@@tjobrien8436 So the team should be built on form alone? So when Sexton had a bad game he should have been dropped for Paddy Jackson yeah? Or maybe you're talking shiv
Sheehan looked absolutely massive vs the Stormers last week, he was already a big guy but has put on more muscle mass. He’ll start vs Scotland I think.
Madness how cian Healy is still on the bench . Amazing player in his day but surely we can give a younger prop a go when Healy can barely play 40 mins now a days.
This Ireland team is scary, if they gel together like they did before the world cup, they will bag a 3rd title in a row, and considering the games they play at home, a slam could be on the cards. Can´t wait for this game to kick off. Obv rooting for France on friday and for the tournament, but having lived in Ireland 15 years, I´ll be backing Ireland on sat.
The scary thing is you don’t have to look back to a time when French rugby was gelling. Toulouse are probably the best club team of all time, and Dupont and Ntamack add 10 points to any French performance. Whereas we have to fix a lot to be back at our best. I think it’s France’s year.
I'm gutted for Calvin Nash. Hansen has been a shadow of his former self since coming back from injury. Has not played well for Connacht. Had a terrible Autumn Nation Series. Yet he's picked over Nash (who isn't even on the bench) when he has been playing as well as he can with an under performing Munster team & had a great game vs Northampton.
As an Ireland fan I don't share your pessimism about England, I think Borthwick inherited a dishevelled English team after its time with Jones. I don’t think Borthwick has a super personality, but that looks like a very balanced English Team to me, it takes a while to put things right. I think he (Borthwick) is getting close. England have a good midfield, good half backs and the back three looks solid. So do Ireland win it in the pack? England always front up v Ireland. It puts a lot on a young and inexperienced Irish out half to unlock England, I guess we will know on Saturday evening…………..
Aas an england fan I still believe. This is pretty much the exact team I expected ireland to play, and I'm glad it is. Will be a good game. (Hopefully)
As an Irishman I would be more encouraged if I was an England fan . The Bench is shocking. Henderson should vanish along with Healy now. What the fuck are they doing to Irish rugby!!!
Si knows the craic. Great that Dan is back. Sound team. The English have a sound team, too: and a great new Cap'n who'll go 80+. "Rust will fly!" Cheers Tim👍You do a great job🏴☠ ☘
Dan Sheehan is our most important player and most dangerous attacker, we missed him so much throughout his horrendous injury , when he got injured against South Africa, that ruptured ACL I thought his career could be over , please God bless him with a full recovery because he is the most special Hooker in the history of World Rugby , he comes from the same background as my fav irish player Gowd mode D’Arcy, our greatest Catholic institution Clongowes Wood College, we are not the same team without him , such a talent, just a joy to watch!!!!
The pressure the media are placing on Predergast is ridiculous. Ollie Campbell one of the great 10s said it was the longest apprenticeship. I really worry about the media affect on Crowley and Predergast when it's a iffy day.
So, i am a casual enough fan of the team but it's so lovely to have a sport we are good at.... is Frawley completely out of contention or what's happened there? It's always a tight match, so I can't really call it, but maybe the home advantage will give us the staying power #COYBIG
Great video as usual Tim! Exciting squad selection though as far as I'm concerned Crowley is still the form 10 in Irish rugby union. Frawley has the unfortunate position of being the best Utility back in Ireland haha. I completely agree with having Prendergast (who is amazing don't get me wrong) in and around the squad but don't see him as THE 10 yet. Perhaps it's about cohesion in certain areas (so favouring Leinster halfback partnership). Also I notice again no Wales video? Squad selection was yesterday mate.
Nash hard done by I think, Hanson very little rugby played. Harsh on Crowley too, but can understand starting the Leinster pair with the Munster pair coming on together. Big Joe and Furlong a miss. Ireland by 8 still
@DAGATHire my sincerest apologies for inadequate use of the English language, here I am patiently awaiting a delectable medley of rugby union splendour, but alas I have crumbled in my attempts to express an opinion to the utmost of linguistic ability. Shame on me.
I agree. In Crowleys 1st season as starting 10, Ireland won the 6 nations and drew a series in SA. Prendergast will be targetted all day long tomorrow. His tackling is poor and he gets ragdolled all the time. McCarthy will be a big loss I feel. He's Ireland 'enforcer' and adds that much needed physicality against a side like England. I had Ireland by 2 but now I'm thinking Eng might edge it. Henderson is good ball carrier but he knocks the ball on far too often for my liking.
Prendergast is the absolute best choice that England could have hoped for. Their entire game plan will be to target him. He has been exposed physically and defensively in Nov and in recent games for Leinster, with both teams trying to hide him when the opposition have the ball. With Furlong out the Irish scrum is going to be under massive pressure and Prendergast is not used to playing on the back foot. If Prendergast played for any other club would he have had the opportunity to showcase his skills behind a dominant pack with Jordi Barrett outside him to take the pressure off. Even with that Leinster team he has looked shaky against La Rochelle and Bath.
@daveahern8649 Prendergast is a sublime unlocker of the tightest doors. You will annoint him soon enough. And is already a better defender than ROG ever was.
I just kind of highly data that the irish team would’ve picked someone knowing that England could exploit it quite well. Am I missing something? Or is there maybe another England sleeve? Probably
It's a bloody joke that Calvin Nash isn't on that team ahead of.Mack Hansen. He's in way better form. The old saying that it's harder to get off the Irish team than onto it holds true. Joke
Tend to agree with your final assesment Tim. Ireland at best have maintained post RWC but I think Ireland have probably fell off a bit. I still think they'll have enough to beat England at the weekend though.
I think it’s so crazy that ireland falling off is considered them losing three games in the space of nearly 3 years one to the current world champions one to the all black which arguably reading no shame and losing to the all Blacks and the third one was England. I know they haven’t been as fluid and solid as of late but I’d say falling off maybe not category only because they’re still able to win but I guess we’ll see what the outcome is on Saturday. I’m not entirely optimistic as an Irish person but we’ll see.
@SmcdMcd-d2k I think some of this could be due to coaching changes and Leinster with their approach going a bit more defensive. So many players were in the form of their lives for an extended period of time. JGP was competing with a certain French man for a time for the title as best 9 in the world IMO. Post injury hasn't quite got back there. I'd pretty much take Ireland's entire set of backs. While England don't have a recognised jumper in the backrow, with McCarthy out I think the English forwards inc the bench may get an edge in the physicality stakes
Think Ireland definitely win with Big Joe and Furlong, but them two being out makes it more even. Genuinely will be surprised if whichever 10 has the better game isn’t on the end of the winning side, as both packs are evenly matched. Prendergarst vs Smith will be crucial.
It will be a cracker of a game. England youth will play like men possessed & throw everything at Ireland. Let’s hope that the weather allows a fast flowing game.
@ ye but with unders he would only need to play one 😂. The. Give a chance to maybe play a ted Hill in that 6 shirt to add some creativity to that back row
Disappointed for McCarthy - and initially thought the bench was less impactful than normal but there are 5 ex-lions on it as well as Sheehan. I think having 2 very different 10s is good for us and think Crowley when he comes on will have something to prove, but Prendergast is a bit special and probably calmer than most out halfs, He is still learning his trade and is still a kid with a few international caps, but his ceiling is enormous. Also I would have Hansen in any of my teams (even ahead of Lowe) - his work rate is off the charts and although he is not speed he thinks at a different level and has wonderful hands. He is constantly used as a first receiver, and his running lines are exceptional - I hope Ireland's line out improves, as so much comes from clean ball and also there is parity in the scrum. But no doubt it will be a battle of the back rows. This game will swing like a pendant and hopefully Ireland will have the mental strength to get over the line - otherwise we just blame Simon and let him know he's in for it when Dad gets home
If the last few games in this fixture are anything to go by, this match will be a real test of depth off the bench. England have really fronted up against Ireland in recent times, being in games they had no right to be in the circumstances, and while you can argue Ireland have the better starting XV, it's not so clear when you consider the whole 23-player matchday squad. Both teams struggled with bench impact in the Autumn so it will be interesting to see who will get it right this Saturday. Very excited for this one!
I think England need to win one out of the Ireland and France games to show we are making any sort of progress. I dont care about perfomance or how close it is at this point. England need to win one of those games for Borthwick to keep his job for me after the abysmal autumn.
I'm a little uneasy with Prendergast starting, he's going to be great in the future but right now he might be the defense weak link. Then again Easterby might know something we don't but honestly I would prefer Crowley starting.
It is a good thing for England to start with Ireland, France and Scotland this year! They had fallen into some complacency starting with Italy and Wales and beating them before getting a wake-up call from the other three sides!
Personally expect more than a 5 point spread but expect England to be in the game throughout. Let's say IRE 28-18 with a late try to flatter them somewhat
As an Englishman I'm more confident that I have been in years. But I still think Ireland by 7-10. If Sheehan is still of it and we can tire porter, I think there is chance we can get a lot of joy in the last twenty in terms of set piece. And, if Prendergast isn't who Ireland want him to be yet, then we've got a chance.
The order of the fixtures might have a lot to do with the end result too. On the one hand, Ireland has to play England, Scotland then Wales before facing France. Those first 2 games against very physical teams are going to leave their marks on the bodies, if no injuries (touch wood noone gets hurt). On the other hand, France has a somewhat easier start against Wales, England then Italy. France notoriously are slow starters in the tournament, so this schedule might suit them (tho that crunch at twickenham is not going to be easy). And England probably has the worst schedule, against Ireland, France then Scotland. Obviously if Ireland can win those 2 home games against England and France, they´ll be well on their way to the GS (but that Scotland game away on week 2 could be a banana skin).
Fair few irish backs being back after long enough injuries is my big worry, also no idea what goodmans philosophy or attack style is yet, even at leinster it was a Stuart Lancaster era that brought him in, but his full season was under Nienaber, what does he want irelands backs to look like, leinster/ireland from two years ago or leinster today?
Despite my brain saying England are coming 3rd, I have a strange feeling that this will be their coming of age a big win here and/or France and it’s on! Come on England
one big factor in my opinion is their respective height : Mack Hansen is 1m88 while Calvin Nash is 1m78. With the new 'escort' rule, that 10cm height difference could be a huge differentiator, esp against Tommy Freeman (1m88).
@darraghgeaney1602 Perhaps you have missed just how dependent Ireland are on Lowe and Hansens ability to create as a first receiver? Nash simply doesn't gave that in his locker. Nash's may be quicker than either but is far from standout at International level either. And that's even before you discuss just how superior Lowes and Hansens kicking game is.
Great as always Tim. I’m still not convinced with Smith yet. Great player but his game seems to be too loose for test rugby and from what I’ve seen I don’t see this changing. Does the defense suffer as a result of the looseness of his game? Do or can the rest of the players keep up with him? Can he control a game plan and put it together without going rogue, but do this consistently over a tournament? I don’t know the answers but time will tell. As of yet I’m yet to be convinced he will be the man at 10 if England are to be a consistent winning team like the 2003 or the 2016 - 2019.
Sheehan was very impressive 1st game back but sensible to start him on bench. Miss McCarthy size and presence. Would have Nash or O'Brien for Hansen. No Henderson or Healy. Fair enough Murray in for injured Casey.
Irish rugby fans have became so snobby complaining about team selection yet it’s the same management side that have helped produce your greatest rugby side ever and are on course to win three six nations titles in a row give your head a rattle and trust the process.
Before the Ireland team was announced I had them winning by 7+. Now I've seen the 23, I've got to revise that prediction. They'll win by 12+. A class above England in pretty much every position, especially centre.
Agreed. There's a bunch of guys on the radar, some on a knife edge. Particularly England. Mitchell, Martin, Freeman, Steward, Lawrence, Stuart etc. big performance and they could be in. Ireland's are front runners but could play themselves out.
I “feel” a unexpected win for England. Ireland don’t have head coach Farrell, there’s nothing amazing about the Irish team anymore. The November tests didn’t go well for Ireland. Neither for England but … there were discovered players. Should be a great match. Home advantage counts but I find England have something to prove
im flabbergasted Tim has marcus smith at 10 for the combined team which is fine yet England have put him at 15 for the game. 🤣 I cannot for the life of me understand why england coaches are obsessed with moving their best 10s to other positions. And indeed for that reason Ireland win this at a canter i reckon. ANd indeed why does no one talk about this. I guarantee you that if ireland were doing this the rugby fans and media would be all over it. Chopping and changing where your best 10 plays is demonstrably bad. Just ask owen farrell.
Think Ireland by 10 points, its hard to ignore our home form. In last 4 years only New zealand and France have beaten us at the Aviva. Although without Farrell at the helm were in unchartered waters somewhat.
Where is Matt Williams now????? He is conspicuous by his silence!!!!! Well done Ireland for using SA bench tactics. Williams time as a pundit is over. PS. Freedom of speech for those who are going to try and force their POV’s
Do another video of your selection after the game. Who gets in who gets stopped, it would be interesting. Enjoy the up coming weeks, I know I will be. Thx

The youtube algorithm counts all eyeballs aa equal - hence Tim focuses on the low hanging Bokke fruit. In reality, a pair of bona fide D4 eyeballs equates to about a 100k of Bokke eyeballs from a purchasing power parity pov.
Probably our best available XV but man these Ireland teams are so alienating. If you didnt go to a fee paying school in Dublin you might as well have grown up in Auckland because thats literally your only other shoolt in making the team #teamofus
Sheehan & Lowe looked fitter than ever in return, Sheehan looked fastest man on the pitch! Henshaw is completely solid but not as sure about the other 3 H's. Prendergast would be picked over Crowley if they both played for Leinster so its no mystery.
Finn Baxter is such a step down in class. Not intl calibre, Would have had OpF instead. I think we also see Finn smith after 30mins as Steward gets hooked off , how does he still get a game for club let alone country

Henderson out because he’s been injured and Cormac in as more explosive like Joe. Same mistake as last time if we’re chasing. Could even have gone 6/2 and added Sam’s brother and Connacht captain Cian. Calvin Nash is more in form than Hansen and should’ve begun at 14. I wouldn’t have Healy, if Tom wasn’t banned or if Loughman wasn’t injured. I know Healy is great but we have to rip the bandage off.
Don't agree that Prendergast takes ball right into contact. From what I've seen so far in big games, he tries to let go of ball split sec pre impact and then a split sec later, kind of side steps incoming opponent. Haven't seen him smashed that many times.
Henderson very lucky. Would love to see Cormac instead.

Sheehan came back against the Stormers and was a deserved man of the match with 2 tries to boot
I think with the loss of Furlong and Porter our pack is not as strong as hoped for.
it will be tight...England are no push-overs....Ireland @ home ain't going to be easy..enjoy the game!
There are player that could have been found instead of Healy, Murray and Henderson
McCarthy injured, Casey injured
@cateym there are still other scrum halves and second rowers from other provinces.
We need to build to 2027 and 2031
@@TheCholopolo209Murray has had a great run for Munster since Casey got injured.
@@cateym I don't deny that they are still good players.
Maybe when we tour Georgia and Romania we'll see some young up and coming players.
Ireland 🇮🇪 19 England 🏴 12
This game will decide the tournament if England win it's either England or France. If we win I think we will go on to do a GS.
@cedricpicard9016 Agree with that buddy yeah 👍🏻
Close game incoming! I'm nervously excited..
Buzzing for it.
Cian Healy will be collecting his bus pass soon 😊
I think Hendy is in there as the line out works better with him in there.
Here’s another visionary prediction “Prendegast off with concussion”
Entirely possible
Despite my brain saying England are coming 3rd, I have a strange feeling that this will be their coming of age a big win here and/or France and it’s on! Come on England
Agree with all of that. What more does nash have to do.
Be as creative and imaginative as Hansen for a start. Nash is quicker but limited and one dimensional.
@@FR-je9bw I would love to know where you're getting that from. What more would you want in a winger than speed and is extremely good in the air?
one big factor in my opinion is their respective height : Mack Hansen is 1m88 while Calvin Nash is 1m78.
@@FR-je9bw We'll agree to disagree but we'll see how they get on this Saturday. Obviously hoping to be proven wrong and we get the win.
That bench looks tasty
Bit worried no McCarthy or Furlong you lose a lot of bulk and physicality in the set piece and in open play. Hope the subs come on with some impact
England to WIN!
He still has the best hair in rugby, so there's that.
I think Fin Smith has more game control
@@TheContrarianMind 2nd best to squidge rugby
Randall over Murray is quite an interesting take.. .Not sure i agree, but yeah
Tim have every asked the managers what they think of your combined team???😮
Park,smith lions partnership?
Sheehan was very impressive 1st game back but sensible to start him on bench. Miss McCarthy size and presence. Would have Nash or O'Brien for Hansen. No Henderson or Healy. Fair enough Murray in for injured Casey.
Nash I can understand, but O'Brien is laughable
Irish rugby fans have became so snobby complaining about team selection yet it’s the same management side that have helped produce your greatest rugby side ever and are on course to win three six nations titles in a row give your head a rattle and trust the process.
Before the Ireland team was announced I had them winning by 7+. Now I've seen the 23, I've got to revise that prediction. They'll win by 12+. A class above England in pretty much every position, especially centre.
Ireland by 5 with the set piece working well would be a good result ☘️
You're a goat, you're a goat and you're a goat EVERYONE is a GOAT!!!!! 😊
511 caps on the bench 👀
No Big Joe!! That’s a big loss. Is his injury serious, will he be fit for any of the games?
I read on X that he took a blow to the head during training, which will rule him out of the game on Sat. Should be good thereafter.
@ thanks, just heard that on Simon E interview. All good 👍
Of all the 6N games this is the one that will decide the most Lions winners and Losers
Agreed. There's a bunch of guys on the radar, some on a knife edge. Particularly England. Mitchell, Martin, Freeman, Steward, Lawrence, Stuart etc. big performance and they could be in. Ireland's are front runners but could play themselves out.
How o how is Henderson in.
Done nothing for years.
This didn't work for Nz. Why would it work now.
He was very poor against NZ. Gave away too many knock-ons and penalties.
Very disappointed with that selection!! Unless he has proven himself during training??
I “feel” a unexpected win for England. Ireland don’t have head coach Farrell, there’s nothing amazing about the Irish team anymore. The November tests didn’t go well for Ireland. Neither for England but … there were discovered players. Should be a great match. Home advantage counts but I find England have something to prove
im flabbergasted Tim has marcus smith at 10 for the combined team which is fine yet England have put him at 15 for the game. 🤣
I cannot for the life of me understand why england coaches are obsessed with moving their best 10s to other positions.
Our bench is actually disgusting
Think Ireland by 10 points, its hard to ignore our home form. In last 4 years only New zealand and France have beaten us at the Aviva. Although without Farrell at the helm were in unchartered waters somewhat.
Did expect either Baird or Prendergast starting
PrenderCLASS
If he fails, it will be prendermass
Bold prediction but I think Ireland by 12
Aging Irish team but still good thou
Where is Matt Williams now????? He is conspicuous by his silence!!!!! Well done Ireland for using SA bench tactics. Williams time as a pundit is over. PS. Freedom of speech for those who are going to try and force their POV’s
Do another video of your selection after the game. Who gets in who gets stopped, it would be interesting. Enjoy the up coming weeks, I know I will be. Thx
I think that a great idea going on already though doesn’t it?
@@owenfarmer4197 no i think his plan was to do 1 before the competition and another after the competition ends , i could be wrong. hopefully its for every game. thatll be great. regards
U20’s 6N kicks off tonight with Ireland vs England. U20’s 6N is just brilliant & in the uk on iPlayer :-)
Should have started Crowley imo
Ireland by 8
At the risk of inflating all the munster fans paranoia even as a connacht fan I'm a bit surprised Hanson is starting he hasn't hit the Same form this season since his injury
Gwan ireland
Munster fans whinging about Crowley... he'll be getting a lot of game minutes and it wouldnt bother me if they went with Crowley. I do prefer watching Sam but...
Leinster fans speaking to us, don't bother. It's unpleasant for us both.
Watching Sam getting ragdolled. He can't tackle to save his life. England backrow and centers will target his channel all day.
where's Snyman?
Are you serious?

What happened McCarthy?
Injured
I wouldn’t have Henderson in the 23, Cormac all the way ☘️
No mention of calvin nash? Im a leinster fan but i think nash has been ripping it up. Him over lowe and also, henderson is not at the races nor is. Ian healy. I fear an upset here.... england will be ripping it up.
Fair comment on Nash. In class form
Is Tim travelling to Dublin? Should be here taking in the Leinster Schools Senior Cup (aka The Holy Grail) It's a more glamorois version of Craven Week (minis the 'roids)
The youtube algorithm counts all eyeballs aa equal - hence Tim focuses on the low hanging Bokke fruit. In reality, a pair of bona fide D4 eyeballs equates to about a 100k of Bokke eyeballs from a purchasing power parity pov.
England need to drop Stuart he’s never above a 5/10
Probably our best available XV but man these Ireland teams are so alienating. If you didnt go to a fee paying school in Dublin you might as well have grown up in Auckland because thats literally your only other shoolt in making the team #teamofus
Or is it Pretender-goat?
Very good! We may be about to find out
Ireland stronger at Scrum time, lineouts & critically in the centres.Ireland by 7
Lineouts?
Our lineouts are woeful
Come on England 🏴! Underdogs again. No shame in losing away to Ireland. Play with freedom (and batter Prenderlank)
nah james lowe and tommy are wingers.. Macks last thing I remember was the restart kick off try against france 2 years ago
Supporting Englang in this match against Ireland, but hope Scotland comes out tops in this tournament! From a Springbok supporter!!
Nash deserved a start over Hansen.. no need for Henderson or Healy should be Jack Boyle
Lets hope this time Prenderghast doesent intentionally shoulder a player in the head like he did with Fiji
As a Munster fan I just feel depressed as how can I support Ireland as it’s basically Leinster
OK then, What Munster player deserves to be in the team before any of the named players ?
Crowley and Nash@@vantherugbyman
Think England will win it get on they 10 all game jis just young kid
As an Irish fan, England to win with that team.
How will the Munster Fan boys react when Caspar Gabriel comes of age and Crowley doesn't even make the 23? Bereft, I suspect.
Frawley was thrown aside after one bad game so I would expect the same to happen to your latest rotation.
Boys? Leinster fans are still toddlers they only appeared about 10 years ago
@@Steve-gr6jm Frawley wasn't privately educated and therefore has never truly fitted in
@AlCasu1888 Thomond is a Mausloeum, might as well pull the plug the same way they have with JP and POC's Linerick Rugby Museum. D4 is the true spiritual home of Irish Rugby.
@@FR-je9bw Dubs will get sick of it and go back to watching football once Ireland has a decent team. Which unfortunately might be some time away yet but it's something to look forward to for many reasons.
Out of bith teams the man who should be most pissed off is Calvin Nash. Sorry, but its bloody ridiculous hansen starts ahead of him
Henderson out because he’s been injured and Cormac in as more explosive like Joe.
