Thank you for sharing all these tutorials Nick! Not a graphic designer or an artist, I've only started casually puttering about with GIMP -- finding this channel by accident was a lucky break, an inspiration to keep learning and try harder.
The best "glossy" effect I've seen yet. The final "shine 2" layer really adds the finishing touch. Good Job. I already had a black background so I skipped the shadow layer.
I noticed that you have your OBS icon in the taskbar. I believe that if you check your settings in OBS you can find some options to minimise the icon to the tray instead of the taskbar. I find that it frees up space and looks nicer. BTW, great tutorials! You're probably the only RUclipsr I've found that actually has good tutorials for Gimp and Inkscape. You're also one of the only RUclipsrs I've found that has lots of subscribers and actually interacts with them! ;)
Nick. I just purchased your Building a Logo book. Thank you for all of this great content, and an excellent discount code, that pushed me over the hump of decision making
The water drop from the g'mic plugins suite can add a highlight using the option contour to shape in the plugin , put the shadows to zero and have a multi layer spectacular highlight for that glossy look if set refraction to 1.86 , can change the angle and use it on multiple layer shapes too for vector logos and text
Another creative tutorial, but I too miss that catchy introduction. You inspire creativity that I never knew I had. Thank you for the awe inspiring videos.
Hey Nick. First of all I would like to thank you for all your amazing videos, really does help a lot. So I tried to do this twice but it's just turning out to be horrible. Everything seems to be right except the colour after using the ellipse tool, it's sort of violet-ish rather than blueish. Apart from that things seem to be right. Thanks a lot!
Hello thank's for all of your tutorial. I am malagasy and i have no money to pay a cours to learn gimp and inkscap so i follow you to learn. So thank you very much. If you have time could you do a flyers or a poster using gimp please. Thank's for all
Thank you! I learned something new. By the way Nick, few days ago i went through your gimp tutorial playlist and noticed that 3 - 4 videos are set to private, i wonder what kinda tutorials those are that you hide.
One question about logos! Ive just started my youtube channel and you can (if you click on my name and look at my profilepick and my title) that im not the profi @ creating logos. So If I need a RUclips logo can I buy it from your website? Or do u know anyone else doing youtube logos ? :)
Yeah I've created logos for RUclipsrs as well. Just fill out the design request form on my website and I'll be in touch within 24 hours. If you already did, I'll be in touch in just a little while. Didn't get to my inbox yet this morning :)
Yeah you can do that. But creating another layer for drop shadow gives you more control over it's horizontal and vertical axis. You can adjust it just by moving the layer until it fits perfectly with your design. But with filters, you have to play with different values which I think is hectic.
You move much to fast to follow - slow down, this isn't a race to see how fast you can finish - not helpful at all - certainly not your best work - you wasted my time.
Thank you so much! I have watched so many tutorials that didn't show these easy steps. LEGEND!
I did two practice runs using this and I think both look awesome! I can't wait to add these into my Gimp projects.
Dude that Text tutorial is awesome and easy to follow. Thank you very much!

Thank you so much! My new book cover is looking pretty awesome with the glossy effect text

Hi Nick can you please tell how long in average does it take somebody to get this good?
It's different for everyone and depends on how much time you put in.
Thank you! I learned something new.
By the way Nick, few days ago i went through your gimp tutorial playlist and noticed that 3 - 4 videos are set to private, i wonder what kinda tutorials those are that you hide.
Hmm I don't think I have any GIMP videos hidden. I know I have a few Inkscape videos set to private, but not GIMP as far as I remember.
ah, my bad that is in inkscape playlist. I confused myself :D
LOVE, THANK YOU MAN
Awesome. Thanks

Wow this is very impressive i am a beginner this was too advance for me i feel.
PLease teach making ad banner s with gimp.. thank you so much
Does the crown molding gradient effect exist in gimp 2.10?
Yes.
Instead of the black layer for the drop shadow, couldn't you save a few steps and use the drop shadow tool (filters>light and shadow>drop shadow)
you think he does not know that? there is reason why he did it.
Dont have to be so agressive,I didnt mean it as an attack, it was just a thought to save time. geez
Yeah you can do that. But creating another layer for drop shadow gives you more control over it's horizontal and vertical axis. You can adjust it just by moving the layer until it fits perfectly with your design. But with filters, you have to play with different values which I think is hectic.
Yes that would work as well, but creating it manually gives you more control over its appearance.
hey nick do cartoon portrait in inkscape

Why do you delete the text layer?
