You see Clive's acting expertise when he realizes he's forgotten their anniversary... the physical reactions and facial expressions - the best acting often doesn't involve words!
Bill Osborn so true!
Very true Bill Osborn.
Clive at his best that part!
@Almost Free Stop encouraging "stupid"? Were you trying to say "stupidity", stupid? 🤣
Yes, and how many men can sympthize with him - like "oh f**k he forgot..."
She is a fantastic actress
he's not bad either
Etta James ... the funny ones get some recognition, Joanna Lumley, Dawn French, Kathy Burke and so on (as well as PR herself of course)
Dame was just recognized for her exemplary career!
Both are good actors
she is also a wonderful person
It's kind of sweet how much faith she has in him
0:30 The moment when Richard realizes he's screwed.
And 2:31 when he realizes he's saved.
Epic acting from both of them ☺
And Hyacinth's reaction of giddy delight!
Yes. spot on!
0:30 Richard is like “oh shit I fucked up!”
2:31 Richard is like “oh thank you Jesus!”
The best part of the first moment is, after writhing in various ways, he suddenly just runs off, flees!
R.I.P Clive Swift. No other actor could've portrayed Richard better than he did.
I can't agree more!
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Travis Allen 100%
Travis Allen amen to that!❤️
Omg!!! I didn't know he died. R.I.P
One of the best British tv shows. Never a dull moment!
Amen..
Same....used to love this show!

She is so happy to have an security alarm installed her home. Rather sweet actually and her childlike delight. I love the look of horror on her hubby's face that he had forgotten their wedding anniversary. Priceless.
Poor Richard forgot the date and the alarm going off gave it away😂.
I think 🤔 Richard had block out he wedding anniversary 😲 to Hyacinth because he didn't want to be reminded how long they been married for.🙄
Patricia Routledge is a national treasure. Loved Keeping up appearances.
Thats, Dame Patricia Routledge
RIP Clive Swift. You portrayed Richard Bucket wonderfully
It's pronounced Bou-quet! XD

👍👍👏😆😆
I was so proud of Richard that day.
Bless his heart, the patience of a literal saint.
Well you gave him the idea for the present. Though why you're ringing Hyacinth is beyond me.
My sister and I loved watching 'Mrs Bucket', when we were 5,6 7 years old growing up in Australia. Our parents let us buy a VHS with our pocket money and we would roar with laughter. I always thought the little romanticised English house they owned was so sweet and and I longed to visit England.
still makes me laugh til it hurts now ☺
Oh cool you bought a video with your pocket money.🤗🤗🤗👏👏👏😄😄😄
I would love to live in their house, not with Hyacinth in it of course, but just to have that house!!
haha i always thought it was a lovely big house beautifully furnished to me who grew up on an english council estate england is beautiful though
Excellent- this is how comedy is done right
Which we don't see hardly at all now. Other than the Carol Burnett show and others made in that era, all is lost for humor now. Besides cable is fading fast and probably will be gone in the next 10 years, if not sooner.
2:45: That "Oh Richard" is the best line in the entire run. Brilliantly done.
I was specifically looking for that when I came to this video. Just thinking about it and wanting to see it. 😊
😂😂😂 The best female British actress for me. She does it like no any other. You nailed Hyacinth... Patricia!
"Excuse me dear that's about to be someone important" every time i hear this it makes me laugh so hard.
What I love about this episode is Hyacinth isn't being overbearing or pushy in anyway. She is genuinely excited to see what her husband has bought her for an anniversary present. As someone whose father frequently forgets his wedding anniversary (and is proud of it), I can totally understand her excitement.
Why is the husband supposed to buy something for the wedding anniversary? Isn't that the wedding was shared by both the wife and the husband?
@@hanaluong2672 This was the 90s, the man should always take the initiative.
@@hanaluong2672the way poor Richard puts up with Hyacinth all year, she should buy him anniversary, birthday and Christmas presents.
The first time I saw this episode and Richards panicked expressions I just about died laughing. I could hardly breathe from laughing so hard!
Clive here shows the mark of a great actor - his facial and body expressions as he realizes that he forgot their anniversary are priceless! Before he even says a word, we can empathize with his panic and fear!
He embodies the "pained expression"
R.I.P. Clive Swift. 🙏🙏❤❤😢😢
I always hoped we would meet Sheridan
Michael He preferred to stay in the closet
L R Lol , true
You saw the back of his head in a taxi once.
@@lr3521 With his crochet set?
Michael, me, too!
What a sweet man! No one could have done better.
But he does not get a present at all...
Hyacinths excitement over everything is everything 😂💙
"A house burgled...how pretentious," If you want a laugh while in the dentist's chair, think of that. The writers were brilliant.
Hahaha
The Writer……..
just one person wrote this show
@@DeanMoxley87 not technically
@laurenanderson7330 no, scenes were re written by the director, Harold Snowed. I do know
@@DeanMoxley87 not just re-written but new scenes were written altogether, and later there was a team of script editors
Clive Swift, RIP and thank you for all those wonderful TV moments.
This is possibly the only episode where you felt a bit of sympathy for Hyacinth with Richard first forgetting the anniversary and then forgetting the year of the Wedding.
This has to be probably my all-time favourite KUA episode, so brilliantly written and well performed by both Patricia and Clive (R.I.P. Clive Swift).
Magnificent save by Richard!!!
R. I. P Clive swift, You were a great man!
Why is it the British can act so well, every character on this show was phenomenal
Talent perhaps.
Damn close Richard!! You got lucky there mate!
Me and my mom always watched this show. Loved it so much. My mom passed away so these shows are a wonderful memory for me. I still watch it ❤️
This episode had such a funny ending scene. I still remember watching these episodes here in America when they first aired in the 1990's. My partner and I fell in love with the show very quickly back then when we got our first apartment. Decades later, and we love watching the DVD's every now and then. The show will always be hilarious.
I can't watch this without murmuring, "C'mon, Richard, you can do it!" and then just bursting into triumphant, loonnng laughter when he manages. The call in the phone box with the security tech is just as good! "Excuse me, sir, but are you married? Have you ever forgotten your wedding anniversary?" Pause... "Good man!" WHEW!
Number 23 has been burgled again! Thats twice in three months.....how pretentious! LOL that SUCH a Hyacinth thing to say! :-D
Nice save Richard😂😂😘😘. RIP Clive Swift and thanks for the laughs💟
This is one of the most wonderful show's I have ever watched l love it
Was my favorite show. I still keep watching all the reruns on utube. Still make me laugh. They are histerical. Best actors and actresses in the world.
I love them.They´re amazing.
this man is a saint !! i would run away from HOME!!
I know they did the Bucket vs Bouquette gag in every single episode, but it just never gets old as far as I'm concerned.
I love English language. She play very posh life style and make me laugh. I don’t get bored watching everyday her comedies. I love it xxx
In Richard’s defense, I think we all try to forget traumatic dates! 😂😂😂
She is being nice in this episode. I think you have issues with women. A wedding anniversary is a happy day. If you do not want to be married, remain single.
@@Michelle-pn9xt YES! My thoughts exactly! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤗
😂😂😂
Worst day of his life and he forgets!
well appreantly not , cause he stayed married ;) perhaps Hyacinth is a devil in bed.
😂😂😂
She was overbearing, but she took care of him. She was not an incompetent home-maker by no means.
Apparently it's all those candlelight suppers that sustain their marriage.
@@robertzsombok7661 good point.
I just heard very sad news 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
R.I.P. Richard 😢😢😢😢😢
Comedy at its best....RIP Clive Swift 👌
The Guy deserves a medal .. Well at least an O.B.E anyway
R.I.P Richard😔
RIP..Riiiiichhhaaaaard
cmp0714 🤣
He's in a better place...far away from Hyacinth. 😆
RIP Clive. We miss you.
RIP Geoffrey too!
Brilliant! But there was more to this clip that we missed. I think she says “Richard wants to protect me” or something like that to Elizabeth or emmit next door 😂
Hyacinth really does try her best to make everyone happy and to keep things together even when things are falling apart- you’ve got to hand it to her- she really does love Richard.
What? When has Hyacinth ever tried to make anyone happy? When has she ever given a thought to poor Richard?
Love it!!!! RIP Clive.
LOL!!! God, I loved this show!!! RIP Clive Swift 😍...you were so rightly made for this part. God how you'd make me laugh!
This episode was golden. 💚
I was born in India but raised in America and I grew up watching this show with my family on PBS. My siblings and I were young so some episodes went over our heads, but even as a could I could relate to Hyacinth’s striving to “fit in” despite her poor upbringing. I loved watching her struggle to “keep up appearances”, and equally enjoyed her failures as well. This show was so well written and well casted..I also liked that it was a show My family and I could enjoy watching together.
Im Polish man but I love this show...
Też uwielbiam😁😉😎
Then you can relate to being polished
I'm American but my whole family loves this show.
szilman kowalski I’m American and I love this show
I'm Romanomian and I love this show...
my mom still laughs at this 😆😆😆😂😂😂
Omg she’s the best I do enjoyed all her shows with my parents.!
I also felt sorry for Richard. He was a rock, had to be. RIP Clive Swift.
Well, I couldn't stand watching him suffer from Hyacinth.........felt so sorry for the lad........
Felt sorry for him. They both loved each other and wanted to be married. You are projecting feelings about your life on to this character.
Nobody could have played the part as well as Richard. Everytime I watch keeping up I have to thank my uncle in Sydney.
The most surprising part of this scene is that Emmett willingly called Hyacinth!
If I remember correctly, he did that on purpose because he knew it would upset her.
Richard's going to alarm me for my anniversary...
With a dusky pink alarm box and QE2 siren
Now THAT is the definition of a blind gamble!
Richard - one of the great heroes in television history
Still one of my best comedies
Instead of security installed I thought Richard was going to say he hid the present at Emmet's, I hope it hasn't been stolen...
Poor Richard lol
I love this show!
Why am I only hearing this now rip Clive swift a legend gone but no t forgotton
Hyacinth nuh easy at all such a laugh Mrs bouquet B.U.C.K.E.T love her acting
I assure you it is bouquet.
I've always thought that Richard was the chosen sacrifice, so that other men could be free.
You're funny
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol 😂
Haha
Wow! That is stupid. Marriage is a choice. Is there a lonely woman on another planet who thinks you are the only man on the planet? I AM GLAD ALL MEN ARE NOT LIKE YOU.
God Bless Richard Bucket R.I.P 👼👼
So relieved for Richard that he managed to come up with something at the last minute!
I have liked some American comedies, but the British do so much better. From this show (RIP Clive), to AbFab, Mr Bean, Faulty Towers and many more!
The British do comedy so much better than the Americans do. Benny Hill is another comedy that is British.
Yes Minister is EXCEPTIONAL!
I hate when people say things like that. They don't do comedy better than anyone - they do it different. I grew up watching Benny Hill, As Time Goes By, Are You Being Served, Keeping Up Appearance and shows like Ali G, Coupling, Last of The Summer Wine. To be sure - KUP appearance is the only one that made me laugh out loud. The others were just interesting British shows that crossed lines USA TV couldn't or wouldn't at the time. I found a lot of the humor vulgar at times - to be honest. But I loved them because they were slices of British humor and life and so different from my own. The Australians do humor wonderfully, too. I think Kath & Kim is funnier than any of these British shows I mentioned. I could watch Kath & Kim over and over again - although some of their humor is a bit crass as well. I don't like crass or vulgar humor AT ALL, but I know to reach the masses it must be added in. *sigh*
@@TodaysSpecialMinis I agree with one thing you wrote - and that is yes, British V American humour/comedy is different (and Australian and other countries). But I would still say, regardless of your diatribe, that British is generally 'better', in my opinion.
My main reason for saying this, is that a lot of American comedy and movies are often like 'oh, aren't we so great' type of attitude. Rather sickening I find, but that is not to say I hate their comedy/movies/whatever. The British are much better at being 'natural' at comedy without being so up themselves like the yanks.
try Maude - it is up there
How come I've never heard of this show before!? It is marvelous!
R.I.P Richard 😢🌹
He was fantastic!
I loved watching keeping up appearances back in the day and I still do now. This is one of the best episodes IMO and I think there was nobody better than Patricia Routledge and Clive Swift to portray Hyacinth and Richard Bucket (pronounced Bouquet btw) hahaha. He forgot their wedding anniversary and he was saved by the burglar alarm, briefly. If only he had remembered the year of their wedding 😂😂
I love them both😍😍😍😍
Love it love it love it! This is the Bukeeeet residence....Wonderful
Loved this show. Wish they would bring it back even reruns the funniest sitcom on PBS.
I love them soooooo much..
Rest in peace clive
Hahaha
I don't believe in anniversary buyings. As long as you remember your vows that's what is romance to me.
Haha poor Richard! 😂
Such a brilliant actor! "Rise In Power Sir Richard B"/Clive Swift🥰❤ They were brilliant together ⚘🕊
A top of the line security system would make her feel super exclusive and special. Brilliant! I could picture her making a big deal about it to all the neighbors on installation day 😄
This is my favorite one i still fallout laughing😄😄😄😄😭😄😄😄 rest now Richard miss you.
Dear dear Richard!!! It's such a big surprise...it even surprised Richard!
0:32-0:47 His reactionssss! PRICELESS! 😂😂😂
0:31-0:38 He looks like he is either getting roasted or having a ice cold shower. Or maybe both at the same time.
Smooth Richard, reallll smooth 😂
I just love Richard.....
I Love this show so much. Found it on YT thank goodness...
One of the best episodes! :D
Very clever Richard. RIP Clive Swift
I really laughed until I cried😂😂😂😂😂I love them!!!!!
Hyacinth's reaction is so sweet 😂
Loved it then and love it now. Luv this show
Poor Richard but he managed to Rigal his way out a forgotten anniversary present.
Peace!
I died so many times watching this show. 😭 Treasure. Richard's acting was on point.
