Hi Steve, I am a fine art painter learning how to letter and pinstripe with your videos. I live in NYC and just stopped by Blick on Bond Street to pick up some of your excellent brushes. I just wanted to let you know that your videos are fantastic, and that they are the best resource for lettering/ pin striping/ enamel paint help on the web. Thanks so much, and keep up the great work. -Honor
thanks Steve for your videos. They realy help me to learn pinstriping. It´s hard to make good letering for me as a beginer, but your videos gives me more motivation. thanks a lot greets from Austria
1-Shot slinger the lettering brushes are Kwills and Liners ,longer, with perfect square corners, and capabilities, like nothing ever available before. The hair is black Tacklon and Chinese Black Squirrel, the blend is secret, as are the manufacturing techniques. My Scriptliner brushes are good for smaller script lettering in the smaller sizes only, the larger sized Scriptliner brushes are fantastic all purpose utility brushes , not designed for lettering. If you want to see some informative you tube video on my entire brush line try Davidographicsguy, this Master Signwriter has fallen in love with my Signwriter Series , and has done a series of over eighty lettering videos , that are extremely well photographed and explained technique like nobody else has done . But the brushes for lettering with my name on them have not made to market by Blick, just all my other stuff, I’m so sorry about this, but I’ve tried for almost ten years, their not paying attention to their roots, and they are the largest art supply chain in the world.....
I absolutely love your work..ive been trying signs for 25 years...im ok at it..i make money sometimes..but im just hesitate at stripping..ive got a couple of your brushes and just been putting it on hold..dont know why..just gotta get over the fear of screwing up
Hi Steve thanks so much for uploading some videos about your brushes, your humble beginner styled attitude helps me relax and just go with the flow of learning takes more patience than i have pretty much in general... would it be correct to take a guess your brushes are called Steve Kafka's SignWriting brushes, you know with over 81,000 views could be a quiet profit maker for you if you slipped in you website link and even just the name of your brushes would help google search results hit those blue skys you like so much anyway, give us a pointer if you get the chance, cheers D.
David Simo I’ve been trying to find somebody to help me to get paid by the advertisers on my videos, I’ve not done more until I figure it out. I just refer to my lettering brushes as Kwills and Liners on stevekafka.com, I’ve got a fantastic pro Signwriter from Santa Cruz Ca. That has done over 80 videos using all of my brushes,Davidographicsguy on you tube.
@HeavyHiitter Well, I have two professionally produced videos out that you can get,, they are top quality. I was going to do six, but Smartflix rents them, and then they don't sell. So I'm doing these to help people ,and show them some great and innovative tools of the trade, with my daughter Lily as the cameraman. Besides, have you seen the crap out there? The Practice Board is acrylic ,rounded corners and a carry/thumbhole and my logo, it closely resembles the finish of a car, unlike glass.
It will all come to you with practice, and one of my lettering brushes, I'm going to do several more u-tube vids to help you guys figure this out. The potential for making $ is defiantly, here for all. Steve
I see brushes... Lol movin around .did I read or hear of a place that might send me a brush maybe for lettering, I think I would be great , good hand eye cordination and steady hand.
Hey Steve, just got a set of your brushes. Sort of new to lettering but not pinstriping, but I am having trouble keeping the brush chiseled. Before I can touch the brush to panel it will shrink up, not sure what I am doing wrong.
@tenor0555 Hi Shirley, At this point I wouldn't have a clue of what size of brush to suggest for you, I have no idea of your ability. The demo has both #4 in Kwill & Liner being used, you can go bigger or smaller, the #4 would be a good place to start if you are learning. I hope this gives you some help, I think everyone will use the entire set of each eventually. Regards, Steve
Hello Steve, I really enjoy your videos and admire your amazing skill. I am hoping to begin my sign painting practice, but I am not familiar with the brushes. Can you recommend any sign paint brush (and where can I buy them) for beginner please? Thank you so very much! Karen
Ive watched a ton of your video's, you sir are awesome at pinstriping making it look so easy! I got 2 of your scroll brushes and have been trying to learn, my work is the opposite . do you have to have a gift for it or can you master it by just working at it. my lines are not very straight looks like I drank 10 pepsi's or something. I want to rest my hand on the surface to steady my hand and to control the thickness of the line. any tips?
Deeword Page there is a technique that uses the forearm of the left arm as a rest for the wrist of the brush hand , it's referred to as handover. The stick referred to is called a mahl stick, it has been used by all of the painting disciplines.
you're awesome! i actually work with illustration but i'm starting to like this, maybe i'll get your brushes and start doing some calligraphy/pinstriping.. just a question, have you ever shipped your brushes to Brazil? i'm just a little aprehensive regarding taxes when the brushes arrive here, there is a Policy that any imported product that costs over US$50.00 there is a customs tax of 60%. kinda harsh on the wallet, haha :P
Hey, I was wondering if you have any tips on doing the script type stuff. I am really stuck of the part of say an "a" where after the first initial downstroke you begin going up again. I can't seem to get the hang of the change of direction. Thanks, J
Fade Master James Lee sorry but that would be impossible for me to pick one , lettering, pinstriping ,cartoons ,pictorials, graphic designs, long line striping,on and on ..

Use a stand off stick with a leather end, rest your hand on the stick and give it a go!
