Hey nick, I started using GIMP recently. Am an absolute beginner in any design or editing related fields, and I want to thank you for your absolutely well done tutorials. By far, yours is the only tutorial I will visit on YT. Clear presentation, very easy to follow and it's very friendly from a beginner's perspective to pick up the various knowledge. Thank you very much. Please keep up the good work and we're looking forward to more of your tutorials! Cheers.
Well done, easily explained tutorials. You make great content for people who are venturing into the land of open-source design work. Appreciate it a lot.
I can't get over how phenomenal your tutorials are. You have been a life saver for me. I'm definitely considering purchasing your tutorials via your website. Great work!
Thanks for these vids Nick! Transitioning away from Adobe products (which I've used for years), your tutorials help make that a reality quickly. Much respect!!
Great tutorial as always Nick.... thank you very much. You can move multiple cutout paths at once also. Instead of floating one piece at a time, after you close out one path, you can hold shift and trace out a new selection area with the paths tool....and both paths will act as one You can even do more if you repeat the hold shift and make a new path...Any transformation etc you do to one will be applied to all. I like your method though...I understand why you did it this way as well. and I'm learning alot from your tutorials
Question: How much would you charge to create thumbnails for my videos? Not sure if you are available but thought i would ask. Do you do any video editing? Awesome work my friend, I'm amazed at your skill!
Nick amazing work so far love the tutorials but I have to ask how to superimpose let's say a flag onto an existing object in the current build of gimp thanks in advance for any advice
Yes, similar in some ways, but introduces some new techniques. Wax seal is a great idea! I'll see about doing something like that with either Inkscape or GIMP.
I would prefer Gimp, but not being choosy. Love these videos. One thing I wish you could do is explain THE WHY of what you are doing. I can follow your tutorials really well, but at times (many times) I don't totally understand the WHY. If you could briefly explain the WHY's at times I think more of us would understand the thought process.
Thanks for another great tutorial, Nick. I just bought your 150 logos through your website, and I just want to suggest that you maybe point more easily to the offer somewhere in your website's navigation. Maybe I overlooked the link, but I ended up using your search and only finding it because I remembered the number 150 that I had seen somewhere.
why did you use the path tool to later create a selection from it instead of just using the lasso tool? like, is there a reason or is it just preference?
The unified transform tool isn't on my gimp program for some reason just says cage transform & shift L doesn't do anything either could you help me please?
Logos By Nick You use Inksacpe for design purpose, Audacity for audio and I don't know where but read that you also use Blender for video editing. Well you've earned yourself OPEN SOURCE GEEK OF THE DECADE. Congrats.👍😀
could you do a tutorial on how to make a logo with rips through the logo? I'm having trouble making that kind of logo using gimp on linxus and using a png image.
I don't have an immediate use for this particular effect, but every video I watch from Logos By Nick teaches me a little more about using GIMP tools! #ThriftyAV
Not even watched the video but still commenting on how awesome it is !
Nice work nick!
Thank you

Sorry about that, just added it to the description. Here it is: logosbynick.com/gimp-shattered-text-tutorial/
I love your tutorials....
Awesome work Nick. I hope you can make a knitted effect tutorial some day. Like the ones used on ugly Christmas sweaters. (On inkscape or gimp)

thanks for helping a newbie out
Thank you so much the best tutor ever💙💙💙💙
Wow. So cool and clean. I really wish more people get turned onto Inkscape and gimp and away from the Adobe monopoly. I salute you!

Hello Nick, I want to ask a beginner question: Is it necessary to re-install dark skin every update? Thanks before 😊
The dark interface is already included in GIMP since update 2.10
@@SL-ex3uz oh, thank you for the answer 😀
+Durio sp No problem, man!
One like for Nick :)
You are as good too.
THANK YOU SIR
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Nick amazing work so far love the tutorials but I have to ask how to superimpose let's say a flag onto an existing object in the current build of gimp thanks in advance for any advice
You are a Boss !
Great tutorial! Why do you use "paths"tool instead of the "free select" tool when moving parts of the letters? Is there any benefits from doing that?
No advantage in particular. I just wanted those sharp-looking hard edges to get that broken glass look.
Great video. I don't understand why I don't have all the tools on my Gimp? I am working on Linux mint.
This one looks similar to exploding text effect. :)
Nick, would you consider making "wax seal" logo?
Yes, similar in some ways, but introduces some new techniques. Wax seal is a great idea! I'll see about doing something like that with either Inkscape or GIMP.
yes, either way will be fine. : )

Brilliant
Following this tutorial to a tee and can't seem to find the merge down as im seeing different when i right click. Any advice?
what is the gimp version u were using in this video?
Goood job m’y friend ! From Belgium
whats the difference between starting with a black background and starting with a transparent background and then filling it with black?
why did you use the path tool to later create a selection from it instead of just using the lasso tool? like, is there a reason or is it just preference?
Just preference. Either tool will work.
@@LogosByNick oh ok thank you :)
The unified transform tool isn't on my gimp program for some reason just says cage transform & shift L doesn't do anything either could you help me please?
what kind of audio input method you use for your videos. like mic, software etc..
keep up the good work.👍
I use a Blue Yeti microphone and I clean up the audio with Audacity

Congrats.👍😀
yeah u still the best
why does it say 'clicking here does nothing, try clicking on path elements' when i try to do the cutout bit
Good tutorial, you should probably put some music in the time lapse clip.
could you do a tutorial on how to make a logo with rips through the logo? I'm having trouble making that kind of logo using gimp on linxus and using a png image.
HI NICK, I WOULD LIKE YOU TO MAKE A VIDEO ON DESIGNING A BUSINESS CARD
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease do a tutorial on how to create a see through glass texture. I need a glass texture for a product I'm currently working on.
I don't have an immediate use for this particular effect, but every video I watch from Logos By Nick teaches me a little more about using GIMP tools! #ThriftyAV
That's the idea :) To learn the techniques even if you don't have an immediate use for the design
float is greyed out for me, il keep trying with the path tool
How do you make the icons on the bar to the left so big?
can we use this design in tshirt printing with same dimension
Pls help when I press the unified transform tool nothing happens ! 😣
Double check to make sure you have the correct layer selected.
