Wow I missed that. She seemed stuck on 700K+ for a while and then crept slowly up to 900K, over 2 or 3 years, so must have had a little surge recently.
Savor the moment, and you will always remember it, just as those who watched and listened will remember. Most people freeze at the thought of speaking in public. You are confident enough to step on stage and actually play guitar. The more you play the easier it gets. Rock on , sister!
Congrats on the 1M. Wasn't that long ago 1K seemed a stretch. So lesson to take away. Glam up for all concerts etc and assume you will play. Better overlooked than unprepared. Don't be shy about saying to the audience that you were pulled up unexpectedly. You will learn the most from the bad nights. The best bands constantly watch each other. Amateurs practice till they get it right. Professionals practice till they can't get it wrong.
The more you play guitar live on stage and standing the more you will develop live skills and the confidence of playing live if you get a chance to play guitar with a number of bands and start a band serving the music you will enjoy your career a lot
There is nothing more intense and exhilarating as playing on stage the first time. (Or being shot at and missed as Winston Churchill says but I never had that chance) It is the best drug in the World. I will never forget our first show and we were just in high school playing a hospice benefit. I can still feel the adrenaline after all of these years. Never forget

I think it IS about changing into a different person. I spent decades as a guitarist with no need for a microphone. That was a mistake. Turns out I sang better than all of them. Some of my counterparts should’ve never been on a stage. You have talent. Don’t shy away. You are an icon. We’ve seen your confidence grow. We’re delighted with it.
You're a real good player. Just realizing that is often the hardest part for artistic people. You're getting the gear you want so just keep practicing and creating every chance you get. Those are just thoughts off the top of my head. :-)

As you improve as a guitarist your confidence keeps on growing. I saw you play some Hendrix the other day, I think it was Purple Haze and your vibrato and intonation on your bends had improved considerably in just a few months, you really smashed it. At nearly 65 now I really struggle to play most things as good as when I was a youngster . Just play for your self and love what you do and the rest will come naturally. I watched the amazing street guitarist Damian Salazar playing Zombie by the Cranberries the other day and he just plays for the love of playing. That's the key.

Bad gigs are just paying your dues. Even the greats went through shows like that. The second gig I ever played, I forgot part of one of _my own_ songs that we had rehearsed a bajillion times! We had to stop about 20 seconds in. I was mortified. Then we restarted, landed in a groove and it was no big deal anymore by the end of the song.
This is actually quite reassuring. I mean look, I don't get in the comments and simp or be all about the looks, but as a point of fact, you are not only a very capable player, but you're obviously very charming and quite lovely. That said, it is a comfort to this pudgy old blues player to know that confidence issues strike even beautiful people. It's a stupid hangup on my part, but I always have imposter syndrome even though I know I'm a capable player. So thanks for being an amazing human and a hell of a great player (that Purple Haze cover was SICK). Much respect and admiration from New England! :)

Mia, I have been producing major shows, concerts and festivals since way before you were born, with some of the greatest in the world. My best 'encouragement' I can offer is, as you alluded to anyway, be authentic. Be yourself. You do you! Never try to be something or someone else. Audiences smell fakes, the know bullshit when they see it and they don't hold back in letting you know. Being yourself, even in bad gigs, engenders audience loyalty. I can tell you I've had some massive acts on my stage when shit has gone wrong but because the artist has been honest and authentic, the audience just loved them more and they got through it. If we knew each other in person, oh the stories I would share with you. It's been a while since I did small pub/local venue gigs and they can be even more scary because you're so close to the audience. But remember, a bad experience is a hundred teaching moments in one night. You just be grateful you had the opportunity to learn from it. Don't expect to be a Wembley stadium player overnight and you will get there. 90% hard sweaty work and 10% Talent. You're talented. Now work. 😉 Go out and do more. Experience Jazz and all other styles/genres. You go girl! Fly high and enjoy the ride. 🫡

I've been playing on stages all over the world for 40 yrs., and the best advise I can give you is this ....when you get up on the bandstand the audience is there to see you , you own then . And it isn't that shy little girl up there, it's that bad ass that has spent countless hours learning to play that guitar , and you are good at it , so now you just transform into that performer ...remember we are actors up there putting on a show ...you are now someone else......only thing is to remember when you are off stage to go back to being you . ... You've probably heard the stories how Jimi Hendrix off stage was a rather shy , and quiet individual, but on stage ...well we all know about that......Having confidence performing really is mostly about being prepared , even when just winging it , all that practice is preparation ......so I've seen lots of your videos, girl you got the goods, when you perform look right at the audience and give it to them, I know you can too. BTW that advise was given to me by my brother that was a professional vocalist , and his group made records in the mid to late sixties , Daryl Hall was their lead singer , I've been around this biz a long time.
My first time playing piano in front of an audience was when I was 10. I was ready. I KNEW the music. I sat down to play but the only thing I could think to find was Middle C. Epic embarrassment. I wanted to evaporate. These things *make* you even more hell bent to do better. Cheers to making mistakes & soaring above them!
for me confidence comes from alot of rehearsing play every song for 3 hours on your own to do all the thinking up front, play it in every way imaginable and generate improvisation ideas that work then play everything with a band for several weeks at some point you develop muscle memory and you can play things without having to think when you walk on stage you feel confident because youve played it for a while without making a mistake, thats when your ready for the stage when you walk on stage its time to stop thinking, close your eyes and just feel it, release the emotions inside you, that and you will find that new ideas for improvisation will present themselves as "accidents"

Mimi, as someone who's seen hundreds of gigs over 50 years, some bands, multiple times, they really do make mistakes, but can usually cover it up without anyone noticing, but even they have to laugh and look around when someone plays a bum note, one night a gig can go perfectly, but on another it can all go wrong !
Yeah Mimi., yeah when you're playing live.. you let it all hang out.. everything you learned,.. what size finer the enjoyable moments because if you have a drummer and a little bit of this and a bass player you need to be surprised with some of them looks good so really sound like. Because a lot of times when I practice I don't practice with them a Metrodome.... I practice freely..... And I tried to memorize and train what I like and do so I can play it for you live if there's ever that time or or for a song and I can play it to a beat.... But when I'm creating.. the last distractions the better so I like to keep it down to the vocal and the rhythm and lead and vice versa to the beat.... Like Jimi Hendrix said... Yeah Mimi., yeah when you're playing live.. you let it all hang out.. everything you learned,.. what size finer the enjoyable moments because if you have a drummer and a little bit of this and a bass player you need to be surprised with some of them looks good so really sound like. Because a lot of times when I practice I don't practice with them a Metrodome.... I practice freely..... And I tried to memorize and train what I like and do so I can play it for you live if there's ever that time or or for a song and I can play it to a beat.... But when I'm creating.. the last distractions the better so I like to keep it down to the vocal and the rhythm and lead and vice versa to the beat.... Like Jimi Hendrix said...
