still ringing in Spikes head)?
He's another government failed experiment...just like you Spike.
Cowboy Bebop is so good its not even fair. The characters, stories, music, sound design, atmosphere, animation. Its a work of art. Very few anime come close to it.
Honestly, Pierrot's death was very sad. He was a victim of so much tortures and abuse, and his mind was like froma child. He suffered a lot
You know it's a good fight when more than 1 or 2 minutes of it were uploaded. Man, I really should watch this again.
You know the whole thing went effed up as soon as you hear Pierrot say......
Hello boooyyyyyy.....
1:07 the terror in his voice is haunting. Those screams and the flashbacks make me feel so bad for him, even considering that he's some kind of genetically modified psychopathic killer.
0:05 Japanese is such a magical language, I wish I spoke it!
Thank goodness for subtitles!
This is quite possibly my favorite episode in the series. It shows a drastic change from these people trying to make a living to a guy trying to stay alive. It shows the extent to which our hero can go without being damaged and just how far he can be chased and hunted without dying. It shows his determination and pure skill. The fact that this episode exists is a true testament to how amazing of a show Cowboy Bebop is
Pierrot is one of the scariest villains in cowboy bebop
I honestly think the English voice acting is 100 times better
personal preference
The teeth grinding and cracking is so unsettling, genius move by the animators, adds an extra layer of creepiness to Perroit.
I was there, watching this episode back when it was new. And believe me, no anime had terrified me as much as this one episode did 😨
Mad Pierrot having a fear of cats, fighting Spike who said he was the tiger-striped cat that lived a million lives from his story.
one of the most dangerous men in the show is nothing more but a hurt child in the inside .. maybe the writers wanted to say that those who had been hurt as kids or had rough childhood can turn to be very dangerous ?
this anime is a tremendous work of art
This literally was such an amazing episode when I first watched it, the ominous carnival music after getting crushed to death it's so beautifully brutal
That is literally the first scene I have seen of Cowboy Bebop after that I watched the full series.
this scene from 2:08 to 2:49 definitely broke my heart
You know, I wouldn't use the term "dark" to describe the atmosphere of this whole episode, more "grim".
The backstory, the cat, the colored dancing parade approaching in the backround, it has a lot of striking nightmare imagery which also looks amazing.
I think the most disturbing thing about this whole episode is how Spike reacts to the fight. He's visibly in terror in a few shots which is very rare for him. This is more an episode about fear if anything.
The scariest part of it is the dry clinic experiment portion of the flashbacks. IIRC his flashback is in 2022 and his augments are based on mrna injections. It literally says mrna in the stills.
His detailed teeth unsettled me when I first saw this
It's the noise his teeth make that make me wince. He's gritting them so tightly you can hear them strain under the pressure.
Dub>sub for cowboy bebop
Esse episódio me pegou de surpresa, velho, que bizarro e insano. Começa tudo diferente e pela primeira vez, vejo o Spike com medo e sendo caçado contra um oponente que ele mal pode atingir.
The nostalgia just hit like a freight train seeing this scene uploaded😭❤ hands down one of the most memorable and also the most disturbing Cowboy Bebop episode ever😖 lowkey had nightmares during my middle school years after watching this😅
This scene still gives me chills
2:38. And just like that, it doesn’t hurt anymore…
You know it’s bad when Spike is scared and upstaged. He’s faced death but not like this.
This episode was like a fever dream
Literally just watched this anime for the first time yesterday. Tripping me out that there's a clip all the sudden
It took me my 3rd rewatch of Bebop to realize that it was Spike's prosthetic eye that freaked him out at the end
This fight scene was so amazing when I first watched it the animation was TOP TIER crunchyroll is goated for posting this🔥🔥🔥
Certified classic. I've watched this show start to finish, many times.
Just finished cowboy bebop. This dude was INSANE!!
Pierrot grinding his teeth is always reminding me of why I can't stand asmr.
Not going to lie, one thing i never got about this scene. Was why was the Parade not program to stop? Like sure all these characters are robots. but if someone got Stomped on or trampled that would be a massive lawsuit. Hell the feet should have built in cameras to know where exactly they are pressing down on. Just to avoid any small child walking into the street and geting smashed.
Granted it would wreck his death and the unsettling nature of it. But ehh still a bit of a plot hole.
That's a fair point, but A. this was made before all the modern day safety features of cars and other technology that do the same thing and B. Well... that could be the reason it was shut down and abandoned lol
Remember kids. You need to appreciate the classics!
2:43 And it didn't hurt anymore... 😢
This scene really says a lot about these 2 and their relationship. Even though they get on each others nerves and act like they don’t care, they’re still there for each other and have one another’s back
I've wanted to watch Cowboy Bepop for awhile mainly cause Spike is like husbando material 😅
Understandable. Spike is a chad.
This amazing classic is beyond words about how great it is.
It makes sense in a cosmic sort of way that Perriot, a feline-phobic, would cross paths with Spike AKA “The Tiger Striped Cat.”
i still don't understand why a theme park called Space Land isn't space themed.
Man, Akiyama is just having the WORST day! But then again a crazy RPG blasting clown man is pretty mundane in Kamurocho.
dude pierrot's VA is amazing, i was legit mortified while listening to his whails
This episode scared me real bad. And I still skip it to this day.
It's crazy how well this holds up.
I found out the people that animated Full Metal Alchemist made this, suddenly it all made sense
The first time I watched this episode I was only 7 years old, man. 'Till this very same day I remember it so vividly, the screams of Pierrot le Fou in his last moments are gonna be bury in my freakin' soul for the rest of my life. What a great and unsettling episode it was!
One of the greatest episodes ever...
GOATed anime fight, had me bricked up
🤨
@@illquanbenjamin6182 🤭🤭
The episode where bebop went from really good .... to masterpiece
Very different episode for cowboy probably the one I think about the most too
This was the worst episode of the series and the only one I didn't enjoy. It provided no substantial value to me from both an entertaining standpoint and a substance standpoint.
This was my first CB episode I watched as a kid on TV. I simply couldnt believe how well animated it was compared to other popular shows.
One word: masterpiece. 😎
This was my first introductory to Cowboy Bebop. The atmosphere in the beginning being so dark and eerie that it brings dread when I first saw Pierrot.
Some of the worst monsters are the ones who are only children on the inside
Me after I first watched episode:
*_"What am I supposed to feel?????"_*
No but fr Pierrot was too powerful to be left alive for this show
This whole episode was insanely trippy.
Everything in this episode is amazing but good god, the sound design is insane
Spike is one of my favorite anime characters
His end Kind of reminds me of Yoshikage Kira's death. (Jojo Part 4 Main Villain)
Still my favorite anime to date and one of the few animes where I prefer the English voice actors.
Did the live action show really just copy paste from the anime? This is the exact episode except with dogs
I forgot how unsettling this episode was ☠️☠️
I started rewatching this masterpiece of an anime a few days ago, watched this ep just a few hours before this vid was posted. Perfect timing Crunchyroll ✨
Still doesn’t understand why his magnetic shield didn’t worked against the knife can someone explain pls ?
too bad spike is DEAD at the end
That's more or less open to interpretation.
I'm a simple man I see cowboy Bebop I watch it!
Spike Spiegel for Death Battle Who’s a good opponent for him?
The scrap between spike and pierrot began with spike in the water and ended with spike in the water. Just an observation one might miss the first few times of watching this episode.
Man Cowboy Bebop without context is a trip
Classic
Ingenious capture of PTSD.
I've never seen cowboy bebop so crisp and hd
One thing I don't understand is how he flies around like that
The most egregious thing the live-action adaptation did (besides existing) was turning the Space Land set into a cheap PVC scaffolding structure with a carousel and making Mad Pierrot look like a dude in a Halloween costume with white make-up. Completely unforgivable disrespect to the source material.
This episode was wild the villain was terrifying
The fact Spike of all people was speechless is crazy
Pierrot is one of the rare villains who is worth pitying. Passed inhuman experience in the laboratory ISSP. Developmentally, he is still a small child.
2:46 There are neon crosses in the background, I wonder why the animators put those in there? There no religious themes to this episode, unless you really stretch that definition.
Awesome. I really do enjoy me some Cowboy Bebop. Pierrot really is such an interesting character with what he went through. Also how he died always seemed to be quite disturbing to me.
Spike really was lucky Pierrot wasn’t as self aware as he was dangerous. Otherwise he would have ended him
Season 2 please
Easily the most disturbing episode of Cowboy Bebop, including the finale, the one with the fridge, and the internet cult.
Me watching this for the first time: well…I’m emotionally scarred in a strange way now.
