      Top 3 bell-housing bolts easy to get too by laying on motor and reaching down with a ratchet wrench. Youre right about the bolts having a nut. THe nut is most often smaller than the bellhousing bolt. PITA!

    • @fuqutube
      @fuqutube 4 года назад +1

      The shift selector shaft does have to be filed before removal. The cause is the nut actually mushrooms the shaft and that is what damages the electronic compontnts of the shift selector. Great video bro!

      I am having the same weird problem with starters on my 99 suburban!! I have replaced the starter 4 times because the outside of the drive gear gets eaten away and it quits making contact with the flywheel. The flywheel is damaged some on the engine side but the starter is not fully engaging. Its after midnight here but in the morning Im going to check and see if the flex plate is on backwards. Ill bet it is. Thanks a million. Ill let you know what I find.

    Across the years I have looked at a lot of mechanic videos. This mechanic is without a doubt one of the most diligent, thoughtful and caring people I have encountered anywhere. I pray his continued success as he is a blessing to anyone with an open mind & willing heart. He gets a solid 10 out of 10 from me.

    I've been building transmissions for years and one of the transmissions I hate doing an R&R on is 4X4 4L60E you have there. Don't forget to blow the old fluid out of your radiator cooler, then use brake parts cleaner to flush it clean. Good video dude.

    I just did this job on my 2005 Tahoe. I found the biggest helps to be to remove the intake for top access. Also, you can remove the transmission mount and then using the tranny jack, tilt the transmission back. This give you a lot more access to the top bell housing bolts, whether taking them off, or torquing them back on. Tilting the tranny back is probably the best help.

    You probably figured out by now how to get the neutral safety switch mechanism off with out ruining it. You have to lightly file the shaft it is mushroomed. If you need a visual look up a utuber called transmission bench. Great information bro I would have messed mine up had I not watched your video because the next videos in the list lead me to the transmission bench video.

  • @brookemcquale5096
    @brookemcquale5096 3 года назад

    In another video, the mechanic used a heat gun to warm up the glue on the neutral safety switch. I timed it and he held it about an inch or two from the connectors for about 15-20 seconds and it worked very well. You don't want to use a hairdryer unless you don't mind being there for a while. Also, spraying some PB rust blaster on the selector shaft works well. Spray some on and go do something else for a while and then come back and try it.

    I’m trying for the first time to do a transmission swap. My truck just doesn’t go in reverse but goes forward. Your video is gonna help lots. I have a question about the neutral safety switch. Can I convert my 2003 neutral safety switch to an 05? I noticed there’s two different color wires. Would that be a reason for no reverse? I’m doing it all at my house and I’m pretty set on tools. I’m not a mechanic but I can build you 350 unit apartments in 6 months. I’ve changed parts in a f250 and in my Chevy avalanche and I feel I can change the Transmission but if you have any idea what my problem could be I sure would appreciate your advice and some knowledge

    Hey man question . When taking the transmission off do I also need to take the 3 torque convertor bolts ?

    • @RedemptionGarage
      @RedemptionGarage  4 года назад +3

      Yes you do because the torque converter is attached to the flex plate so unless you remove those bolts it will not come out. Well it will come out if you pull the transmission back but you DO NOT want to do that. So take the bolts off and be careful when pulling transmission down because if you tilt it forward the torque converter will fall out of the transmission.

    Man, I gotta tell ya... I found some aftermarket quick-connect adapters, for the cooling lines, and put them in... foolish move.. Later, when trans is all up and bolted in, the dang lines would, IN NO WAY... plug into these adapters. I removed them and compared them to the OEM adapters. They were about 0.010" smaller inside diameter, and even with the clip removed, the line could not be pushed into the undersized bore of the adapter... I kid you not... so, beware of those dang bogus aftermarket adapters...

Says it's a 1 year only transmission. I called all the transmission shops here as well and they wouldn't give me a answer why I'm being told this for the 2002 trucks and SUVs. Did the 2004 transmission end up working properly after you installed it in your 02 suburban?
